WCW Clash of Champions #32 - Tuesday, January 23rd, 1996
- Tonight is WCW's biggest show thus far in the new year.
- Tonight there will be a big tag team match of Savage/Hogan taking on Flair/Giant.
- What makes this more interesting is that Savage just beat Flair last night to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.
- However, Hogan, Savage's partner, believes he (Hogan) should be the World Champion.
- I don't want either of them to be the champion, but I'm not the booker.
- The new World Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Luger/Sting defend the titles against the rarely ever seen tag team of the Blue Bloods.
- Before I begin, I have a cheap plug... I am starting a website full of wrestling reviews from all promotions. I will be using the great format from DDT Digest....
- So once everything is situated and I actually have some reviews up, I will post the details so everyone can enjoy
- Enough of that. On with the show...
- We are LIVE from Las Vegas, Nevada for two hours of Clash of the Champions!!
- They give us a thirty second review of recent events.
- Footage of Savage defeating Flair to win the World Title.
- Basically showing the newly found drama between two friends.
- Speaking of drama between friends... Luger and Sting have won the World Heavyweight Tag Team Championship after beating Harlem Heat.
- An opening video going over the matches and the wedding that will be occurring tonight.
- Which includes three tag team matches.
- Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan are commentating tonight and what else is new... they continue to hype up the situation between Hogan and Savage.
- Heenan says the surprise tonight from Hogan and Savage is that Miss Elizabeth is coming back tonight.
- The Road Warriors are in the building tonight!
- We go to Gene who is in downtown Las Vegas at a chapel for the marriage of Colonel Parker and Sherri Martel
- Public Enemy (Rock/Grunge) Vs Nasty Boys (Saggs/Knobbs)
- This is going to be a slug fest.
- Grunge and Knobbs begin trading rights as Saggs and Rock fall to the outside.
- Knobbs with a clothesline in the ring on Grunge.
- Saggs sends Rock into the guard railing.
- Rock sends Saggs into the railing.
- Knobbs misses a splash in the corner and Grunge connects with a back suplex.
- Rock and Saggs are still fighting on the floor. Rock lands groin first on the railing.
- Grunge is taunting in the ring. Grunge charges towards Knobbs but Grunge is sent over the top to the floor.
- Saggs has gone to the back and grabbed a table.
- Knobbs misses a dive onto Grunge and lands on the railing.
- Rock and Saggs are now in the ring with a table in the corner.
- Rock connects with a running bulldog. Rock takes Knobbs down with a flying forearm shot.
- Moonsault by Rock on Knobbs... 2 count.
- Knobbs takes Rock down with a back elbow. Rock is then clotheslined off the apron into the railing.
- Saggs takes Grunge down with a piledriver!
- The Nasty Boys set the table up... which doesn't look like a fixed table.
- The referee has called for the bell...
- Knobbs is placed on the table and Rock connects with a moonsault. But the table doesn't break!
- Saggs comes in and hits both members of Public Enemy with a piece of the table.
- Saggs even throws the table repeated times into Grunge going all the way to the back!
- Your Winners: Double Disqualification.
- That was a good way to get the crowd going.
- Dean Malenko battles Alex Wright, coming up next!
- Commercials.
- We come back and Eric Bischoff is standing in the aisle way.
- He introduces the Giant and Ric Flair along with Jimmy Hart.
- Flair doesn't care about losing the title because Savage has to be in the ring with Giant and himself.
- Giant declares that tonight Hogan and Savage will be taken off the face of the earth...
- Its all over for Hogan and Savage... So they say.
- They laugh...

- Dean Malenko Vs Alex Wright
- Footage of Malenko trying to injure Alex Wright on the latest edition of Saturday Night.
- Wright isn't dancing his way to the ring... he actually looks serious.
- Wright with a side headlock take down but Malenko comes back with a head scissors... Wright pops up.
- The same sequence occurs but switch them.
- Wright with an arm lock. Malenko leg sweep, Wright down, and Wright pops up quickly.
- Wright reverses a back suplex. After a series of flips and counter flips, Wright takes Malenko down with a dropkick and then a head scissors take down.
- Malenko quickly rolls to the floor and is frustrated... He shows emotion!
- Snapmare by Wright, Malenko ducks a wild kick and connects with an elbow drop to the legs.
- Malenko with a knee drop to the knee, and dropkicks the knee of Wright.
- Malenko wraps the leg of Wright around the ring post.
- Malenko with a sick looking dragon screw and goes to a single leg lock.
- Wright gets to the ropes after a few moments.
- The crowd is dead for this match.
- Malenko with a few knees to the knee of Wright.
- Wright with an elbow, leaps to the middle rope and connects with a cross body... 2 count.
- Wright with a few European uppercuts, Malenko looks for a backslide but Wright reverses into a dropkick.
- Back suplex by Malenko. Malenko goes to the top rope but Wright dropkicks Malenko.
- Wright hooks Malenko on the top and connects with a superplex!
- Wright with a German suplex... 2 count.
- Malenko reverses a German suplex, and blocks a dropkick. Malenko takes Wright down with a forearm shot.
- Wright flips off of Malenko but Malenko dropkicks the knee of Wright and rolls over for the cover...1-2-3!
- Your Winner: Dean Malenko via pinfall
- Kevin Sullivan battles Disco Inferno coming up next!

