WCW Super Brawl 6 - Sunday, February 11th, 1996
- Tonight, WCW presents their sixth annual Super Brawl spectacular. A pretty good looking card.
- A falls-count-anywhere match, a strap match, two Tag Team Title matches, and two Steel Cage matches.
- But then there are a few question marks. Why is One Man Gang getting title shots?
- How in the world have the Road Warriors managed to get a title shot? After being in WCW for less than a month?
- Where are Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero or Alex Wright? They could easily take the place of One Man Gang in his title match, but no.
- How in the world has Diamond Dallas Page been able to get constant Television Title matches when he continually loses to Johnny B. Badd?
- Enough of my questions, let's get on with the show, shall we?
- We are LIVE from Saint Petersburg, Florida for Super Brawl 6!
- Opening video covers all the matches that are on tonight's pay-per-view.
- Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Dusty Rhodes welcome us to tonight's show.
- All three simply hype up the two cage matches.
- Let's start the matches!
- Street Fight: Public Enemy (Rocco Rock/Johnny Grunge) Vs Nasty Boys (Knobbs/Saggs)
- Well, as expected, these four men quickly brawl to the floor.
- Fifteen seconds into the match, Rock grabs a table and Saggs whacks Rock over the back several times with a chair.
- Grunge takes Saggs out with a few chair shots. Rock brings the table to ring area.
- Knobbs slams Rock off the apron through the table! Two count.
- Saggs brings over a trash can and whacks Grunge several times over the head with the lid.
- Inside the ring, Saggs has Grunge hooked up and connects with a pile driver onto the trash can!
- Rock and Knobbs head over to the side of the entrance way, and Knobbs suplexes Rock through a table.
- All four men eventually are in the same area, next to the entrance way.
- Grunge with a running bulldog onto a chair on Saggs.
- Later, Rock is on the balcony of sorts and leaps off, missing a dive through a table. Knobbs covers Rock for the win!
- Your Winners: The Nasty Boys via pinfall
- That was, again, a pretty good opener by these two tag teams.
- We go to Gene who, of course, hypes up his hotline.
- "We have the latest on two former World Wrestling Federation champions coming to WCW..." Hmmm...
- Konnan enters the picture. Konnan is looking down, maybe at cue cords, but not in the correct camera.
- Konnan thanks the fans, and says he will retain his US Heavyweight Title.
- Your basic average mid-carder interview for the night.
- For the WCW Television Championship: © Johnny B. Badd w/ Kimberly Vs DDP
- This is simple. IF DDP wins, he gets the Television Title.
- If, or, when Johnny wins, he wins the now 6.6 million dollars that Page basically stole from Kimberly, aka Diamond Doll.
- Page brought roses to the ring for Kimberly, only to be attacked by Badd from behind. Maybe Page is trying to change?
- Early on, Badd connects with the leg drop off the apron over the top rope into the ring move. Only for a 2 count.
- Usual, punches, kicks, and low blows by Page for several moments.
- Page has Badd down after a gut buster, but goes to Kimberly for a "10" on the move. Which she doesn't give him.
- Badd attempts to come back, but Page plants Badd with a jumping DDT. However, Page taunts the crowd.
- Kimberly proceeds to get a "0" card and Page is livid.
- Badd comes back and takes Page down after several left/right combos.
- After a double axe handle off the tope, Kimberly puts up a "10".
- That move isn't THAT good.
- Badd almost wins after a leaping sunset flip into a rollup.
- Page with a ridiculous jumping, spinning tombstone pile driver.
- Later, after using almost the same EXACT move, Badd manages to pull out the victory.
- Your Winner: And STILL WCW Television Champion Johnny B. Badd via pinfall.
- Replay of the match.
- Gene is standing with... Harlem Heat!
- Stevie Ray says that Sting and Luger are on their "hit list".
- Booker T really says the same thing that Ray said.
- Gene mentions that whomever wins face the Road Warriors.
- Harlem Heat do not even respond to that.
