WCW Saturday Night - Saturday, February 19, 2000
-
Well, another birthday has come and gone and so has another episode of WCW
Saturday Night. That's right, this report marks the 22nd anniversary
of my being put on this planet. Am I going to do something special?
Honestly, not really, let's just hope that this episode is a birthday gift enough.
-
Match #1 Chad Hart and Rick Fuller vs. Harris Boys
-
Larry Z. is now on the show in a full-time capacity, but that's okay...I kind of like the old school nature of Larry Z.
-
Well not a great way to open the show here or to wish me a happy b-day.
-
Long Story Short: The Harris Boys are basically squashing the jobbers in
this one with Fuller never even getting to tag in.
-
YOUR WINNER: The Harris Boys via pinfall following a double team slam.
-
Post match the Harris Boys rant about being at Superbrawl regardless of the ban.
-
Without going to commercial, we head to the back where Larry Z. and Scott
Hudson are already pumping up Superbrawl. Of course the special Dan's
birthday episode of Saturday Night had to come before a pay-per-view and
therefore I have to listen to the underwhelming line-up.
-
Match #2 Hacksaw Jim Duggan w/2x4 and Trashbag full of God-knows-what
vs. The Spoken Word
-
Why in the hell is Duggan wearing his janitor gear again?
-
Duggan gets on the mic and blabbers until he opens the trashbag and reveals
that while he was a janitor he found the TV Title in the trashcan.
Duggan then actually says something I really like that the for 20 years
the TV Title represented the best that professional wrestling had to offer
and that's longer than all the other primadonna wrestling shows have been
on the air, amen! Duggan says he's going to shine up the belt and
bring some respect back to it. Duggan goes on to say that if anybody
wants to challenge him for the title then they are more than welcome to
it. Robert Gibson from the Rock and Roll express comes out to make
the challenge for later tonight.
-
YOUR WINNER: The Spoken Word via complication.
-
Hacksaw, God bless him, was just having some trouble with those big words
tonight. I'll grant him this though, nobody in the back will wear
that title with as much pride as Hacksaw will and in that sense he's okay
with me.
-
Match #3 3-Count vs. Disorderly Conduct
-
They sing to make it more painful and do you even have to ask if I'm going to?
-
Long Story Short: 3-Count doing okay at the start of the match with some
nice high flyer stuff. The hot tag is made after about, oh, let's say
a full 1 of being a face in peril. Slingshot moonsault is caught,
but Shane follows up with a slingshot body press to knock Tom over for the pin.
-
YOUR WINNER: 3-Count via pinfall.

Well so far my birthday is sucking. This episode is like getting
socks for your birthday.

I almost care more about Hammer than Hogan and that's sad.
Well, an okay show with some decent action in the middle, but the stuff
at the end was just plain bad. Oh well maybe I'm getting bitter in
my old age. See you next week folks.
