WCW Saturday Night - Saturday, January 6th, 1996
- WCW Saturday Night is considered to be WCW's second rate television show. Most of the matches are squash matches, but also there are matches that are fairly entertaining.
- Also, it should be noted that usually the crowd isn't that big, nor do they seem that interested in what is really occurring, which is a shame.
- Let's begin the show.
- Tony Schiavone and Dusty Rhodes are the announcers.
- We start the show with a match already in progress
- Eddie Guerrero Vs The Gambler
- Gambler with a roll up but he only gets a two count.
- Side headlock by Guerrero, for quite a long time.
- Gambler with right hands, but Guerrero comes back with a back elbow and snapmare take down.
- Rear chin lock by Guerrero. Jaw breaker by Gambler and a right hand.
- Back body drop by Gambler and he delivers a few boots.
- A botched hurricanrana that the Gambler had messed up on. Guerrero sends Gambler to the floor and connects with a splash.
- Side suplex by Guerrero. Gambler comes back with a running forearm smash.
- Knees to the head by Gambler and clubs on the back of Guerrero.
- Gambler chokes Guerrero on the bottom rope.
- Nice running clothesline by Gambler and he gets a two count.
- DDT by Gambler and he gets another two count. Snapmare by Gambler and he stomps the eyes of Guerrero.
- Neck vise by Gambler. Guerrero will not give up. Gambler eventually runs into a back elbow in the corner, Guerrero with a tornado DDT.
- Guerrero connects with the brain buster and goes up top.
- Guerrero connects with the frog splash.....er... as Tony would call it... "jackknife".

- Disco Inferno Vs Big Train Bart
- They have played the complete song of Inferno, which was not needed.
- Bart with right hands, but Inferno comes back with a hip toss.
- Bart with some more right hands, and Inferno sells it really hard.
- Shoulder rams by Bart, Inferno ducks a clothesline and connects with a right hand.
- Inferno with repeated right hands. Bart regains control and chokes Inferno in the corner.
- Bart with a clothesline. Inferno comes back with right hands again, Bart comes back with a hip toss and a leg drop... two count.
- Scoop slam by Bart and he misses an elbow drop. Inferno with a swinging neck breaker... 1-2-3.
- Your Winner: Disco Inferno via pinfall after a swinging neck breaker.

- Meng w/ Hugh Morrus Vs Mike Davis
- Tony takes a shot at the WWF, by stating that WCW gives you free PPV shows, like Clash of the Champions.
- Meng with a few clubbing blows and he places Davis into a side headlock. Shoulder block by Meng and he begins to choke Davis.
- Boots to the gut by Meng. Morrus is laughing on the floor. Meng with more clubbing blows to the back of Davis.
- Meng with more repeated right hands. Meng puts the boots to Davis.
- Jumping elbow off the ropes by Meng. Davis comes back with right hands, and Meng eventually comes back with a swinging neck breaker.
- Meng places Davis into a nerve hold and Davis gives up.
- Your Winner: Meng via submission to the nerve hold.

- We come back and Tony hypes up this interview with Mr. Ditka about Mongo Michael.
- Ditka has known Mongo many years and says that Mongo could have played in any time period.
- Ditka can't sum Mongo up in just one word... "intensity" is one though.
- Says Mongo knows how to stay in shape. Tremendous strength.
- Says that Mongo was their highest rated defensive player on the Bears team.
- Says that Mongo had the warrior heart that a football player needed.
- Ditka says that he misses coaching. That statement doesn't involve Mongo whatsoever.
- Mongo is a leader to Ditka.
- This officially has nothing to do with Mongo, now they're talking just about the NFL policies about wearing socks too high?

- For the WCW World Television Title: Squire David Taylor Vs (champion) Johnny B. Badd w/Doll
- Tony mentions that Badd had a classic match at Starrcade... If I remember correctly, it was terrible.
- Side headlock takeover by Badd, but Taylor gets out of it.
- Take down by Taylor and he wrenches on the arm of Badd. Another take down by Taylor.
- Head scissors take down by Badd and he hangs on for a body scissors.
- Taylor flips out of the body scissors and Badd trips up Taylor and places him into a leg lock.
- Badd is with a nice looking reverse surfboard but Taylor will not give up.
- STF by Badd but Taylor manages to reach the bottom rope.
- Full nelson by Taylor and he snapmares Badd down... rear chin lock by Taylor.
- Commercials.
- European uppercuts by Taylor and then he trips Badd down and places him into a leg lock once again.
- Badd manages to power up and he flips Taylor into the air.
- Drop toe hold by Taylor and he places Badd into a double arm submission into a pinning combination... two count.
- Badd with a shoulder block, another, and misses a cross body attempt into the ropes.
- Taylor with a reverse neck breaker. Taylor with some clubbing blows to the back of Badd.
- Taylor goes back to wrenching on the arm, and connects with an uppercut and he chokes Badd on the top rope.
- Hammerlock take down by Taylor, Taylor gets a few near falls.
- Uppercut by Badd, Taylor comes back with an uppercut and Badd goes down.
- Snapmare take down by Taylor. Badd comes back with a DDT, and gets a two count.
- Running high knee lift by Badd. Badd dropkicks Taylor over the top to the floor.
- Taylor flips back in, and Badd connects with a mean left hook... 1-2-3.
- Your Winner: And STILL WCW World Television champion Johnny B. Badd via pinfall following a mean left hook.

