WCW Monday Nitro - Monday, February 26th, 1996
- I find it odd that The Booty Man, as he is called now, would be a spy for Hogan.
- Doesn't make sense. Would a spy attack their own team? I wouldn't think so.
- That just doesn't add up. They (WCW) didn't mention if he was brainwashed, which I will assume he was.
- But still, it is a weak way to turn him into a baby face. Not that he could be, but there needs to be a fourth solid heel behind Flair, Anderson and Giant.
- http://colling1989.proboards41.com/index.cgi recaps of WWF, ECW and others..
- Sign up and have fun reliving the past.
- Eric Bischoff welcomes everyone to Knoxville, Tennessee for WCW Nitro.
- Heenan, Bischoff and Mongo talk about the six man tag match tonight, along with hype for Uncensored on the 24th of March.
- We go to the ring!
- Bischoff spoils the results for RAW "World Winey Federation".
- Yokozuna wins by DQ in a handicap match.
- Jake Roberts defeated Isaac Yankeem.
- Diesel defeated Bob Holly.
- Bischoff knew this because RAW is taped every two weeks or so.
- Big Bubba Vs Sting
- Back and forth for a good portion of the match. Though Bubba appears to be getting the better of Sting.
- A terrible piledriver by Sting. He could have seriously hurt Bubba. He didn't fall onto his buttocks, instead he fell onto his knees like a tombstone.
- Kind of an odd finish. Sting just leaps off the turnbuckle and connects with a cross body.
- You would think Sting would at least win with his actual finisher, rather than a simple move. If you get what I mean.
- Your Winner: Sting via pinfall following a top rope cross body
- Commercials
- Gene is standing with the WCW World Tag Team Champions Sting and Lex Luger.
- That is until the Road Warriors comes down the aisle and call out Sting for not knowing how Luger truly is.
- Luger tells Animal that they will give them a title match, anywhere and anytime, any match.
- They keep on mentioning "streets of Chicago". I can imagine which type of match this will be.
- Sure enough it is. A Chicago Street Fight. Luger accepts on behalf of himself and Sting.
- Commercials
- The Renegade Vs Lex Luger
- Renegade either came out way before his music, or there was a glitch.
- The crowd couldn't care less for Renegade. He is a former Television Champion, people... show some respect.
- It's really funny that Renegade was at one point the "Ultimate Surprise" for Hogan, and "the man who is going to take Hulkamania into the 21st Century". Now, Hogan doesn't even acknowledge the fellow.
- I can't believe I just typed that much about him.
- Jimmy Hart eventually comes down and shoves Renegade off the top turnbuckle, leading to the end.
- Your Winner: Lex Luger via submission with the Torture Rack
- After the match, Sting comes down and confronts Luger about why Hart was out there.
- Sting must have finally noticed a TV in the backstage area.
- Sting really is flipping out... Maybe overdoing it.
- Commercials
- Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray) Vs Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal)
- Midway through the match, Bischoff announces this is a #1 contenders match for the tag team titles.
- Figuring what happened earlier in the show, I wonder who will win this.
- Booker actually connects pretty well with the Harlem Hangover, no referee however.
- Hawk picks up the pinfall after Animal kicks Booker in the face. Another weak finish.
- Your Winners: Road Warriors via pinfall to become #1 contenders for the World Tag Team Titles
- Commercials
- Ric Flair/Kevin Sullivan/Arn Anderson Vs Hulk Hogan/Randy Savage/Booty Man
- Hmmm... Diamond Doll aka Kimberly... comes down to ring with flowers and looks really intrigued. By whom?
- Actually, the crowd doesn't even like Booty Man. They are silent for whatever he does, which has been nothing but sleeper holds, strutting, and getting beaten up.
- Seriously, every time Booty Man gets in the match, the crowd is silent... It's quite funny.
- This is a slow match. Right hands, eye rakes and chops throughout.
- Three straight big boots by Hogan on all three heels.
- Hogan gets the pin on Anderson, and crowd barely pops.
- Your Winners: Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Booty Man via pinfall
- After the match, Miss Elizabeth manages to handcuff Hogan to the post, and Flair whips Hogan with a strap.
- That's it for this week.
- The Good: Rogers/Sting wasn't too bad, until the weak finish.
- The Bad: Booking a match before you actually make the set up happen. Meaning, before the Warriors won the #1 contenders match, they challenged the Champions to a Street Fight for the titles... Which they agreed to. Then the number one contenders match is virtually pointless, since you already have the match made, with one of the teams involved in the contenders match.
- The Ugly: Booty Man must know only three things. Eye rakes, strutting and tagging in Hogan.
