WCW Saturday Night - Saturday, January 13th, 1996
- I'm Back!!! After having to deal with a few health issues, I have fully recovered and will now be able to continually give past WCW results to help out DDT Digest become complete.
- So here we are. January 13th, 1996. Hulkamania is being crammed down our throat. Guys like Benoit, Guerrero, Regal and Alex Wright are performing well but aren't really hyped up that much.
- The Horsemen have seemingly not been able to defeat any "key" names.
- So, lets continue down memory lane. It's time for WCW Saturday Night!
- Opening of Saturday Night, I've always liked it for some odd reason.
- Footage of Giant destroying Hogan and Savage on Monday Night.
- Tony and Dusty Rhodes welcome us to Saturday Night on TBS.
- Savage and Flair... Tonight.... For the World Title!!
- Mike Ditka part two interview... Ugh.
- Lets head to the ring.
- Steve Armstrong Vs Alex Wright
- The "crowd noise" is in full effect as no one is really cheering for Wright.
- Wright with a headlock, but Armstrong reveres into a wrist lock. Wright pops up and arm drags Armstrong down.
- Wright works on the arm. Suplex into a cover by Wright.. 2 count.
- Wright with a head lock and a crucifix pinfall attempt... 2 count.
- Armstrong reverses that pin attempt into a head scissors submission.
- Wright gets out of the hold.
- This fake crowd noise is ridiculous.
- Wright with a take down and Armstrong comes back and connects with a semi-exploder suplex.. 2 count
- Armstrong works away on Wright in the corner. Wright slides through the legs of Steve and connects with two head scissors take downs.
- Wright dropkicks Armstrong through the middle rope to the floor.
- Armstrong is walking around the ring trying to slow things down.
- Side headlock by Armstrong. Wright begins to reverse into a top wrist lock, and takes Armstrong down.
- Top wrist lock pin?... 2 count
- Wright continues working on the arm. Armstrong comes back with right hands in the corner, and takes Wright down with a shoulder breaker.. 2 count.
- Front slam by Armstrong and he gets a 2 count.
- Sit down power bomb by Armstrong.. 2 count.
- A vicious chop by Armstrong against the ropes. Armstrong with a shoulder block.
- Wright sends Armstrong head first into the turnbuckle pad while on the apron.
- Wright leaps over the top for a splash but Armstrong gets his knees up.
- Wright reverses a scoop slam into a small package... 1-2-3!

- Randy Savage does a quick promo on Flair.
- Hotline plug by Gene. What a rip off.

- Tony hypes up Nitro and Clash of Champions.
- Scott Armstrong Vs Eddie Guerrero
- I wonder if the whole Armstrong family will be joining us tonight?
- I also wonder if they all lose tonight?
- Stalemate to start, Guerrero takes Scott down and works on the left leg.
- Scott reveres into an Indian death lock of sorts.
- Scott switches into a modified surfboard. Which doesn't look correct.
- Scott with an elbow to the back of Guerrero. Back body drop by Scott... 2 count.
- Forearm shots to the back of Guerrero. Camel clutch on Guerrero.
- Scott just started a "Eddie" chant that a whole three people go with...
- Scott continues with elbow drops to the back of Guerrero.
- Scoop slam on Guerrero... 2 count. Rear chin lock on Guerrero.
- Guerrero comes back with a dropkick. Guerrero with a scoop slam. Sling shot swanton off the apron onto Scott.. 2 count.
- Guerrero dropkicks the knee of Scott, and goes back to a single leg hold.
- Scott knees the back of Guerrero and head butts Guerrero out of the hold.
- Modified abdominal stretch by Scott. Head butts to the back of Guerrero and connects with a back breaker.. 2 count.
- A few knee drops the back of Guerrero. Vertical suplex by Scott... 2 count.
- Guerrero comes back with an impressive brain buster.. Goes to the top rope and connects with the "jackknife" as Tony calls it..
- I call it the FROG SPLASH... Guerrero gets the 1-2-3.

