WCW Saturday Night - Saturday, 09/13/97
- U.S. Champion Steve "Mongo" McMichael defeated Greg "The Hammer" Valentine via DQ in a title match when the nWo War Games team did a run-in.
- A loud and clear "Bears suck!" chant from the crowd. No comment by the announcers as the Horsemen are being putting over as faces for War Games.
- Greg "The Hammer" Valentine was referred to as the former U.S. Champion. Technically true, but it's not apparent given his bookings and skills of late.
- Mongo had just nailed Valentine with the tombstone piledriver when the nWo ran in.
- The other Horsemen did a run-in after the match to chase off the nWo.
- Eddie Guerrero pinned Jobber Guerrero, Jr. following a frog splash.
- "Eddie sucks!" from the crowd. No surprise, there.
- Disco Inferno pinned Lenny Lane following a piledriver.
- Lenny Lane was allowed to work some in this match before the end. The kid's got potential.
- Whatever happened to Disco Inferno's Last Dance? Now that Yuji Nagata is using it (reverse figure-four), I guess Disco Inferno lost rights to the move.
- They just had a commercial for the official WCW web site. They said "it's the only wrestling web site that matters". That certainly hurts my feelings.
- Dusty mentions the passing of Fritz Von Erich. According to Dusty, Fritz started Dusty's career.
- Ultimo Dragon made Super Calo submit to the Dragon Sleeper.
- Instead of Ultimo Dragon's music after the match, "Das Blunderpinned" Alex Wright's music came on and Alex came out and danced. Ultimo Dragon tried to coax Wright into the ring but Wright wimped out.
- Oh, joy. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan returns to action on Nitro. :-(
- Okerlund interviewed Roddy Piper. Piper said the same exact things and made the same jokes as he did on Nitro.
- "Magnum" Scott Hall defeated "The Total Package" Lex Luger via DQ when "Diamond" Dallas Page interfered on Luger's behalf.
- Hall had the match well in hand when Page interfered due to a low blow on Luger.