- Bobby, Tony and Dusty talk about the "problems" between Sting and Luger.
- For the WCW World Hevyweight Tag Team Championships: Harlem Heat Vs © Sting/Lex Luger
- For quite a while the contest is simply brawling. With just punching and the occasional slam.
- A terrible clothesline by Luger on Booker T, for the botched move of the contest.
- Ray with a not-so-good-looking power bomb onto Luger.
- Stevie has Luger hooked for another power bomb, but the Road Warriors come down to the ring and hit Ray with a lead pipe or something.
- Which causes Stevie to go down and Luger gains the pinfall.
- Your Winners: And Still WCW World Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Sting/Luger via pinfall
- Luger and Sting now do an interview with Gene.
- Both men are both oblivious to the fact that the Road Warriors helped them win.
- Well, that was really pointless.
- The announcers continue to hype up the cage matches and the tag team situations.
- For the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship: One Man Gang Vs © Konnan
- Neither man gets any reaction. Not surprising, considering Konnan has been in WCW for about three weeks, and no one even cares about One Man Gang.
- Konnan is really just jumping all over the place. Whether that be on the floor or in the ring to try and get Gang down.
- Gang has the advantage for a good portion of the match.
- Later, Konnan with a not-so-great hurricanrana and a few dropkicks, but that doesn't last.
- Gang with the 747 splash, but he pulls Konnan up. Gang proceeds to miss a slow big splash off the top.
- Konnan with an somersault splash off the top onto Gang... 1-2-3.
- Your Winner: And STILL WCW US Heavyweight Champion, Konnan via pinfall.
- We go backstage for Gene to tell us that a sewer pipe has broken and things are coming down.
- After a hotline shill, the Road Warriors come into the picture and cut a promo on the two tag teams in the previous tag team match.
- They "apologize" but later say they don't care for screwing Harlem Heat over.
- "Respect" Strap Match: Kevin Sullivan w/ Jimmy Hart Vs Brian Pillman
- The way to win is for your opponent to say "I Respect You".
- Wow, Pillman is just whipping Sullivan with the strap several times.
- Sullivan punches Pillman, Pillman gets up and grabs a microphone and says... "I respect you, booker man!"
- Pillman simply walks to the back as the crowd isn't too happy.
- Sullivan waits in the ring, and Arn Anderson comes out.
- Your Winner: Kevin Sullivan via Pillman saying "I respect you"
- "Respect" Strap Match: Kevin Sullivan w/ Jimmy Hart Vs Arn Anderson
- Anderson had the advantage for a moment, but Sullivan whips Arn several times.
- Arn comes back and is choking Sullivan with the strap.
- Both men go to the floor, and both go head first into the ring post.
- Eventually, Ric Flair comes running to the ring and is telling both men to stop it.
- Flair basically says that they need to focus on Hogan and Savage.
- "United we stand, divided we fall." by Flair.
- Flair says he will be taking the World belt, and Savage's wife Elizabeth.
- Arn and Sullivan shake hands.
- Your Winner: No Contest, thanks to Flair clearing everything up
- Gene is standing with Jimmy Hart and The Giant.
- Hart says that Hulkamania is coming to an end tonight.
- Giant says the "evil inside continues to build up."
- Well, it was a decent interview, until the end where it seemed like Giant was about to cry.
- For the WCW World Tag Team Titles: Road Warriors Vs © Sting/Lex Luger
- Luger walks back to the entrance way, having second thoughts on the whole idea of facing the Road Warriors.
- Wow, it's been at least five minutes, and Luger is still stalling.
- Sting gets worked on for a few moments, by both Warriors.
- Sting comes back and eventually tags in Luger. Luger appears to be "nervous".
- Luger is sent to the floor by the Warriors and is sent into the railing.
- Luger punches Hawk a couple times and tags in Sting.
- This is one boring match.
- One arm leaping bulldog by Sting on Animal. Sting misses a top rope splash as Animal gets his knees up.
- Hawk takes Luger down with clotheslines and a leaping leg drop.
