WCW Saturday Night - Monday, May 20th, 1996
- Last night was perhaps the worst WCW PPV I have ever witnessed.
- To have the Battle Bowl final consist of low to mid card wrestlers is something I don't understand. Considering the fact that there were several main event wrestlers involved in the tournament.
- Savage, Flair, Luger, Anderson, Guerrero, Harlem Heat, Benoit, Sullivan, Road Warriors and Scott Steiner didn't have really any type of effect on the show.
- Though Savage/Flair and Benoit/Sullivan continued their programs nicely.
- So, Diamond Dallas Page wins. Pretty sure no one cared. Now he gets a title shot against the Giant at the Great American Bash.
- That's a match A LOT of people want to not see.
- Honestly, who would buy a PPV knowing the main event is going to be a squash lasting no more than five minutes?
- I wouldn't.
- Enough of me complaining, onto this ninety minute edition of WCW Nitro!
- WCW Nitro Opening Video
- Eric Bischoff, Steve McMichael and Bobby Heenan are on commentary. Actually, Mongo isn't on commentary. He is "training" for his Great American Bash match. More on that later.

- Your Winner: And Still WCW World Heavyweight Champion, The Giant via pinfall.
- Eric and Bobby hype up what they just saw.
- That's it.
- The Good: Sting/Luger drama is over with. The opening tag team match was good. Faces of Fear also looked good in the ring.
- The Bad: What was the point of the tournament if you're going to have Page not get his title shot? Besides it looks even more ridiculous that Luger, who wasn't even in the finals, let alone got past the first round, gets a title shot. Obviously, it's all about buy rates.
- The Ugly: WCW's booking for the month of May.