- Kevin Sullivan w/Jimmy Hart Vs Disco Inferno/Elvis Impersonator
- Some Elvis impersonator comes out to Inferno's music while eating a sandwich?
- You got to be kidding me. Elvis attempts a promo and has a telegram.
- Elvis does a terrible singing telegram telling Sullivan that Inferno is at the wedding.
- Sullivan simply double stomps Elvis and sends him to the floor.
- I don't believe we will be having a match.

- Gene is in front of the church and here comes Dick Slater and Bunkhouse Buck.
- A stupid promo about Parker gambling $1,500 at a craps table.
- We comeback and Eric invites the new WCW Tag Team Champions Sting and Lex Luger to cut an interview.
- Eric is saying they won via controversy, Luger quickly becomes defensive.
- Quickly, the Road Warriors make their way out to the aisle way.
- Animal disagrees with Eric saying that Sting and Luger are the most powerful tag team.
- The newly debuting Road Warriors already want the Tag Titles.
- Luger quickly steps in and wants to give Nasty Boys, Harlem Heat and American Males title shots.
- Luger insults Animal. Hawk says that Animal back is too big for Luger's rack.
- Hawk barely gets his "What a RUSSSH" in.
- Paul Orndorff promo on his neck injury coming up next.
- Commercials.
- Paul is sitting on a bench with a neck brace. Paul has a career ending injury thanks to Pillman.
- Paul was "on a roll" until Pillman ruined his life. I don't recall him winning a singles match.
- Paul is really bitter about the Horsemen. Says that the Horsemen don't know what respect really is.
- Footage of the attack on Nitro. Paul says he turned the Horsemen down back in the day.
- Paul rambles on about being crippled... We get it... You're proud of who you are...
- Doesn't it seem scary... One guy... Wanting four guys in the ring?
- Gary Spivey, Paul's motivational speaker fellow, is in the crowd.
- We go back to Gene. Col. Robert Parker has arrived!
- Parker needs $50 for his own wedding!
- Parker answers his ridiculously large cell phone.
- Martel is on the other line and Parker tells her to not worry about anything.
- Trouble in paradise already?
- Commercials.
- Brian "Loose Cannon" Pillman Vs Eddie Guerrero
- Pillman has a cane for some reason. Pillman is a crazy man.
- Pillman really working the crowd well.
- The referee, Randy Anderson looks like he doesn't care a whole lot for this contest.
- Pillman is playing games with Guerrero by flashing the Horsemen hand signal to him.
- Guerrero shoves Pillman and Pillman rolls to the floor. Pillman even shoves Tony Schiavone.
- Side headlock by Guerrero on Pillman. Guerrero takes Pillman down with a shoulder block and Guerrero dropkicks Pillman through the middle rope to the floor.
- Pillman is grabbing Heenan's coat and what not... and uh oh..
- Heenan just said the F-word on national television.
- Heenan appears to have taken a walk to regain composure. Heenan quickly apologizes when he comes back.
- Back in the ring, Guerrero with chops and boots and nice tilt-a-whirl back breaker! Pillman begins to bite the face of Guerrero in the corner.
- Pillman with a chop and boot to the midsection of Guerrero.
- Pillman with a slap to the face on the mat. Pillman with a snap mare and he places Guerrero into a headlock.
- Guerrero comes back with elbows, comes off the ropes and takes Pillman down with a dropkick.
- Guerrero again comes off the rope and Pillman lifts him into the air but Guerrero takes Pillman down with another dropkick.
- Pillman rolls to the floor. Pillman comes and Guerrero beats on him. Pillman comes back with boots but Guerrero sends Pillman into the corner and connects with a nice tornado DDT! He only gets a 2 count.
- Guerrero with some more chops and slaps in the corner.
- Guerrero misses a clothesline in the corner.. Pillman goes for the cover using the ropes for leverage... 2 count.
- Guerrero comes back with a school boy... 2 count.
- They both come off the ropes and connect with a cross body but Pillman lands on Guerrero for the cover... 1-2-3.
- Your Winner: Brian Pillman via pinfall
- Eddie Guerrero is disappointed in himself.
- We go to Eric Bischoff and he rambles for a moment.
- He hypes up Randy Savage.
- Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan and from the Pittsburgh Steelers... Kevin Greene!
- Kevin Greene should be a Raider, the man is crazy.
- Hogan calls Greene "Lean, Mean, Greene".
- How creative. Savage repeats the nickname Hogan just created.
- All three "Oh, Yeah".... I say "Oh, No".
- Hogan rips into Giant and Ric Flair, and asks Greene what would he do?
- Greene says he would put on his pads (which isn't legal in the ring) and tackle them down... Just like the Steelers did over the Cowboys.
- They appear to have a problem, and wonders which one of them will take Elizabeth out on the town.
- Savage says... He is too much for the Cowboys to handle...
- Poor Cowboys...