- Soon after, Sting connects with the Stinger Splash on Animal, and goes for the Scorpion Death Lock. Only for Hawk to come over and clothesline Sting.
- Double team on Sting...
- Eventually all four men just battle to the floor and fight their way to the back.
- Your Winner: No Contest. Sting and Lex Luger retain the Tag Team titles.
- Gene is backstage with Ric Flair and Woman.
- Woman says "What Woman wants, Woman gets", referring to the World Title.
- Flair cuts a promo on the exact events he did in the ring earlier.
- The theme music for Super Brawl brings the cage down.
- The music doesn't really reflect the "violence" that the stell cage presents.
- So, we instead go to a video to promote WCW Uncensored 1996.
- On the 24th of March.
- Gene is with Elizabeth, before she can say anything, World Champion Randy Savage comes in and cuts a promo.
- "Mega Powers"... yeah, in the WWF.
- We go to the announcers who continue to hype up the cage match.
- Steel Cage Match for the WCW World Heavyweight Title: © Randy Savage w/Elizabeth Vs Ric Flair w/Woman
- Michael Buffer calls this match a "Caged Rumble".
- Buffer is terrible at wrestling announcing...
- Quickly in the match, Flair knocks the referee down. Which of course, sets up Savage getting a few pinfall attempts.
- Flair manages to send Savage into the steel to regain control.
- Later on, Savage locks the figure four in the middle of the ring, after slamming Flair off the top rope.
- Several pinfall attempts while in the hold.
- Moments later, Savage climbs to the top of the cage. Savage leaps off but Flair manages to connect with a shot to the gut.
- Flair is back to having complete control as Savage is limp.
- Flair locks in the figure four and uses the ropes for leverage.
- Savage manages to hang on. Savage comes back by sending Flair into the cage.
- Savage scrapes Flair's head against the cage.
- Flair is busted open.
- Now my tape is messing around...
- But, in the replay it is shown that Elizabeth turns on Savage, helping Flair gain the gold.
- Your Winner: And NEW WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair via pinfall.
- We go backstage and Gene is with Hogan.
- Hogan does his usual promo on the Giant.
- Steel Cage Match: The Giant w/ Jimmy Hart & Kevin Sullivan Vs Hulk Hogan
- Giant has control quickly and often. Giant working on the neck and eye, since Hogan has an "eye injury". Hogan comes back with right hands.
- Hogan even proceeds to signal for a scoop slam after delivering right hands.
- Of course, it doesn't work. Giant continues to maul Hogan.
- Just realized you can escape the cage to win the match.
- In the World Title match, no one attempted to leave.
- So, if Hogan wins, I hope it's not by pinfall.
- Giant sends Hogan into the steel multiple times. Well, Hogan clearly blocks them but sells the moves anyway. God forbid he bleed or something, right?
- You've got to be kidding me. Giant connects with a choke slam, so what does Hogan do? No-sells, and proceeds to Hulk Up.
- When thrown into the cage wall, Giant literally goes into it, not afraid of the cage.
- Giant is dazed, Hogan with the big boot, and after playing to the crowd for several moments, Hogan connects with the scoop slam.
- Hogan connects with the leg drop, three times.
- Hogan begins to climb the cage, but Giant quickly pops up!
- Both are on the top turnbuckle and they chop each other. Giant falls off and is out cold.
- Hogan drops down, to win the match.
- Your Winner: Hulk Hogan via escaping.
- Afterwards, Hogan has a chair and he sends Sullivan into the cage.
- Hogan then realizes that it's now 2-on-1...
- The rest of the Dungeon of Doom come out and Hogan is whacking all of them with the chair.
- Hogan drops the chair, and he continues to work on all of them.
- Loch Ness comes out and the Dungeon of Doom are holding off Ness.
- Ness doesn't get in the ring.
- Hogan plays to the crowd to end the pay-per-view.
- The Good: he opening contest and the World Title matches were alright.
- The Bad: Everything else.
- The Ugly:My tape messing up near the finish of the World Title match.
