This past Tuesday, I went home for lunch and turned on the TV to ESPN to watch SportsCenter. They did a story on bicep injuries in the NFL and compared it to wrestling injuries. They said it was a common injury in wrestling and that it is becoming common in football. During the story, they showed footage of Kevin Greene walking to the ring, the Reggie White and Mongo match and a Rick Steiner match. They listed a few NFL players that has had this injury lately and even mentioned the Steiner Brothers.
I thought you might find this interesting.
I am going to take a chance and say that Halloween Havoc will be the best pay-per-view WCW has ever put on...since the last one.
I'm a sports producer for the ABC affiliate in Green Bay, Wisconsin and on Friday nights we do a show called "Operation Football", dedicated to area high school football. In order to get as many highlights from as many games as possible, I shed my producer title and actually go out and shoot a couple of games each week for the show. So this Friday night I went off to Algoma, a quaint little enclave on the shore of Lake Michigan, to shoot the Algoma Wolves homecoming game against Oconto Falls (who, for factual purposes, is the defending D4 Wisconsin State Champ). I arrived early for the game and as I drove by the Algoma homecoming floats I was stunned to see spray-painted in huge yellow letters: "nWo!" What the hell...? On the very next float, also sprayed in big yellow letters: "Wolf Pac!" Boy, I thought, it's awfully odd to see wrestling stuff on a homecoming float, much less two of them... oh well, whatever. So I go in for the game and as the band prepares to play the school song I notice one of the band members wearing a black sweatshirt with the "nWo" logo on it in yellow! But he's not the only one... as I look around I see a couple of parents, a couple of students and even one of the assistant football coaches wearing one! Now I'm just confused. As I take a look closer at the sweatshirt (through my camera's lens) I see that it actually says "New WOLVES Order" and on the back it reads "Wolf Pac 4 Life!" Now I'm in hysterics... and then I see it... as I'm glancing at the program to pick out which kids are the stars of each team I see the cover. On the front is a picture of the homecoming court... and what do you think is the theme for this year's homecoming? A Journey through the Stars? Nope. A Voyage of Romance? Uh uh. It's PRO FREAKING WRESTLING! That's right... PRO WRESTLING IS THE THEME FOR THEIR HOMECOMING! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY KIDS HAVE TO WATCH PRO WRESTLING FOR IT TO BE THE THEME FOR HOMECOMING??????? Unreal...
Thought you and the readers of your page might interested in next week's episode of Love Boat: The Next Wave on UPN. Local airing can and does vary, so check your local listings.Anyway, here's the description, straight from TV Guide. I'll include the whole thing, including the non-relevant bit:
When her "grams" (Rue McClanahan) boards, Nicole tries to steer clear of the fact that she lied about being the ship's captain. Meanwhile, a bride throws in the towel when her wrestler husband (Bill Goldberg) has his partner (Kevin Nash) tag along on the honeymoon.I don't watch Love Boat, but I may tune in just to see how bad it is. It can't be any worse than Chucky, can it? Anyway, you have been warned :-)
The guy who played Jameson on the Bobby Heenan Show is now the host of The Pet Shop on Animal Planet. His name is Andy Kindler.
Bill, the following account came to me in a dream last night and it really freaked me out considering the potential accuracy:The scene was Nitro and The Horsemen were in the ring. All five of them were decked out in very fine suits, much like they were when Flair returned. All of a sudden, Mongo got on the mic and talked about something regarding the nWo and all and then he talked about how the Horsemen needed a security force. He then went on to say they didn't have to look far and all of a sudden, Barry Windham pops out of the entranceway and makes his way to the ring. After shaking hands with The Horsemen, Windham decks Mongo and the announcers are stunned. The Horsemen just stand there for awhile but then they take their coats off and Benoit begins to wail away on Mongo. After that, the dream ended and I woke up.
It really freaked me out when I heard Windham has been showing up backstage frequently. If this resembles something that really does go down, it's going to be quite eerie..