- Kevin "I bark" Sullivan w/ Jimmy "I really don't need a microphone" Hart Vs Butch Long
- I feel bad for Butch. Sullivan with quick boots to the gut of Butch.
- Sullivan sends Butch into the railing and the ring steps. Butch rolls down the steps by the ringside area.
- Butch ignorantly comes back up. Sullivan places Butch into the tree of woe.
- Sullivan with a running knee, and the double stomp.. 1-2-3

- American Males do a short promo for their match against.. Men at Work
- Gene sells WCW calling cards.. 14.99 per each card... how pathetic

- We come back and Gene hypes up the Hotline..
- Someone from the WWF could be coming to WCW..
- American Males (Riggs/Bagwell) Vs Men At Work (Kanyon/Mark Starr)
- Another Commercial.
- Kanyon and Bagwell start the match off. Kanyon with the early advantage.
- Bagwell comes back with a wrist lock. Kanyon drop toe holds Bagwell down.
- Bagwell reverses into a few knees to the back. Kanyon gets to the ropes.
- Kanyon with a side headlock. Bagwell with a couple of rights, Kanyon comes off the ropes and shoulder blocks Bagwell down.
- Bagwell goes off the ropes and hip tosses Kanyon down. Starr comes down, Riggs comes in, and Males connect with a double dropkick!
- Men at Work roll to the outside.
- Starr gets the legal tag. Starr boots Bagwell in the gut and backs Bagwell to the corner but Bagwell comes back, tags Riggs and Riggs connects with a double axe handle.
- Riggs wrenches on the arm of Starr. Starr with a few overhand rights to Riggs.
- Riggs leapfrogs over Starr and connects with a dropkick. Bagwell wrenches on the arm of Starr.
- Snapmare take down and Bagwell wrenches on the arm of Starr... how thrilling.
- Starr pokes Bagwell's eyes and delivers a few boots in the corner and chokes Bagwell.
- Bagwell with a sunset flip cover out of the corner.. 1 count.
- Bagwell comes back with a knee lift and gets a 2 count.
- Riggs gets the tag. Double back body drop. Riggs with a scoop slam.
- Riggs with a big splash.. 2 count.
- Riggs works on the arm.. Again.
- Kanyon grabs the leg of Riggs coming off the ropes and Starr chop blocks the knee of Riggs.
- Kanyon works on the knee of Riggs behind the referee's back.
- Kanyon legally comes in and continues to work on the knee with a few elbow drops to the knee.
- Kanyon with a leg lock of sorts. Kanyon continues with the elbows to the knee.
- Half Boston crab by Kanyon and Starr is helping Kanyon gain leverage.
- Kanyon grabs Riggs by the leg goes to the middle rope and leaps over Riggs's to add impact the knee.
- Riggs with a kick to the back of the head of Kanyon. Riggs tags in Bagwell.
- Starr is in and Bagwell is cleaning house. Cross body onto Starr, Kanyon elbows Starr..
- Kanyon comes back with a back elbow on Bagwell.
- Double vertical suplex onto Riggs.
- Bagwell with a top rope clothesline onto Starr.. 1-2-3
- Your Winner: American Males via pinfall after a top rope clothesline
- Gene is standing with Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage.
- Hogan says for every choke slam, it gets easier getting up.
- Hogan guarantees Savage will win the title tonight.
- Savage of course agrees.
- They have some sort of secret weapon... And its NOT the Renegade..
- We cut to a promo by Ric Flair.. The World Champion

- I believe this occurred at Starrcade 1995.. And they are just reporting it.

- We come back and Tony and Dusty show us the ending of the Nitro main event..
- Zodiac basically protecting Hogan and Savage.
- V.K. Wallstreet Vs Mr. J.L.
- Top wristlock by Wallstreet only for JL to reverse. VK into the ropes.
- VK wrenches on the arm of JL, JL reverses into one of his own.
- JL with a roll up.. 2 count
- Side headlock onto Wallstreet. VK sends JL to the floor.
- VK rams JL into the apron. VK with a leg drop.. 2 count.
- Rear chin lock by VK. JL comes back but VK takes him back down with a knee to the gut.
- JL with a rollup.. 2 count.
- VK again with a rear chin lock.. Again. Abdominal stretch by VK and uses the ropes for leverage.
- VK misses a splash... JL with a kick to the head.. Missile dropkick off the top.
- JL with a flying cross body... 2 count
- JL looks for a crucifix pin.. But VK hangs on and connects with the Stock Market Crash!.. 1-2-3

- Gene is standing with Giant, Jimmy Hart, and Ric Flair.
- Hart hypes up both Giant and Flair.
- Giant says no matter what, he will be able to destroy Savage and Hogan.
- Flair talks about woman being with the both of them.
- That was not a good segment.

