National Wrestling Alliance / World Championship Wrestling - Saturday, June 1st, 1985
- Show opens with Nikita Koloff pinning someone in a tag match, with no context.
- Opening credits.
- Schiavone and Crockett talk...they say we'll see lots of champions today.
- Ron Garvin & Buzz Sawyer vs. Randy Barber & Mike Simani
- Fuzzy boots on Sawyer.
- Garvin's right hand and wrist are taped as a result of his recent encounter with Black Bart.
- A few clean breaks from Garvin, and Barber claims that the tights were grabbed.
- Double-team move by the good guys to start. Barber is tagged in. Punches, hip toss.
- Simani tagged in.
- Take down by Sawyer, mat work, slaps, Garvin tagged in.
- Hip toss by Garvin, Barber tagged in.
- Some amateur moves by Garvin (presumably because of the injured hand), Sawyer tagged in.
- Double team move, suplex by Sawyer, only a two count.
- Simani tagged in, and Sawyer carries him to the wrong corner.
- Garvin tagged in, more amateur moves. Sawyer tagged in. Double whip, back elbow.
- Bite to the bridge of the nose by Sawyer.
- Takedown by Sawyer into an armbar on the mat. Garvin looks to be in pain while he is standing on the apron.
- Big slap by Sawyer, followed by a gut wrench suplex.
- One count, and Sawyer pulls Simani up.
- Garvin tagged in, double-team move, and Garvin takes Simani down with a headlock.
- Arm pulls, stomp, big elbow, big stomp by Garvin, into a half crab. Simani gets to the ropes for a break.
- Open hand of stone. Sawyer tagged in, powerslam, 1-2-3.
- Your Winners: Ron Garvin & Buzz Sawyer via pinfall
- Tony Schiavone interviews Magnum TA. Magnum says that Flair is tarnishing the prestige of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. After the events of the last few weeks, Magnum has no more respect for Flair.
- Schiavone and Crockett interview Dusty Rhodes and Dick Slater. Apparently, Rhodes and Slaters won the titles from the Russians in a match, but a second referee reversed it. They show a replay of the ending of the match in question. Slater pins Ivan Koloff, and the pin is counted by a second referee, but the first referee reverses the call. The reasons for why there were two referees were not explained.
- In a presumably non-title match: NWA US Heavyweight Champion Magnum TA vs. Larry Clarke
- Clarke attacks from behind as the bell rings.
- Body slam by Mangum, standing drop kick, whip, belly-to-belly suplex. 1-2-3.
- 17 seconds, bell to bell.
- Your Winner: Magnum TA via pinfall
- Schiavone interviews NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair in all his robed splendor. Flair says that the robe costs ten or eleven thousand dollars. He has fifteen of them. You know why? Because he's the world's heavyweight champion. Flair wants to talk about the greatest, most famous, and best-looking wrestler in the world today. That would be Ric Flair. Flair has some film to play, the four greatest nights of his life..him pinning Harley Race to regain the title at Starrcade '83...then pinning Kerry Von Erich to regain the title...then winning the first million dollar match...then him stomping the crap out of Magnum TA last week. That's absolutely freakin' hilarious!
Flair wants Magnum to represent the sport properly, so Flair brings out a suit and shirt he had custom-made for Magnum TA and gives it to Shiavone to pass along.
- In a presumably non-title match: NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair vs. George South
- Flair goes right to work with the standard Flair offense.
- South turns things around with a whip, a back body drop, and a punch.
- Flair lures South into the corner, sucker kicks him, and goes back to work.
- Exchange of blows which Flair ends by putting South's head into the turnbuckle.
- Flair tosses South out of the ring and does some damage on the floor.
- Back in the ring, double-underhook suplex. Head scissors, belly-to-back suplex.
- Elbow drop by Flair, two count.
- Surfboard by Flair. Magnum is with the announcers.
- South with a short comeback, but Flair ends that in a hurry.
- Whip, back elbow by Flair. Stomp. Punch, clubbing forearm.
- While Flair is working on South, included the dreaded abdominal stretch, Magnum is seemingly impressed by the suit that Flair left for him.
- Flair with the suplex and then the figure-four leglock.
- Your Winner: NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair via submission
- Magnum says that the suit means so much that he's going to go to the ring and express his appreciation.
