DVD Review: Hell Comes To Frogtown
DVD Review: Hell Comes To Frogtown
If you've ever wondered what B-Horror-Movies at the drive-ins were like in the 1970s, look no further.
This movie was a classic low-budget horror/adventure movie. Unlike They Live, there was no real message about society here. Just ugly monsters and hot chicks.
Roddy Piper was classic Piper, never playing it completely straight, as compared to They Live, where he played a serious character.
Items of interest:
- The movie has William Smith in it, who is a classic B-movie bad guy, and was a bad guy in many 70s TV shows. See him here in the very first episode of The Rockford Files.
- As I understand it, this movie spawned a couple sequels, although they did not have Piper in them.
- The movie seemed to be in search of a catchphrase, with many moments where there was a witty soundbite (e.g. "You're out of uniform, Corporal!"), but nothing really stuck.
As noted above, a fun movie for the drive-in, but not much else.