- Dusty and Tony hype up Mongo... Obviously he will be a wrestler soon enough.
- Basically Eric and Mike are just talking about old football stories.
- Mike says that Dick Butkis and Mongo would have been roommates and are really the same.
- This is really, and I mean REALLY pointless.
- They are really just reliving events that occurred eleven years ago.
- Oh geez, WCW appears to trying to get Mike Ditka to be Mongo's manager.

- Meng with an arm drag. Meng with kicks and chokes Wolfe in the corner.
- Clubbing blow to the back of Wolfe. Back breaker by Meng. Another back breaker... 2 count.
- Shoulder breaker on Wolfe, and the Golden Spike!! Wolfe gives up.
- Your Winner: Meng via submission with the Golden Spike.
- Meng will be facing Hogan on Monday Night.
- Footage of Luger and Sting from Nitro. Sting and Luger appear to be a tag team now.

- Gene is standing with Col. Robert Parker and Sherri Martel.
- Parker with a few rather sexual references to Martel and cigars.
- For the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: (champion) Ric Flair w/ Jimmy Hart and The Giant Vs Randy Savage w/ Hulk Hogan
- Well, the crowd is actually showing emotion for Hulk Hogan.
- Zodiac has come out to the ring and is telling Giant to go backstage?
- Hogan is also going backstage.
- This is going to be a simple one-on-one match.. With a screw job ending most likely.
- Commercials .
- Savage with a headlock takedown. Flair with a poke to the eyes. Flair delivers a few chops and a fist to the face.
- Savage with a backslide.. 2 count.
- Savage with right hands in the corner. Savage with a back body drop.
- Flair rolls to the floor, which leads Savage to floor. Nothing occurs.
- Savage with a shoulder block.. 2 count.
- Flair misses a right, but delivers a few chops. Savage comes back with jabs.. 2 count.
- Front face lock by Savage. Savage with a knee to the gut.
- Flair with an elbow to take Savage down. Flair with a fist to the nose of Savage.
- Flair with a knee drop and Savage rolls to the floor. Jimmy Hart begins to deliver a few kicks to Savage.
- Flair sends Savage into the guard rail. Flair with a right hand and chop.
- Savage has grabbed a cane and goes into the ring, but doesn't use it.
- Flair with a back suplex.... 2 count.
- Savage comes back with right hands, but Flair chops Savage back down.
- Flair with clubbing blows to the back. Flair with a delayed vertical suplex.
- Flair goes for the cover... 2 count
- A few more covers but Flair only gets a two count.
- Flair begins to leap hard onto the knee of Savage.
- A knee breaker in the middle of the ring and hooks Savage with the figure four!!
- Savage is trying to hang on. Flair is using the ropes for leverage and begins to slap Savage.
- Savage reverses the figure four and Flair lets go.
- Savage drops Flair throat first onto the ropes. Flair flips in the corner and is on the apron.
- Flair goes up top, and Savage slams Flair down. Savage with a few clotheslines.
- Savage connects with the Flying Elbow but Hart distracts the referee.
- Hogan comes out and beats up Flair.
- Arn Anderson comes in and hits Savage with brass knuckles.
- Flair is on top for the cover... 1-2-3. But the referee sees what has transpired.
- Your Winner: Randy Savage via disqualification
- Ric Flair retains the World Title, which the only thing that matters here.
- Tony is with Hogan and Savage. Savage is still out of it.
- Hogan says Savage should be the champion.
- He is sick of the Dungeon of Doom and the Horsemen.
- Savage forgets his opponent on Monday Night... whom is Luger.
- But is able to remember the secret weapon?
- This secret weapon better be good.

- The Good: The opening contest and Main Event were decent.
- The Bad: Everything else.
- The Ugly: Every match seemingly had the same exact offense. Shoulder breaker, arm locks, and everything else.
