WCW Worldwide - Saturday 12/6/97
- Hey, before I get to this week's action, I've got a
little Starrcade match updates for you (I'll be getting
the show :-)
- It looks like Harlem Heat vs Faces of Fear at
Starrcade....With the push Meng is getting, it
looks bad for the seven-time champs...
- I've also heard Flair vs Hennig 3, in a
cage...but if Flair is really as hurt (broken
foot or ankle) as it's been said, I don't see how
the match can happpen.
- Of course, I don't see how a person as
old as Flair can wrestle and do
interviews as well as he does, but he
does, so what do I know?
- Finally...a total guess at a match for Starrcade,
but would make a lot of sense : Chris Benoit vs
Raven
- You know, either Bret Hart isn't in tune with the rest of
WCW or he just wants to cause trouble, cause according to
his column this week, he's not sure he'll be in WCW or
nWo...it depends on who has the title after a
Starrcade...he's looking for a title shot at Souled Out
2...
- School will be out Friday for me...so I'm planning on
doing a little something special for next week, you'll
have to wait till then to find out...
- Let's start the show...
- Hugh "The Forgotten Laughing Man" Morrus over
Hardbody Harris by No Laughing Matter
- Is it just me, but since the split with Konnan
and the whole DOD falling apart, it seems like
Hugh Morrus is turning into Brad Armstrong...
- I'd like to see someone call a Hardwork vs
Hardbody match, just by using the nicknames, and
see how long they'd last :) ... I wonder who'd
win? (Well, at least before Walker's mini push
he's getting)
- Starrcade Promo - Zbyszko vs Bischoff for Nitro
- Hector Garza over Hector Guerrero by reverse standing
moonsault
- Handshake before the match and clean breaks
early, so I guess both are faces...for now
- A fast moving match, although it seemed a little
too choreographed
- Garza looks bigger...Nice double underhook suplex
by Guerrero...
- A quick match ends with a missle dropkick
followed by the reverse standing moonsault
- And Garza didn't do the plancha....
- Yuji Nagata w/Sonny Onoo and Fuji Camera over Keith
Shearer by standing figure four lock
- Ok...when someone holds up a sign that says
"WCW...we love you", you hope it's
planted
- Keith gets hit by a spinning kick and rolls from
halfway in the ring to all the way out (pretty
much on his own) and Sonny Onoo gets a few good
kicks in
- Nagata's working on the leg a lot...which sets up
the end quite nice..and Sonny Onoo distracts the
ref (by offering him a bribe) after the match to
let Nagata keep the hold on...and is seen handing
Nagata a bunch of bills after he gets up
- Nitro Highlights - Bischoff and Zybszko...Disco getting
beat the heck out of (got to read those contracts a
little better next time, Disco)...Elizabeth pinning
him...the nWo punking Ray Traylor...
- Starrcade Preview - Sting vs Hogan (You think they have
enough footage for this feud? They show the recent stuff)
- High Voltage over Southern Posse by Volt Meter (Rage
holds him and Kaos crossbody blocks him)
- High Voltage has some slightly new outfits...I
like the old ones better (they had their names on
it, so I could remember who was which)...the
Southern Posse is still the Southern Posse (and I
don't know their names)
- Kaos is just destroying both members of the
Southern Posse...he threw one out to Rage, who
thrown the SP into the guardrail and helped him
back in...
- The longhaird SP has the shortest House of Fire
segment ever and about five seconds into it, Rage
just knocked him down
- Greg "The Hammer" Valentine over Dave Heath by Elbowdrop
- I feel sorry for Greg for still having to wrestle
at his age...I feel sorry for me because
Valentine's tights are too small...and, as usual,
the focus is on Sting vs Hogan for the guys in
the booth
- Heath has the weakest fists to the back of Greg
Valentine...we see Heath having Valentine in a
submission hold, go to the crowd for some reason
and Valentine's up and punching Heath
- Valentine's attempt at a double underhook suplex is
much worse looking and it takes him two tries to
get Heath over.
- The Elbowdrop still looks good
- Faces of Fear w/Jimmy Hart over Villano IV and V by Tongan
Death Grip
- Once this match was announced, I knew the
outcome, but who would be taken out by Meng?
- The Faces get cheers? Don't tell me Harlem Heat
will be the heels if those two teams meet up at
Starrcade like I've been hearing...
- The typical Faces of Fear match...lots of no
selling and beating the heck out of the opponent
- Hey, both Villanos started beating up Barbarian
in the corner...it's some international
clubbering!
- The Villano's appear to have watched High
Voltage, because they set up for the same thing
on Barbarian...Meng attacks the Villano (V?)
holding up Barbarian and they both chuck him to
the Villano to the outside...Meanwhile, IV is
still on the top rope, waiting around for someone
to jump...Meng turns aroung and the Villano
jumps right into the TDG
