WCW Worldwide - Saturday 3/7/98
By TheCubs Fan
- Hey, I'm back. Don't all cheer at once. I'd like to congratulate J.D. Server on his most excellent job with Worldwide last week, but hey, he probably did it for me already :)
- Which reminds me...J.D. wondered when was the last time a run in happened on Worldwide...Being the person I am, I remember it clearly...Akira Hokuto was facing another woman wrestler (I forget who it was, but I know it was the one that had GAEA on her outfit...someone will fill me in by next week.) Any way, post-match, Akira and Sonny are really going after the other wrestler and Madusa came out, in her wrestling top and jeans, to make the save.
- Now that I'm writing that, I think it might have been a tag match between the women, but I know those people were involved...oh well
- First thing is a thing I've forgetton for like tons of weeks...The Cubs Fan declines on the Bruise Cruise tixs...boats and me don't go together...I don't get seasick, but I get close enough...
- I feel like a jerk over something, so let me take care of another situation...someone mailed me about the difference between a Stunner and a Cutter and I, being me, forget to answer it before I took off...so I'm gonna do it now ('cause I lost the address)
- Diamond Cutter vs Stone Cold Stunner (aka Chartbuster or Disciple's Dead-End or whatever he'll call it)
- The main difference is where the wrestler ends up after delivering the move. Austin (and his copycats, eh double G?) will land on their butt, while Page (and perhaps Johnny Ace, like I know) will land on his back
- DDP has also said some stuff about moving his hands up his opponents neck while they're both falling to the ground, while Austin just falls down...
- As far as how it would hurt someone, they both target different areas.
- The Stunner, when it was first used in the WWF, was hyped as a move that hurt the throat and voice box area. I still remember seeing a clip of Savio "Chevy" Vega taking the first one and clucthing his neck before he fell to the ground. Now, it's more presented as a move that will injury someone's neck, assumingly from the whiplash effect. (The person's head snaps back after the move is delivered.)
- The Cutter is totally different. If it was effected perfectly, the first thing to hit the ground would be DDP's opponent's chin. You can almost think of it being like a superkick, but instead of the chin being hit by something going at a fast speed, the chin, going at a fast speed, hits something. The result, in a real situation, would be a conclusion, if hard enough.
- Hope that helps...and all of that's just my opinion.
- Ok, between having a really bad break, having work to catch up with and Justin losing on the PPV, I ain't having the best of days...so I thought I'd just give you the winners this week...you ain't gonna miss much...
- Bill Goldburg beats Jerry Flynn by Jackhammer
- Barry Darsow beats Jeff Bradley by Barely Legal
- Barbarian beats Roadblock by what I've heard to be a cross-arm breaker...I wasn't sure myself
- I remember speculation that, like Meng, Barbarian would be getting a "cool new finisher". Perhaps this was taped when that was still in the works
- John Nord over Adrian Bird by camel clutch
- Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom over Bill Payne and Butch Long
- Ric Flair over Brad Armstrong by Figure Four
- Since I've ripped you off two weeks in a row (ignoring the week I wasn't here)...I've got something cool planned next week, combining Kevin Bacon and Konnan...
- And I might have an announcement...but it ain't anything good...
