WCW Saturday Night - 01/24/98
- We are a few hours away from Souled out as the show opens...
- Let me start out by saying I hope Kevin Nash jobs at Souled Out because
he skipped Starrcade, people out in Internet land say he had a heart attack
and a whole buncha other stuff, but I think that he faked it and skipped.
- There should be a match at Souled Out for the Heavyweight Championship,
but there isn't
- I have two different wrestling features out on the web (shameless promotion)
- "Hell Hath No Fury, Like Sunday Bingo" - Easy E's Granny
- "I'm E-Z-E I got b****s gamore, you may have a lotta b****s but
I got much more" - the real Easy E
- I was recently watching the WWF and as I sat watching I noticed a few
things
- All the wrestlers looked exactly like people that hung out in a local
biker bar
- I had no clue as to who most of these wrestlers are
- The commentary really really was terrible in comparison to Tenay/Heenan/Tony
S. even if Tony S. doesn't pay attention to matches and constantly messes
up the facts
- Vince McMahon's hair is JUST TOO AWFUL
- then later on during that Stone Cold/Tyson segment
- Austin looked totally immature imitating Bret Hart, then looked even
more immature flipping Vince McMahon off.
- I hope somebody from the FCC watches Raw sometime soon.
- The whole angle is dumb. We all know in real life that Steve Austin
is really a nice guy. We also know that in real life that Mike Tyson is
a convicted felon, ex-con, and a real fighter. In a real fight Iron Mike
Tyson would kill Nice Guy Steve Austin
- On to the show........
- Goldberg d. Mike Tolbert via Jackhammer
- Tolbert came out to Chris Jericho's old music
- Mike gets in a few punches
- Goldberg with Tackle and Jackhammer for the win in a very short match
- Raven vs Chris Benoit - no decision
- Steve Mongo McMicheal was originally scheduled but Raven said he plays
by his own rules so Steve said on the mic he plays by his own rules, too,
and he has a guy backstage that wants to pluck his feathers. Beniot comes
out and they fight then the flock comes out then McMicheal comes back
out.... Raven and Saturn drag Chris backstage while McMicheal punks the
entire flock sans Raven and Saturn in the ring
- BIG Raven sucks chant
- Mean Gene w/Jim Neidhart
- Neidhart says Flair lost a step, Bret Hart's the best and everything
you've already heard. He says Bret will win at Souled Out
- I agree
- Jim Neidhart d. Wayne Bloom via Shoulder block from over the top rope
from the outside
- fair match, a little back and forth, not too notable
- Mean Gene w/ Rey Mystero Jr.
- Mean Gene "have you seen the changes in Chris Jericho" Gene
you geek, this is Rey Mystero not Ray Charles
- Rey's English is great
- Commerical - Eric on Souled Out - "more souls to buy" is
somebody going nWo
- Mean Gene's Hotline on Hogan 1-900-909-9900 I'd rather dial 1-800-388-BABE
- Hardwork Bobby Walker w/Teddy Long d. Chad Fortune via Quittin' Time
- Teddy does the raise the roof a la Booker T
- Good back and forth match mostly mat work
- Hardwork with the Quitiin' Time
- I think Bobby Walker is underrated
- This Week in WCW Motorsports........
- Crusierweight Champion Rey Mystero Jr. d Juventud Guerrera via Huracanrana
- Handshake to start
- Dusty "I haven't seen a one legged man do any bootiekicking"
- Juvi with a big missile drop kick off the springboard
- A lot slower than usual
- Hurracanrana in the middle of the ring
- Chris Jericho comes in on the mic and says a buncha crap
- "Jeri-mania"
- "Rey you've been losing your temper over the past few weeks"
- Handshake and Rey falls for it. Big punch then The Liontamer
- Juvi comes in and missle drop kicks Jericho in the head from the top
- Rey and Juvi rip Jericho up
- Mean Gene w/Rick Martel
- Martel's a face's face
- Respectful to Booker T Mean Gene points out that Booker T is basically
a tag team wrestler - thanks, Mean Gene, I really wasn't sure about that
know we all know
- Replay of Martel / Flock incident .... another reporter said it was
Kidman and Sickboy. nope, Kidman distracted by calling Martel a stooge
then SATURN attacked throwing Martel threw the glass door..... Sick Boy
wasn't anywhere around
- Martel d. Johnny Attitude via BOSTON Crab
- Attitude starts off great and throws Martel out then nails Martel with
a bad baseball slide
- Dusty and Schiavone spend the first half of the match referring to Johnny Attitude as Johnny Swinger. Seeing as the voiceover is taped later, you'd think they'd have enough courtesy to redo the voiceover.