- For the WCW World Heavyweight Tag Team Titles: The Blue Bloods (Regal/Eaton) Vs (champs) Sting/Lex Luger
- Considering I haven't seen the Blue Bloods win a tag team match since who knows when, the Tag Team ranking system in WCW must be a little off.
- But yeah, I'd like to see Regal in action, so all is forgiven... as long as he isn't buried.
- Commercials.
- We come back and Regal/Sting start things off in the ring.
- They stall by mocking each other. Sting gets the crowd to chant his name, so he doesn't forget.
- Regal with an arm wrench and Sting reverses into one of his own.
- How many gorilla press slams by Sting?
- Sting with a shoulder block takedown on Regal, followed by a side headlock.
- Regal sends Sting into the ropes and Sting takes him down with a dropkick.
- Regal gets up and walks into a right hand by Luger and the hand clapper by Sting.
- Which Regal sells very well I might add.
- Eaton gets the tag in, Sting backs Eaton into a corner and tags in Luger.
- Luger with forearm shots and Eaton quickly sends Luger to the floor.
- Eaton charges, but Luger backdrops him down on the floor and connects with a running forearm attack.
- Luger sends Eaton back into the ring. Eaton tags Regal back in.
- After Luger does his pectoral taunt.
- Regal is backed into a corner and tells Luger to "unhand me".
- Regal rakes the eyes of Luger and delivers a few European uppercuts.
- Eaton gets the tag back in. Eaton connects with a right hand on Luger.
- Luger comes back with right hands, but Regal on the apron pokes Luger in the eyes and Eaton connects with a swinging neck breaker.
- Regal with an elbow drop off the ropes... 2 count.
- Regal with a snap mare and connects with a knee to the head of Luger... 2 count.
- Tag in to Eaton who holds Luger and Regal delivers blows to the body.
- Eaton goes to the top rope and connects with a nice top rope knee drop.
- Regal gets the tag and Regal places Luger in the Regal Stretch (STF).
- Eaton gets the tag, and goes to the top looking for a cross body but Luger catches, well, drops Eaton.
- After they both get up from the botched move, Eaton and Luger come off the ropes and head butt each other.
- Luger tags in Sting, Sting takes both men down with right hands.
- Regal pokes the eyes of Sting, Luger sent to the outside.
- Regal sends Stings into the ropes and Eaton who was on the top rope leaps off double axe handling Regal by mistake.
- Sting quickly goes to Eaton for the Scorpion death lock, Eaton gives up.
- Your Winners: And still WCW World Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Sting and Luger Luger via submission.
- We go to Gene and they are outside of the wedding chapel.
- Sister Sherri arrives as Harlem Heat do not like the food given.
- Sherri finds out about the gambling of Parker.
- Buck and Slater lost the key to the trailer... Sherri is crying.
- We go back to Heenan and Tony who don't know really what to say.
- So, let's go to Eric Bischoff so he can promote "CompuServe" while Jimmy Hart is talking to people.
- Eric brings out Brian Pillman. Why not do this before when he had a match?
- Brian threatens to say the "7 words not allowed to be said on TV".
- Brian says you can only earn respect, not buy it.
- Brian says Kevin Sullivan is mad with greed!
- Brian says he isn't Hogan, Savage or Sting but instead... Brian Pillman!
- He will do whatever he has to do....
- Coming up next... Mexican Title on the line, Konnan defends against Psychosis.
- For the Mexican Heavyweight Title: (champion) Konnan Vs Psychosis
- Mike Tenay joins the announcers for this match.
- Tenay knows everything about the cruiserweights.
- Konnan's belt looks completely fake and ridiculous... Barely even stays on his waist.
- Konnan quickly takes Psycho down to the outside.
- They come back in and Psycho springboards off the ropes but nothing occurs.
- Konnan takes Psycho down and has an impressive submission hold, opposite of a head scissors.
- They get up and Konnan connects with a nice German suplex, and takes Psycho down with a release German suplex!
- Apparently Konnan is a star in Mexico... literally, a movie star.
- Drop toe hold by Konnan and he is simply pushing down on the side of Psycho's head.
- Psycho with a spinning heel kick, Tenay mentions Jake Roberts losing a hair vs. hair match in Mexico... I believe Roberts is with WWF at this time... Oops.
- Anyway, Konnan runs to the ropes and connects with an arm drag off the ropes, and connects with a few more arm drags.
- Dropkick right to the knee of Psycho and plants him with a DDT!
- Psycho rolls to a corner, and Konnan backdrops Psychosis onto the apron.
- Konnan then literally waits ten seconds for a missile dropkick.
- Konnan falls to the floor and Psycho connects with a suicide dive over the top rope!
- They get back to the ring and somehow Konnan has the advantage... Konnan with a German suplex off the top rope!!!
- Konnan with a modified standing figure four... Psycho taps out.
- Your Winner: And still Mexican Heavyweight Champion, Konnan via submission.
- Sherri is changing in the backseat of a car.
- Insert joke here... Wait, Gene already did...
- It appears Gene will be walking Sherri down the aisle.
- Wedding is coming up next...

