WCW Worldwide - Saturday, 6/6/98
- Popular rumor this week...WCW might be stop taping matches in Orlando after next time and just start using Saturday Night matches, redubbing them with different announcers. I think it's likely...if you were WCW, why would you spend money on Worldwide? It can't help any of the storylines that push people to buy the PPVs, it has the possibilitiy to turn off potential viewers (If Worldwide was the first WCW show you saw...that'd be a pretty bad first impression, IMO) and WCW really doesn't need it.
- My guess is it won't just be SN matches...but something like the current {Pro} format. That does a much better job of hyping the product than Worldwide can.
- You remember, about 23 months ago, when WCW choose three
of their "most loyal" members to fight the
yet-to-be-named nWo? Well, uh, they aren't too loyal now,
are they? :) Of the six men in the match, four are now
Wolfpac and two are nWo. (And if you believe some...on
Hall's return, it'll be five and one)
- Seriously...it's only a slight logo change from
red-white nWo shirt to a Wolfpac logo, so they
can drop the false pretense of being heels. And
we can back to the old pattern of the nWo taking
over and Sting, Savage, Luger and a giant (Nash
this tiem) fighting them off. De ja vu all over
again, I swear.
- Kinda intresting week in Chicago. We've all be hanging on
those two games this week. The first one, that overtime
classic, was so close and in the second one, the lead
just kept going back and forth down the stretch. Some
great games...
- But yes, the Cubs prevailed and are going to
sweep Sox Sunday...who'd you think I was talking
about? :)
- Enough kicking of a dead horse...let's watch the show
(No, that wasn't supposed to make sense)
- Chris Benoit over Barry Horowitz by Crippler Crossface
- Good to see Benoit in action, taking a break from
blowing the series to Booker T...
- Horowitz playing the heel, for those scoring at
home.
- Hmm...I'm 87% concious...I'll do a lot PBP for
once...
- Lock up, into the ropes, ref tries for clean
break, Horowitz with a sucker punch
- Horowitz kicking and stomping Benoit into the
mat...he pulls Benoit up...
- and knees him back down...Irish whip on Benoit..
- Is reversed and Benoit starts kicking the heck
out of Horowitz in the oppisite corner
- A forearm by Benoit and some chops (WOOOOO!)
- Horowitz with a drop toehold, back rake and then a
European uppercut and a headbutt as Benoit tries
to get up
- Benoit slumped in the corner, so Horowitz boot
chokes him...followed up with a hiptoss...
- Northern Lights Suplex by Horowitz nets a two
count and kickout. Horowitz immediately goes for
the pin again, and unsuprisingly, only gets a two
count.
- Standing leg drop by Horowitz and a cradle for
two. Both men get to their feet...
- Benoit with a kick to the stomach and a chop, but
Horowitz uses a abdominal stretch and cradles
Benoit. 2 count.
- Horowitz, digging deep in to his knowledge of
moves, steps on Benoit's throat.
- Ref gets the break, Benoit blocks a whip and snap
suplexes Horowitz for his first actual move of the
match.
- Benoit whips Horowitz, elbow..top rope...Swan
Dive...Crossface for the win.
- Lee Marshall w/Konnan. O-kay...no mention of the Goldberg
squash, if you cared to know
- Television Champion Fit Finley over Scott Louden by Tombstone
- You know, one of the by-products of the end of
the Orlando Tapings is the end of these guys like
Scott Louden...no more guys that...
- Finley puts me back to sleep...just quick recaps...
- Finley pretty much beats the heck out of Louden
for the whole match...wasn't even close for a
second
- Not a bad match...
- Bill Goldberg over Leroy Howard by Jackhammer
- Goldberg is 91-0, according to Tony...
- I'm not gonna even bother relating how this one
went...you know.
- Nitro Highlights - Luger joins the Wolfpac...but will Sting?
- If/when they do redo the show, they need to ditch the one week delay, ASAP.
- Kendal Windham over Tim Cheeks by bulldog headlock
- Exactly what I'm talking about with this matchup. If you owned WCW, would you deem in good to
be airing Windham vs Cheeks matches? I don't think so...makes no sense...
- Nothing worth mentioning in this squash...till...
- Cheeks misses a springboard moonsault...which
eventually sets up the end.
- This Week In WCW Motorsports
- You know, my thinking on this whole NASCAR/WCW thing is if they're going to do it, they ought to
have just gotten a sticker on guy's car that's going to win, instead of getting their own car,
but having nothing to show for it...then again, I really don't care.
- Villanos IV and V over Disorderly Conduct by top rope bodypress
- Yeaaa...one of these teams has to win! Who is the best of the jobber tag teams? The world needs to know.
- DC are the heels here, and V plays Face In Trouble...lots of nice double teaming by DC. They'd be good, if WCW acutally had a tag team division.
- Mean Mike hits Tough Tom with a clothesline when V ducks...hot tog to IV
- He controls but is caught and whipped into the turnbuckle, but ducks a Stinger Splash...IV raises one of DC up (I've lost track) and V hits the top rope bodypress.
- Nice match...and Villano's win! Now, we must see DC vs Power Company to see who is the worst :)
- Jim Duggan over Reese (w/Kidman, Riggs, Sick Boy and Horace Boulder) by Kneedrop
- Sharp pain in head when Duggan is on
- Not that Reese is any better...espically with no Lodi!
- I'm cheering for the ref. Go whatshisname!
- This was short...about as long as Glacier's entrance...but painful...
