WCW Worldwide - Saturday, 02/05/00
-
You'd think someone would bother to take out that Chris Benoit guy from the opening.
-
After Tony previews the show, we go over the mug situation again.
-
Tony has a coffee mug.
-
Tony gives Bobby a soup bowl sized mug.
-
Oh yeah, we're reminded that Bobby's going to the Power Plant.
-
Sid wins the World Title
-
"He'll see the stars of tomorrow, but right now, let's go to the real star of tomorrow, Sid."
-
Nice way to bury the talent, dude.
-
Every time Tony says "Roadblock match", I remember that god-like wrestler.
-
Back to Nitro 1/24:
- the Don Harris/Sid match set up
- most of that match
- The Nash match
-
Why in the world would Charles Robinson think Sid got hit with the guitar
if a shard of it's still lying on Nash's chest?
-
Tony babbles some more, and we'll get to Thunder after the break.
-
Sid wins the World Title, again
-
Bobby: "[Nash] has made Sid an enemy, forever."
-
This whole angle annoys me...
-
I mean, that count out was happening right in front of the announcers, but they don't realize that till two days later?
-
I think that crossface hurts me watching more than it hurt Nash...
-
Recap of the Hardcore Title situation
-
Knobbs tricked Finley, causing him to lose the match for a title shot to
Bam Bam Bigelow.
-
Bigelow faces Knobbs at Superbrawl.
-
That's about the extent of how much I care, so I zone out and you don't
get any goofy lines from this segment.
-
Except nothing that Bigelow (in match from Thunder 1/26) didn't even come close to hitting to the Greetings...
-
They go over the Super Brawl lineup
-
The way they hype this "Bobby visits the Power Plant", I'm just waiting for a swerve.
-
Tony says "roadblock" again.
- Did I just see Eddie in the background video? I think I did.
- This week's T-Shirt ad is Sid.
- And boy, this dialogue sounds weird.
-
Or normal for Sid:
-
Sid: "Some people say 'Sid, you are the Millennium Man, do you stand on
the highest mountain' I say 'No man should cast a stone to knock me down,
for I am the master (HaHaHaHa!) and ruler of the world'.
-
What the HECK does that mean?
-
Barry Horowitz vs Bobby Walker
-
No Mike Tenay this week, which confuses Hudson.
-
"It's hard to get hard work here on Worldwide"
-
I swear I've recapped this match up before...
-
Walker goes for a takedown, but comes up empty.
-
Lockup into the corner, break.
-
Drop toe hold by Horowitz, Walker reverses it on the mat to a hammerlock.
Barry to the ropes.
-
Your ref is Mark "Sometimes Evil" Johnson.
-
Horowitz with a waistlock, reversal, followed by a few more reversals that
lead to an escape and nothing.
-
Tenay's apparently stuck at catering.
-
Lockup, side headlock by Walker.
-
Horowitz with a wristlock followed by a hair pull.
-
Wow, this is a slow start.
-
I mean, if they were going into a fifteen minute match, it'd be good and all.
-
But I don't think we're going five.
-
Horowitz with some forearms, whip, lift, Barry with a good behind, then followed by a backbreaker, and double stomp.
-
Barry with a knee lift.
-
Decent 'Barry sucks' chant.
-
Barry with a Northern Lights Suplex, 2 count.
-
Barry with a back rake, kick, European Uppercut, headbutt, cross whip, run in, right into an elbow.
-
Walker with fists, whip, back elbow.
-
Horowitz begs off, but no go.
- Walker with a front slam, jumps to the top rope, walks the ropes, diving lariat, and 3.
-
Your Winner: Bobby Walker (4:01)
-
You know, I think Walker's better than Iaukea.
-
Rick Cornell vs the Demon
-
Wow, two matches.
-
I know for sure that it'll be a swerve for the Power Plant segment.
-
Tenay's still not back.
-
Hudson says "RollerDerby" for some reason.
-
Now, the Demon's supposed to be contracted for 14 appearances...
-
...I wonder how many he has left.
-
And then, will we see the return of MVP?
-
The Demon with an armbar, then an double leg sweep.
-
The Demon with stomps.
-
Hudson is far more interested in Tenay's whereabouts then this match.
-
The Demon with a double underhook suplex.
-
The Demon with forearms, cross whip, elbow into the corner.
-
The Demon pulls Cornell's pony tail.
-
The Demon with a whip, kick, off the ropes and a kneelift.
-
Your ref is Mickey Jay.
-
The Demon with a snap suplex, cross whip, reversed, the Demon with a big
boot.
-
The Demon misses a clothesline, Cornell with a dropkick that only dazes
the Demon, Demon knocks him down.
-
The Demon with a cross whip, Cornell rebounds, the Demon with a chicken
wing slam
-
Apparently, that's the Kiss Of Death, his finisher.
-
This gimmick is the kiss of death, but that's another story.
-
Your Winner: Demon (2:58)
-
Back to the studio
-
Bobby's finally off to the Power Plant.
-
Well, after walking around the studio for a while.
-
We finally go to Bobby, who's just outside the studio.
-
Bobby talks to his camera crew.
-
This is so 'bad comedy' segment, in case you couldn't guess.
-
Bobby gets lost looking for the Power Plant, and gets locked inside a fence.
-
Bobby yells for a someone to come unlock him.
-
Maybe if the camera guy who's a foot away from him (and who we saw lock the door) let him out, we'd be better off.
-
Tony apologizes for Bobby getting lost, and that he'll get it right next week.
-
I'd like an apology for wasting time on something I only marginally care about for two (soon to be three) weeks going.
-
Tony, as the show ends "What a dummy...what a dummy."
