- I apologize if this report isn't extremely interesting . . . I went down to visit my family this weekend, and came back with the flu. So, hopefully I'll be able to crank out a coherent report through the fog of "Tylenol Cold and Sinus."
- But, enough of that, let's go to the Muthaship, with your cruise directors, Scott Hudson and Mike Tenay.
- Match 1: Bill Goldberg pinned Jerry Flynn with the Jackhammer
- Flynn's got a nice heel persona, but that whole Karate Kid thing's gotta go.
- Hmmm, Bill Goldberg's coming out. I wonder how many seconds this match is going to last.
- Goldberg starts off with kicks, knees, and punches.
- They refer to Flynn as "Lightning Foot" Jerry Flynn. Haven't heard that one before.
- Goldberg acts like he's gonna hit the tackle, but Flynn slides out of the ring.
- They're rolling around punching each other.
- Flynn tries a headscissors, but Goldberg picks him up and slams him.
- Oh yeah, when Goldberg came out, the graphic said "Goldberg" instead of "Bill Goldberg."
- Flynn with some kicks, but Goldberg hits his Gorilla-Press Powerslam.
- Goldberg hits the diving spear, and hits the Jackhammer for the win.
- Post-match, Goldberg graces us with some grunts.
- Coming up tonight: DDP vs. Sick Boy, The Steiners vs. Regal and Taylor, and Ric Flair against Curt Hennig. Some pretty good matches.
- Match 2: Greg Valentine pinned Pat Tanaka after the Hammer elbowsmash
- Taking it back to the old school with Greg Valentine. Valentine gives the "double hammer" sign this week.
- Pat Tanaka looks familiar. Where have I seen him before? Was he in some AWA tag team with Paul Diamond back in the day?
- Tanaka starts off working Valentine over in the corner.
- Valentine reverses a whip into the corner, and sends Tanaka to the mat.
- Chops in the corner by Valentine, followed by a hiptoss.
- Big clothesline by Valentine.
- The Hammer with a butterfly suplex.
- Modified powerslam by Valentine, who then drops the Hammer for the win.
- Mean Gene's in the "locker room" with Chris Jericho
- Jericho's grinning like a fool.
- Jericho says that he'll have no problem beating and unmasking Juventud.
- Jericho says that he doesn't know whether he wants to unmask Juvi, since Juventud's so ugly.
- Jericho says he can't handle the responsibility of unmasking Guererra.
- Promo for Luger/Savage.
- Match 3: Juventud Guererra pinned Lenny Lane with the 450 Splash
- Lenny Lane comes out, playing the heel. I haven't seen that before.
- Juventud comes out, spraying it, not saying it.
- Lane starts off strong with a big clothesline.
- Big headscissors by Juvy.
- Someone in the crowd has an Austin 3:16 shirt.
- Nice springboard dropkick by Juvy.
- Baseball slide dropkick by Juvy.
- Juvy goes for a backdrop, but Lane hits a kneelift.
- Lane gets out of a Victory Roll, and hits a clothesline for two.
- Lane with a powerslam for two.
- Big legdrop by Lane for two.
- Lane kicking Guererra, and choking him against the ropes.
- Lane misses a dropkick into the corner.
- Hudson: "Lane went Bischoff-first into the corner"
- Modified Hotshot by Lane.
- Inverted Russian Legsweep by Lane for two. He's been impressive thus far.
- Lane misses a twisting moonault off the top.
- Juvy hits a tombstone piledriver, followed by the 450 Splash for the win.
- Post-match, Jericho runs in and starts kicking Guererra.
- A series of atomic drops by Jericho.
- Jericho puts Juvy on the top turnbuckle, and starts unmasking Juvy.
- Juventud knocks Jericho off the top, and hits a flying headscissors to send Jericho fleeing for shelter.
- Lane was pretty impressive this week.
- Promo for Sting/Hogan.
- Mean Gene plugs his hotline.
- Match 4: Saturn (w/Lodi) made Chavo Guererro Jr. submit to the Rings of Saturn.
- Lodi sign: "Saturn the Gargoyle"
- Saturn again asks us what we're looking at. Way too many piercings, buddy, that's what.
- Footage of JJ Dillon granting Saturn a TV Title shot at SuperBrawl.