- The wedding will be occurring through the drive thru, but not in a car.
- Sherri has her Harlem Heat get up on, no white today!
- Sherri doesn't know what Gene is talking about.
- Disco Inferno randomly comes over and begins to dance...
- Anyway, they arrive at the drive thru and Parker is so excited.
- Slater is crying? Tough guy...
- Sherri is so nervous "my shoes are about to come off"... What?
- This drive thru person sucks at her job...
- No one objects to the wedding, but wait a second...
- Madusa comes walking over and sends Sherri across the food table!!!
- Sherri and Madusa are brawling... Parker is trying to stop it...
- Booker comes over but slips in the cake on the ground...
- Booker is clearing laughing while picking Sherri up, so is Stevie!
- Madusa had came out of Parker's trailer... obviously you know what happened...
- No wedding.

- We come back for Tony to tell us the Main Event is next...

- Michael Buffer does his usual introduction...
- The Giant/Ric Flair w/Jimmy Hart Vs Hulk Hogan/Randy Savage w/Kevin Greene and Elizabeth and bunch of women, including Hogan's wife.
- Buffer says it's unbelievable that Miss Elizabeth is back... too bad Hogan and Savage have continually said she will be here.
- Another commercial.
- Flair and Savage start off the match. Greene has stepped into the ring and wants Flair..
- Greene wanted to have a football stance, Flair bails... Smart man.
- Flair backs Savage into a corner and deliver chops.
- Savage with a backdrop and a few clotheslines. Savage with right hands and he sends Flair into the corner.
- Flair flip, Flair walks the apron and walks into a big boot from Hogan.
- Flair is backing off of Savage. Flair with a boot to the gut, and again a few chops.
- Giant clubs on the back of Savage. Savage comes off the ropes and has the backslide... 2 count.
- Savage with a few jabs... Hogan with a right hand from the apron.
- Flair stumbles to his corner and tags in Giant.
- Hogan actually wants the tag? Hogan comes in!
- Giant quickly shoves Hogan into a corner, and does the same thing again.
- Side headlock by Hogan, Hogan comes off the ropes and Giant shoulder blocks Hogan.
- Giant with a scoop slam on Hogan. Giant with a boot and elbow to the back of Hogan's head.
- Hogan is down, but Greene and Elizabeth cheering him on.
- Giant with a head butt to the midsection of Hogan. Giant with a backbreaker and he keeps Hogan on his knee and pulls down.
- Giant comes off the ropes and misses an elbow drop.
- Hogan wants to slam him and of course he does.
- Hogan needs to tag, but can't find the corner. Flair with a delayed vertical suplex, which Hogan no sells and Hulks Up.
- Hogan with a backdrop on Flair! Hogan takes Flair down and punches Giant..
- Flair comes back and sends him to Giant... Giant sends Hogan into the guard railing and sends Hogan back into the ring.
- Flair chop, Hogan no sells.
- Flair with a back elbow to a charging Hogan... Flair up top, slam from Hogan and he tags in Savage.
- Savage up top and he connects with a double axe handle...
- Savage goes up top and Hogan clotheslines Giant to the floor.
- Savage with an elbow drop onto Flair... Hart is on the apron.
- Flair has brass knuckles and he whacks Savage... Flair for the pin... 1-2-3!
- Your Winners: The Giant and Ric Flair via pinfall
- Zodiac and Pillman come to the ring only for them both to be sent to the floor by Greene and Hogan.
- Hogan and Savage talk things over, but we can't hear of course...
- I guess something has gone in the back.... But we won't know because were out of time!
- End of Show
- The Good: The Giant and Flair getting a win... Konnan looked pretty darn good.. The wedding segments were pretty good for being comedic, presumably that was intended.
- The Bad: Sullivan and Elvis brawl or whatever that was.
- The Ugly: the fact that five days later, even Steelers player Kevin Greene was talking a ridiculous amount of trash about Super Bowl opponent Dallas Cowboys, the Steelers would lose by ten... Fun Fact.
