WCW Worldwide - Saturday/Sunday, 8/31/96 - 09/01/96

[Editor's Note: DDT Digest reader Cody M. found an old Worldwide tape from August of 1996 and wrote up a report on it. I posted it in chronological order with Bob's 1996 recaps.]

• The Gambler vs. The Renegade
  • Gambler with a headlock.
  • Renegade throws Gambler into the ropes and hits a big power slam.
  • Renegade/Gambler exchange a series of rights and lefts.
  • Renegade with a running bulldog for the win.
  • Your Winner: The Renegade via pinfall

• Tony Schiavone and Bobby "The Brian" Heenen say that today's main event is going be Chris Benoit vs. Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman. They then go over Fall Brawl for a bit.
• WCW World Wide Brought To You By: Slim Jim

• VK Wallstreet vs. Johnny Boone
  • Wallstreet starts off the match by ramming the head of Boone into the turnbuckle.
  • Boone hits a quick crossbody on Wallstreet, but Boone quickly finds himself on the ground after it.
  • Butterfly Suplex by VK Wallstreet.
  • The crowd starts chanting "Wal-Mart" towards VK Wallstreet, which distracts Wallstreet from the match, and allows Boone to get a quick roll up on VK, but only a one count.
  • Stock Market Drop by Wallstreet for the win.
  • Your Winner: VK Wallstreet via pinfall

• Fall Brawl Control Center with Mean Gene.
• Gene goes over the Fall Brawl card, and says that the four member of team nWo will more than likely be determined at Fall Brawl September 15^th, and goes over more matches on card.

• Glacier WCW promo aired.

• "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. Storm
  • Storm starts out with a chop to Duggan, but it has no effect on Duggan.
  • Duggan slams down Storm.
  • Duggan with a clothesline and right hand that knocks Storm down.
  • Every time Tony ask or tells a fact about Duggan to Heenan, Bobby just laughs... which he does throughout the rest of the match... gotta love the Brain!
  • Duggan with a camel clutch.
  • A horrible looking elbow drop by Storm, but it really has no effect on Duggan again.
  • Power slam by Duggan.
  • 3-point Stance and tackle by Duggan for the victory.
  • Your Winner: "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan via pinfall

• Scott "Flash" Norton vs. Buddy Valentine
  • Buddy tries to chop Norton, but it does nothing to Norton.
  • Norton manhandles Valentine.
  • Norton slams Valentine down hard on the mat.
  • Big clothesline by Norton, and it's over. Norton gets a very quick victory.
  • Your Winner: Scott "Flash" Norton

• Fall Brawl Control Center with Mean Gene
• Pretty much the same as the previous one, but he goes over some different matches, and continues talking about the War Games match.

• Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman w/ Teddy Long vs. Chris Benoit
  • Lock up and a go-behind by Benoit.
  • Pittman and Benoit once again lock up, but Pittman with the go -behind this time.
  • Pittman puts Benoit in a hammer lock, but Benoit elbows his way out of the hold.
  • Pittman then takes Benoit down, and works his arm.
  • Benoit with the single-leg takedown.
  • Benoit pulls back on Pittman's arms.
  • Benoit with a series of chops and punches into the corner.
  • The favor is returned by Pittman.
  • Benoit with an atomic drop.
  • Snapmare take over by Benoit.
  • Suplex into a bridge by Benoit, but he only gets a two-count.
  • Benoit locks in a reverse chinlock to Pittman.
  • Pittman with an overhead belly-to-belly back suplex, and goes for the cover, but only gets a two-count out of it.
  • Benoit and Pittman once again exchange blows.
  • Pittman with a crossbody block.
  • Benoit and Pittman fight in the corner, and Benoit rolls Pittman up and puts his feet on the ropes for the three count. The odd thing is Bobby and Tony don't even say anything about Benoit cheating.
  • Your Winner: Chris Benoit via pinfall

• Tony and Bobby talk about Fall Brawl for awhile as they close out Worldwide, and they remind everyone to join them next week for more Worldwide.