- Alex Wright Vs Chris Kanyon (Yes, Kanyon)
- Arm wrench by Kanyon, and he trips Wright down. Wright comes back with a hip toss after some flipping, then a dropkick that sends Kanyon to the floor.
- Take down by Wright and he works on the wrist of Kanyon.
- Fireman carry take down by Wright and he continues to work on the arm of Kanyon.
- Right hands by Kanyon, and he takes Wright down with a shoulder block.
- Wright catches Kanyon with a springboard into the ropes using his feet.
- A couple of head scissor take downs by Wright.
- Kanyon with knees and right hands to Wright.
- Right hand to the gut by Kanyon and he connects with a Russian leg sweep... 2 count.
- They trade right hands and elbows, Kanyon connects with a stiff back elbow... 2 count.
- Repeated elbow drops by Kanyon.
- Kanyon with a nice spinning tombstone and he gets a 2 count.
- Kanyon goes up top and misses a flying cross body. Wright comes back with boots to the gut and uppercuts in the corner.
- Running back elbow, spinning wheel kick by Wright and he gets a 2 count.
- Wright goes to the top, and connects with a missile dropkick, 2 count.
- German suplex by Wright... 1-2-3!

- Morrus with a few clubbing blows to the back.
- Starr with a running cross body... 2 count and a few dropkicks.
- Starr with a few boots to the gut and he connects with a German suplex... 2 count.
- Morrus comes back with more blows to the back and a botched looking spinning heel kick.
- Morrus goes up top already and connects with the No Laughing Matter Moonsault... 1-2-3.

- Males actually get an introduction, and they come out second...
- Bagwell with a side headlock on Pillman. Bagwell with a shoulder block onto Pillman.
- Pillman with back elbows and chops onto Bagwell in the corner.
- Bagwell comes back with a hip toss and he wrenches on the arm of Pillman.
- Riggs leaps onto the arm of Pillman off the top. Bagwell comes in and wrenches on the arm some more.
- Riggs comes back in and continues to work on the arm of Pillman.
- Arn gets the tag but Riggs takes him down and works on the arm.
- Bagwell with elbows to the arm of Anderson and yanks on the arm.
- Hammerlock on the mat and Bagwell drops some knees onto the arm.
- Bagwell reverses a back suplex and connects with a scoop slam... 2 count.
- Riggs comes back in and again leaps onto the arm of Arn.
- Pillman gets the tag and places Riggs into a side headlock.
- Dropkick by Riggs and he arm drags Pillman down.
- Bagwell comes back in and works on the back and arm of Pillman.
- Bagwell catches Pillman with an atomic drop and a right hand. Pillman tags in Arn.
- Arn with a knee and he rubs Bagwell eyes onto the top rope.
- Pillman gets the tag back in and he sends Bagwell head first into the mat. Pillman goes to the top rope.
- Pillman leaps off and only places Bagwell into a sleeper. Bagwell backs Pillman into a corner and delivers right hands.
- Arn pulls Pillman out of the corner, and he takes Bagwell down with a spinning heel kick.
- Arn chokes Bagwell and delivers a blow to the gut of Bagwell.
- Back breaker by Arn. Bear hug by Arn and Bagwell is trying to get the tag to Riggs.
- Pillman gets the tag and they double team into Bagwell sending him into the corner.
- Arn comes in and clubs on the back of Bagwell.
- Rear chin lock by Arn. Bagwell fights back but runs into a knee to the gut.
- Pillman gets the tag back in only to tag back in Arn.
- Arn with right hands, Bagwell slides through Arn's legs and tags in Riggs.
- Riggs with dropkicks on both men and sunset flips Arn for a two count.
- Riggs is sent to the floor. Riggs goes to the top and sunset flips Arn again.
- Pillman knees Riggs... Arn rolls Riggs up... 1-2-3.
- Your Winners: Arn Anderson/Brian Pillman via pinfall when Arn pinned Riggs with a rollup.

- Flair, Giant and Jimmy Hart talk about destroying Hulkamania at the Clash of Champions.
- Luger says that Cobra has no chance... Obviously.

- Lex Luger w/ Jimmy Hart Vs Cobra
- Luger wrenches on the arm of Cobra, Cobra wrenches on the arm of Luger.
- They trade doing that a few times...Cobra arm drags Luger down.
- Luger misses a running splash in the corner, Cobra with another arm drag and he continues to wrench on the arm of Luger.
- Cobra continues the hold for a while.
- Luger comes back with right hands. Luger with a shoulder block. Cobra comes back with a back elbow.
- Cobra misses a dropkick attempt. Luger stomps away on Cobra.
- Luger sends Cobra to the floor and double axe handles Cobra. Luger scoop slams Cobra down.
- We get the first mention of WCW beating Japan at Starrcade.... Nearly two weeks after the fact.
- Cobra with right hands back in the ring. Luger hits some elbow drops... At least 5 of them and gets a two count.
- Rear chin lock by Luger. Luger runs into a boot and a knee by Cobra. Cobra fights back with right hands.
- Cobra with a back drop. Cobra botches a vertical suplex.
- Luger with a power slam off the ropes and he signals for the Rack.
- Luger gets him up and Cobra gives up fairly quickly.
- Your Winner: Lex Luger via submission to the Torture Rack.
- Replay of Luger winning.
- Commercials.
- Dusty and Tony talk about how Hogan and Savage cannot trust anyone.
- Hogan and Savage are "backstage". They talk about how they are the favorites in beating Giant/Flair at Clash of the Champions.
- Hogan says that he and Savage share each other problems.
- They talk about having to someday face each other to find out who is the best.
- Hogan says it doesn't matter where it is going to be... Giant and Flair are going down.
- End of Show.
- The Good: Kanyon/Wright was pretty good. Guerrero/Gambler was also decent.
- The Bad: Luger/Cobra being the Main Event.
- The Ugly: Dusty talking about nonsense.
