WCW Saturday Night - Saturday, April 20th, 1996
- WCW Saturday Night opening package.
- Footage of Randy Savage being handcuffed on Nitro. Alex Wright, Hard Work Bobby Walker, and Jim Duggan lead him to the back.
- Tony and Dusty hype up the fact that Savage is the first wrestler to ever be taken handcuffed from the ring.
- Tony hypes up a drawing for new tag team partners for Slamboree.
- This is a one hour edition of Saturday Night. I would guess that is because of the NBA Playoffs.
- American Males (Scotty Riggs/Marcus Bagwell) Vs Men At Work (Chris Kanyon/Mike Winter)
- Winter replaces Mark Starr. Hopefully that doesn't replace their push.
- Chris Kanyon seems to be a pretty decent worker over the past few months.
- Winter and Kanyon cannot get anything going early on, both being sent over the top to the floor.
- Kanyon is on the floor during the majority of the match, looking under the ring, and wrenching the middle turnbuckle pad.
- Kanyon over shot a moonsault, which was clearly supposed to connect, as Bagwell was not attempting to move.
- Riggs gets the tag, and pins Kanyon seconds later.
- Your Winners: American Males via pinfall.
- Mike Winter gets a big thumbs down from me.
- Gene is backstage with Randy Savage.
- Savage says that Flair is getting under his skin. Gene manages to mention his darn Hotline.
- Savage seemingly whispers throughout, so I can barely understand what he says.
- I'm pretty sure he wants Flair.
- Commercials
- How about some more Gene? You got it.
- Gene picks some new tag teams from the WCW Slamboree Lethal Lottery.
- Scott Steiner and Sgt. Craig Pittman will team up to face, BM and Rick Steiner.
- So, the Steiners are on opposite teams, with their partners being worthless.
- Speaking of worthless...
- BM w/Booty Babe Vs Punisher
- Two running knees to the head, and a running high knee lift, and it's over.
- Your Winner: BM via pinfall
- Tony interviews BM. BM says he knew Hogan would get the job done.
- BM says his neck is too strong to be broken by Flair.
- BM says he will be the last man standing at Slamboree and become the WCW World Champion.
- YEAH RIGHT.
- Commercials
- Gene plugs the Hotline.
- Saturday Night has an awful lot of Gene. I have just realized this.
- Madusa Vs Colonel Robert Parker
- This is a no-disqualification match. Odds of any weapons being used? I bet a simple low blow, or Slater hits Parker by accident.
- Slater holds Madusa in the corner to allow Parker get the advantage.
- Madusa reverses a piledriver into a back drop, and connects with a scoop slam.
- Parker runs out of the ring, and gets counted out.
- Wow, that was pointless again.
- I wonder if Madusa second-thinks about her decision to head to WCW instead of staying with the WWF.
- Your Winner: Madusa via count out
- Commercials
- Tony tells us that all the titles will be on the line this Monday Night.
- Highlight video from WCW Nitro.
- Fire & Ice (Scott Norton/Ice Train) Vs Maxx Muscle/The Gambler
- So, Norton is baby face now? I thought he could have been a powerful heel.
- Gambler doesn't have any luck against Ice. So, he tags in Maxx to get destroyed by Fire.
- Fire with a power bomb, Ice, who didn't get a tag in, with a jumping splash for the win.
- Your Winners: Fire & Ice via pinfall
- Footage of the Steiner Brothers beating up Cactus Jack, or Mankind in the WWF.
- Commercials
- Steiner Brothers Vs Public Enemy
- Gorilla press slam early on by Scott on Rocco. Belly-to-belly suplex by Scott on Grunge.
- Steiners are in complete control. Rock with a scoop slam and diving head butt onto Rick.
- Rick with a dangerous looking superplex from the middle rope on Rock.
- Brian Knobbs runs down to the ring with a chair, which Nick Patrick sees and throws the match out.
- Your Winners: I would assume Public Enemy by DQ, or a No Contest.
- Commercials
- Gene hypes up WCW Slamboree on May 19th.
- 32 men, 16 tag teams, random tag teams, winners compete in a battle royal, where the winner gets a World Title shot.
- Hawkl/Luger face Animal/Booker T.
- Public Enemy face Benoit/Sullivan.
- That's all that has been announced.
- For the WCW World Heavyweight Title: Jim Duggan Vs (champion) Ric Flair
- How in the world has Duggan gotten a World Title match?
- Talk about losing value for a title.
- Elizabeth and Women throw Randy Savage's "money" to the crowd.
- The typical start with Duggan over powering Flair by throwing him down and knuckle lock.
- Duggan no-sells a chop, several right and left hands by Duggan.
- Flair Flop, Duggan runs right into a boot, Duggan with a running clothesline.
- Duggan power slams Flair off the top rope to the mat.
- Three point stance. Duggan wins, Duggan wins...
- By disqualification. Women pulled Duggan's hair to cause the DQ while the pin was going on.
- Randy Savage has run down, and goes after Flair, only for Public Enemy and Kevin Sullivan to hold him back.
- Your Winner: Jim Duggan by DQ... Ric Flair retains the WCW World Heavyweight Title..
- The Good: Continuing Savage/Flair.
- The Bad: Winters replacing Starr in the tag team Men At Work.. Starr is so much better
- The Ugly: BM on my TV, still.