- Martel takes over and hits a spinebuster and turn it into a BOSTON
crab
- I'm thinking this ok.... Rick Martel - Face, Bret Hart - Face, Jim
Neidhart - Face, And comming soon Davey Boy Smith - Face...... I think
I see a new team comming up soon
- Commercial - WCW Power Plant
- Eddie Guerrero d. Johnny Swinger via Frogsplah and pin
- Johnny in the ring and out comes Disco Inferno in street clothes
- Tells Johnny on the mic nobody came here to see Johnny wrestle they
came to see Disco dance and both the crowd and Dusty agree
- Disco then nails Johnny with the chartbuster
- Eddie out and nails Swinger with the frogsplash and the pin
- Mean Gene w/ The Cat and Glacier
- The Cat looked like he could care less as Glacier praddled on about
how they patched up there differences
- Glacier went to high five The Cat and had to leave his hand up there
for 5-10 seconds before The Cat just tapped it
- Does anyone else see what's gonna happen?
- Mean Gene on the hotline says news about Hogan......
- Barry Darsow d. Barry Horowitz via Barely Legal submission hold
- Back and forth match nothing really notable
- Dusty "I never was a golfer" Tony" I know"
- Darsow's submission hold in no way shape or form hurts. Darsow left
the hold on and the ref was calling for the bell, looks like nobody cares
about Horowitz to come down and help him
- Commerical for Souled Out about Larry Z./Scott Hall I have a theory
about who is coming out with Larry even though I'm not going to be even
close to being right, I think it's gonna be Syxx
- Mortis/Wrath d. The Cat/Glacier via Powerbomb-neckbreaker combo on
the Cat
- Vandy hits Glacier on way to Ring while The Cat's busy in the ring
- The Cat and Mortis start w/ a big "Glacier sucks" chant from the crowd
- Mortis with a sweet move like Jannetty's showstopper except the leg
was under the head instead of above
- Miller is getting punked by both Wrath and Mortis......Quick tags and
all kinds of powermoves
- Among the moves The Cat is getting hit with are.... a backbreaker,
Powerslam, A reverse Boston Crab from Wrath while Mortis hits a guillotine
leg drop
- The Cat gives Mortis a powerbomb
- Glacier tagged in
- Glacier kicks Miller beats up Miller then hits The Cat with a Cryonic
Kick
- Mortis/Wrath give The Cat a combo Powerbomb (from Wrath) and Neckbreaker
(from Mortis)
- Dust and Tony praddle about "annoucment" at Souled Out
- I say just have a battle royal.... anyone that want in, gets in winner
is champ and faces Hall at Superbrawl VIII
- Rick Steinier w/ Ted D. d. Scott Norton w/ Vincent via DQ
- does the phrase Sunday Picnic drunken fight mean anything
- crowd does the "woof woof woof woof woof"
- Scott came out w/ Rick but went back
- Norton hits a DDT the most technical move in the match
- Rick takes over with Stenier lines
- Buff Out , Rey Traylor out, Vincent is getting knocked out by Ted D.,
Konnan Out, Scott Stenier out, nWo runs off
- Scott doesn't acknowledge anyone but the camera
- Credits roll
- I think there's gonna be a suprise at Souled Out.
- I pick The Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXII
- If you like my report tell Bill and ask him to have me on......email
him