- Magnum goes to the ring where Flair is, and makes like he's going to try the suit on, and then he starts ripping it apart. Flair is NOT seeing the humor in the situation.
- Flair charges Magnum and Magnum hits Flair with the belly-to-belly suplex.
- Flair is down and Magnum walks out with the belt. Magnum hands the belt to the announcers and walks backstage.
- Flair comes to, goes to the announcers, and Flair is apoplectic. Flair thinks Magnum still has the belt, but the announcers have it and hand it to him. Flair walks off.
- Schiavone interviews Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes says that he's never seen Flair so personally insulted before. Dusty was very impressed by Magnum, and Dusty says Magnum showed that "it can be done".
- Another anniversary...53 years for Mr. and Mrs. William C. Morris of Tsatsuma, AL.
- Black Bart vs. Jim Jeffers
- Bart goes right to work on Jeffers' left arm. Clubbing blows and head butts on Jeffers' left arm. Slams against the turnbuckle, punch, Anderson slam on the arm.
- Damn...Bart is just destroying Jeffers' left arm.
- More on the arm, and finally an arm lock on the mat.
- Jeffers tries to fight his way out. No dice.
- The crowd is chanting "We want Garvin", which seems to be getting under Black Bart's skin.
- Suplex by Black Bart. Kneedrop to the head, and back to an armbar on the left arm.
- Throat drop onto the top rope by Black Bart. Body slam. Leg drop off the second rope. 1-2-3.
- Your Winner: Black Bart via pinfall
- Ron Garvin is with the announcers at ringside, and he wants his belt back.
- Garvin and Bart are face-to-face about the belt. Bart challenges Garvin to a loser-leaves-town match on TV next week, and Black Bart leaves.
- Ron is seemingly very hesitant at first, and he says that he things Loser Leaves Town matches are "stupid", but he accepts the match. He "doesn't back down from nobody".
- NWA World Television Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard w/The Perfect 10 vs. Paul Garner
- Lock up, into the ropes, no clean break from Tully.
- Tully and Garner go back and forth with amateur moves.
- Into the ropes, this time Tully gives a clean break.
- Tully with more power moves, forearms and punches.
- Out of nowhere, Tully with the slingshot suplex and 1-2-3. It's over.
- Your Winner: And still NWA World Television Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard
- Tony Schiavone is with one half of the NWA National Tag Team Champions, Arn Anderson. Arn thinks that all the guys saying they are going to take the National belts are just running their mouths. Ole appears and says that the other guys are nothing.
- In a presumably non-title match: NWA National Heavyweight Champions Ole & Arn Anderson vs. Alan Martin & Mark Cooper
- Buzz Sawyer is at ringside giving the Andersons a hard time.
- Arn goes right to work on Alan Martin.
- After beating up on Martin, Arn tags Ole in and Ole continues the punishment.
- Sawyer is beefing at ringside.
- Arn tagged back in and he's looking like he's going to rip Martin's arm out of the socket.
- Arn throws Martin into his own corner and he tags in Cooper.
- Arn throws Cooper out of the ring and Sawyer catches him.
- As Cooper goes in for a further beating, Sawyer takes Martin's place on the apron and, God only knows why, it seems that referee Tommy Young is going to allow it.
- As the Andersons are doing a beatdown on Cooper, Ole kicks Sawyer and that brings Sawyer in.
- Sawyer starts cleaning house.
- A knee to Sawyer's back by Arn stops that.
- Arn comes off the top but gets caught in a powerslam by Sawyer.
- I just don't get this...the referee starts counting a pin by Sawyer on Arn. It's a moot point because Ole comes off the top with a knee to Sawyer's back.
- The Andersons beat the snot out of Sawyer until Dick Slater runs in to make the save.
- Your Winners: I really have no idea. The Andersons' opponents should have been disqualified for Sawyer joining their team in the middle of the match, but who knows.
- That's it for this week. I guess it was only an hour show this time around.
- The Good: The incident with Magnum tearing up the suit and Flair flipping out. Nearly 25 years later, people still remember that incident.
- The Bad: Another ridiculously short Magnum TA match.
- The Ugly: Buzz Sawyer joining a jobber team in the middle of the match and the referee allowing it.