- Chavo Guererro Jr. comes out. He's certainly getting a lot better.
- Tenay says something that makes sense: He says that Saturn and Booker T should wrestle first, and the winner should face Martel.
- Saturn manhandling the smaller wrestler.
- Big clothesline by Saturn.
- Modified springboard bulldog by Chavo.
- Saturn with a waistlock into a suplex.
- Saturn does the world-famous Garvin Stomp. That move sucked when Ron Garvin did it, and hasn't gotten any better.
- Tenay says that Saturn is "The Enforcer" of the Flock.
- Saturn hits a Gourdbuster, speaking of Double-A.
- Saturn eats a foot,
- Chavo goes for the Tornado DDT, but Saturn throws him off.
- Chavo comes of the top with a back cross-bodyblock for two.
- Chavo tries for Tim Horner's old Natural Bridge, but only gets two.
- Chavo goes for a slam, but Saturn rolls him over into the Rings of Saturn for the submission win.
- Tenay and Hudson talk about Bret Hart and Ric Flair getting friendly, along with footage of Bryan Adams making his debut.
- Match 5: Jim Powers pinned Horeshu with a powerslam
- Every hairdresser's nightmare, Horeshu, comes out. First time I've seen him in action.
- Wow, another jobber comes out. Can't pick this one.
- Powers is sans Teddy Long, so he may win.
- Powers starts off strong.
- Big slam by Powers, followed by a clothesline.
- Horeshu sends Powers into the corner, and follows it up with a butterfly suplex.
- Horeshu chokes Powers against the ropes.
- Powers hulks out of a chinlock, but gets hit with an elbowsmash.
- Powers does the same thing again, but gets slammed.
- Horeshu misses a second-rope elbowdrop, and Powers comes back.
- Powers with a punch to the gut, followed by a kneelift.
- Powers whips Horeshu into the ropes and catches him in a powerslam for the win.
- Mean Gene's in the back with DDP.
- DDP with praise for Benoit
- DDP says that he wants to test himself against Benoit.
- DDP needs some "Sucrets."
- DDP says that Sick Boy is one of the greatest young talents he's seen. He's got a point.
- Guess what DDP says that Sick Boy will feel?
- Promo for Benoit/Page.
- Match 6: Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko beat Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom when Benoit made Bloom submit to the Crippler Crossface
- The former Destruction Crew/Beverly Brothers/Minnesota Wrecking Crew II comes out.
- Yes! Malenko and Benoit!!!
- This is gonna rule.
- Enos runs through Malenko with a shoulderblock.
- Enos runs Malenko into the corner.
- Enos with a big overhead belly-to-belly suplex.
- Big dropkick by Malenko to Bloom, and tags in Benoit.
- Benoit gives a beatdown to Bloom in the corner.
- Benoit goes into the ropes, and Enos gives him a knee to the back.
- Enos and Bloom work over Benoit in their corner.
- Butterfly suplex by Bloom for a two-count.
- Bloom off the top with a double axehandle.
- Enos with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Benoit.
- Enos uses Scott Hall's release slam, followed by a reverse neckbreaker.
- Enos and Bloom have had the big advantage thus far.
- Benoit hits a snap suplex on Bloom, but Enos comes in.
- Bloom goes for a suplex on Benoit, but Benoit reverses it into the Crippler Crossface for the submission win.
- The Flock (Lodi, Kidman, and Sick Boy) run in post-match, but Malenko and Benoit run them off.
- Mean Gene talks to Booker T
- Gene rambles.
- Booker says that he wants his title back. Can you dig it?
- Booker says that he's ready to go all night long against Martel and Saturn.
- Match 7: Glacier pinned Chris Adams after the Cryonic Kick
- Tenay says that Giant is planning on showing up at SuperBrawl.
- A battle of Superkicks tonight.
- Turning heel hasn't shortened Glacier's entrance, unfortunately.
- Hudson: "As Glacier warms up in the ring..." Hope he doesn't melt. On second thought....
- Adams comes out with his shiny shirt.
- Adams chases Glacier out of the ring.
- Glacier misses a kick, and gets hit with a belly-to-belly suplex.
- Adams punches Glacier in the head, causing Glacier to beg off.
- Adams with a leglock, but Glacier gets to the ropes.
