I found myself watching WCW's Bash at the Beach '95 the other day (what was I smoking??). It was back in '95 when WCW was riding Hogan's wave of success, and Dave Sullivan beat DDP in an arm-wrestling contest to win a date with the Diamond Doll (Kimberly).
Well, on the date, Disco Inferno dressed in a rabbit suit (the Easter Bunny???) came up to Dave and the Doll and read a poem from DDP. I'm glad that wasn't his wrestling gimmick. Well, it could've been worse. They could've made him a disco-dancin' foo--oh, they already did that.
The shock value of seeing Disco Inferno dressed in a rabbit suit made the money I wasted on that tape ALMOST worth it.
ALMOST.
I was just glancing through the PPV results in the PWI Almanac, and a very interesting note for the 1992 Halloween Havoc caught my eye:IN A MATCH NOT SHOWN ON THE PAY PER VIEW TELECAST: Erik Watts and Van Hammer defeated "Diamond" Dallas Page and Vinnie Vegas when Watts pinned Page at 12:00 with an Oklahoma side roll.Do you think if DDP and Vinnie had been booking back then things might have gone a bit differently?
Well I don't remember it all because it was a rush seeing my first Nitro. But we were sitting down and my dad told me there was some wrestlers next to a Hummer.I go look and it's Macho Man, Sid, The Macho Girls, and Dusty Rhodes comes up. They looked like they were in the same place Nash ran the Hummer out of. I couldn't see who was driving the Hummer! I think it was Dusty because he was driving this cart around. His butt was hurting I think. Well, we shouted at them. a lot. Bunch of redneck stuff. Then they started putting up this curtain so we chanted "Assholes". They smiled. We laughed and left. It's strange because later on the curtain wasn't there and people would talk about wrestlers being there.
The show was pretty weird. Penzer would do the countdown then after one it seemed like a couple minutes until the cameras came back on.
I have to admit. DJ Ran was cool. He played some good music and keep the energy going. There was HUGE chants of "Goldberg" all nite long. The chant about Lenny Lane wasn't homosexual. It was "faggot", haha. It was funny. Everyone was quiet when that clipped played. No one said a word. Some guy tried to get in the ring to kick the Cat's ass, but security dragged him away and they hauled him all the way to the back.
After the show, Sting said "We got two words for you". Well I think it went black for you. There was a faint crowd yell of "Suck It". Then Sting and Luger stood in the ring for the longest time not doing anything. Sting started talking to someone outside the ring that worked for WCW. I think something was supposed to happen and it didn't. Luger shrugged it off and walked off. Sting as the crowd if we wanted to hear Luger speak. We chanted "Luger", but he walked out. Sting shouted for Luger to come back, but he didn't. We booed and he said "That was real weak, Lex". After that, moron Sting slowly walked off. The ending was for shit. No dark matches. I loved the show, but the ending matters to me, it makes the night complete.
Kanyon ruled! Well I didn't care for Master P. He ain't from here as for as I am concerned. Lash is my favorite from here. Bye!
Professional wrestler Arn Anderson had his hands full with the Raging Bull Sunday night, but it was an excitable fan who struck the hardest blow.Anderson, one half of the National Wrestling Alliance's heavyweight world tag team champion 'Minnesota Wrecking Crew', was wrestling in Charlotte Coliseum when an opponent known as the Raging Bull got an unauthorized assist from a spectator.
The man leaped from his seat and smacked the 230-pound Anderson across the back with a walking cane, police said. James Eugene McInnis, 24, a carpenter, was charged with assault and was released on $100 bail.
I was at the Nitro on 6/21. It BLEW!!!!!! Master P was in his home town and Kitty B. Badd got a bigger pop from the audience. When P came out I knew it was gonna suck. I thought I was bought tickets to Nitro not a rap concert.
I don't dislike rap but I would like to see some GOOD wrestling for my money. Everything was a screwjob!!!! Most of the fans were disappointed and I'm just really getting tired of the BULLS***T!!!!!! I was even thinking about asking them to turn on RAW on one of the jumbotrons when it was Silkk's party!!!!!
