WCW Saturday Night - Saturday, January 29, 2000
-
Okay, this report is coming on top of my first week of exams here at school
so it's going to be a quick recap of what happens on the show. Sorry
for this, but I have been swamped for the last few days and just didn't
have time to pump out a fully detailed report. Next weekend I shall
return to the usual reporting format.
-
On a different note, I also apologize for the number of typos in last week's
report. I turned it in late and didn't proof it as weel as I usually
do.
-
Match #1 Kid Romeo vs. Tommy Rogers
-
So what happened? Well Romeo strikes at my sanity with those damn
glowsticks and to add to the pain Tony Schiavone is standing in for Tenay
this week. In the match Rogers is playing the heel and takes early
control even though Romeo surprises him with some high flyer stuff.
Romeo pulls the win out of nowhere with a roll-up out of the corner.
-
YOUR WINNER: Kid Romeo via pinfall from a victory roll.
-
Decent match, if Romeo would turn heel like he's begging to be and get
rid of that stupid dancing gimmick then I think he will really have a future
in WCW.
-
We're back with Hudson and Skee-a-vone and they discuss the world title
situation with Sid Vicious and Kevin Nash. We get a replay of Sid
beating the Harris Boys and Nash on Nitro.
-
We come back again to the boys discussing what happened in Las Vegas at
Thunder. We again get a replay of all the shenanigans that ensue.
-
Match #2 Rob Williams vs. Lord Steven Regal w/ Dave Taylor
-
So what happened? Regal playing the heel as only he can and establishing
control early in the match. He would keep that control for the rest
of the match. Regal scores the pinfall win with a modified hangmen's
neckbreaker.
-
YOUR WINNER: Steven Regal via pinfall following a Hangmen's neckbreaker.
-
Good match and it's always nice to see Regal get a clean win.
-
Match #3 Mark Jindrak vs. Rick Cornell
-
So what happened? Jindrak surprises Cornell with a shot from the basketball. Cornell comes back fairly quickly with some nice amateur style wrestling. Good back and forth action here between these two. Cornell comes out of nowhere to hit an inverted swinging neckbreaker for the pin.
-
YOUR WINNER: Rick Cornell via pinfall following an inverted swinging neckbreaker.
-
Not a bad match, but Jindrak needed the win there. I actually kind of like the basketball player gimmick. It's hokey, but not overdone.
-
We come back to a replay of the interview between Mean Gene and Kimberly
with Kim stating emphatically that she didn't do anything with Buff Bagwell.
-
Match #4 Adrian Byrd vs. Al Green
-
So what happened? Well Green's Saturday Night win streak is apparently
going to continue. Green squashes Byrd and beats him with a
. . . right hand???
-
YOUR WINNER: Al Green via pinfall.
-
Well that sucked even on fast forward.
-
We get a replay of the match between Fit Finlay and Bam Bam Bigelow after Brian Knobbs stole the wrench from Finlay before the match.
-
Match #5 La Parka and Silver King vs. Villano IV and Villano V
-
So what happened? The Villanos take control early with a sneak attack.
Silver King plays the face in peril from the start of the match until La
Parka comes in and takes control for him and Silver King. Lots of
good high flying from the fattest of the luchadores. Silver King is
back to being the face in peril. And then we have the stupidest ending
ever, because La Parka never tagged in, but the pin was counted anyway.
-
YOUR WINNER: La Parka and Silver King via pinfall following a twisting heel kick.
-
Well good match until the lame ending, but La Parka won so I'll take it any way that I can get it.
-
We return to a discussion of Sting and The Total Package. We get a replay of Luger working over Bagwell on Thunder.
-
Match #6 Kaz Hayashi vs. Lash LeRoux
-
Yes, Kaz and Lash, I'm in cruiserweight heaven.
-
So what happened? Some great back and forth between these two.
Match predominately controlled by Lash, but Kaz is staying in it.
Kaz coming back and Lash fights his way back with the Bourbon Street Blues.
Kaz sneaks in a shot from outside and uses it to setup a slingshot DDT
for the win.
-
YOUR WINNER: Kaz Hayashi via pinfall following a slingshot DDT.
-
Good match with a surprise ending. I like both guys so that match
was a win/win situation.
-
Match #7 Bobby Eaton vs. The Demon
-
So what happened? Well it was a really sloppy match and I'm damn
near positive that wasn't Bobby Eaton's fault. The Demon wins with
a chicken wing slam, but it was a really crappy looking move
-
YOUR WINNER: The Demon via pinfall.
-
That was a waste of celluloid and an even bigger waste of Bobby Eaton's talent.