- Adams turns a Glacier kick into a dragon-screw legwhip.
- Adams uses another leglock, and Glacier again gets to the ropes.
- Glacier with a thumb to the eye.
- Glacier with kicks and punches in the corner.
- Glacier does some martial arts poses in the middle of the ring.
- Adams ducks a Glacier cross-body block.
- Adams takes Glacier down with a clothesline, followed into a bridging belly-to-back suplex.
- Adams hits a powerslam for two.
- Adams with a backdrop, and sets up for the Superkick.
- Adams goes for the Superkick, but Glacier pulls the referee in front of him. Adams stops, throws the referee out of the ring, and Glacier hits the Cryonic Kick for the win.
- Match 8: WCW U.S. Heavyweight Champion Diamond Dallas Page pinned Sick Boy after the Diamond Cutter
- Sick Boy comes out to feel the "bang."
- Page is wearing his usual kidney wraps.
- Page rolls up Sick Boy, who is arguing with the referee.
- Page uses his armtwist-shoulderblocks move.
- Page hits a belly-to-belly suplex.
- Not much offense by Sick Boy thus far.
- Sick Boy with a jawbreaker.
- Sick Boy starts kicking Page in the ribs.
- Page comes back and starts pounding on Sick Boy in the corner.
- Page charges into the corner, but Sick Boy gets a foot up. Sick Boy follows up with a big clothesline.
- Sick Boy hits a springboard back-elbow.
- Page with a belly-to-back suplex, and hits a tornado clothesline.
- Page signals for the Diamond Cutter, but Sick Boy pokes him in the eyes.
- Page puts Sick Boy in a full nelson, spins him around, and hits the Diamond Cutter for the win.
- Sick Boy didn't look as impressive this time as he has in previous weeks. That guy's got skills.
- Match 9: WCW World Tag Team Champions Rick & Scott Steiner (w/Ted DiBiase) defeated Steve Regal and Dave Taylor when Rick pinned Regal after the Steiner Bulldog
- Regal and Taylor come out, fanning the smoke away from them.
- Regal's one of my favorites. He plays the snooty heel to the T.
- The Steiners come out, barking.
- They mention that Charlottesville is getting a big Arena event on March 27. Guess the switched that one and the Thunder in Fairfax. Lucky me!
- They're making a REAL big deal over the Steiners being back together again. Hmmm.....
- Scott starts off against Taylor, and hits a big armdrag.
- Scott hiptosses Taylor halfway across the ring.
- Taylor takes Scott off his feet with an European uppercut. Do Europeans use American uppercuts?
- Scott with a butterfly suplex, and the Steiners whip Regal and Taylor into each other.
- Rick gets between Scott's legs and barks.
- It's now Rick and Regal.
- Regal with European uppercuts.
- Rick atomic drops Regal into a Scott forearm.
- Regal whips Scott into a Taylor knee, and drops him with an European uppercut.
- Scott gets choked against the ropes.
- Regal spazzes out, and pushes his bicep up.
- Regal with a crossface-armbar on Scott.
- Scott whips Regal into the turnbuckle, Regal stops, is proud of himself, and gets caught with a belly-to-belly when he turns around.
- Rick tags in and starts clearing house.
- The Steiners hiptoss Taylor into Regal.
- Scott picks Regal up, and Rick hits the Steiner Bulldog for the win.
- Match 10: Ric Flair beat Curt Hennig by disqualification when Vincent interfered
- Hennig comes out alone.
- Commercial.
- Flair struts down to the ring.
- Flair "whoos" to the crowd, and struts for Hennig.
- Flair takes Hennig down with a headlock, and punches him in the head.
- Hennig charges Flair in the corner, but gets met with a back elbow.
- Flair goes up top, and comes down the hard way.
- Hennig locks the figure four on Flair.
- Flair makes it to the ropes, and the referee breaks the hold.
- Hennig pulls Flair out of the corner by the leg.
- Hennig executes a hamstring stretch.
- Flair pokes Hennig in the eye, and chops him in the corner.
- Flair with punches in the corner.
- Flair kicks Hennig's legs out from under him.
- Flair with a kneebreaker, and then locks on the Figure Four.
- Vincent runs into the ring.
- Flair knocks him down, and locks the Figure Four on Vince as the show ends.
