WCW Worldwide - Saturday, 3/11/00
-
I'm late. And tired.
-
So, this will probably be a better report.
-
Hey, someone took the shot of Benoit out of the opener!
-
Jarrett's in his place.
-
Sid's in there, too, I don't know who he replaces.
-
You can still see Benoit, I think, if you look carefully in the right place
-
This week, we've got Larry Z and Tony S as guests.
-
I'm not really listening to the show closely, so if they say something
stupid, I'll probably miss it.
-
Oh well.
-
First up, Sid's big match versus Tank Abbott
-
Back to Nitro 2/28.
-
We get the aftermath of guitar...
-
...the dizzy interview
-
and the second half of the match.
-
Tony plugs the Sid video.
-
I fast forward through this video.
-
3 Count sing (and wrestle) their way into your heart
-
Back to Nitro and we watch a handicap match for the Hardcore title.
-
Or pretend to.
-
I prefer to avert my eyes when Knobs is on my screen.
-
Lex Luger is not a nice person
-
To prove this, we watch him take on Vampiro from Thunder
3/1
-
Wow, Luger's faster than I remember him being.
-
Must be the fast-forwarding.
-
Hulk Hogan.
-
Admit it: You stopped caring as soon as I said his name.
-
Wow. Hogan talks fast.
-
Tony hypes Uncensored.
-
Mona vs Sherri Martel
-
Arena announcers are Mike Tenay, Bobby Heenan (and Madusa, for at least
this match.)
-
I could think of so many better things Mona could be doing.
-
No, no, I didn't mean it THAT way.
-
More like 'The women's division should be built around her, instead of
using her as the face that heels get to beat up on before losing to Madusa.'
-
Sherri jumps Mona in the aisle with a double axe handle.
-
Madusa "Sherri and I go way back."
-
Yes, we all know you're old.
-
As Martel chokes out Mona with her own skirt on the outside, Tenay adds
that this a no-DQ match.
-
Sherri rolls in and pulls Mona in after.
-
Sherri with an eye poke, and a few pelvic thrusts. Okay.
-
Sherri with a cross corner whip, body splash.
-
Sherri chokes Mona on the ropes.
-
Madusa annoys me on commentary.
-
Apparently, she's a very hot person.
-
I did not know that.
-
Sherri with a whip, ugly clothesline.
-
While we're watching Madusa talk about Mona, Mona hits a crossbody block
for a 2 count.
-
Mona with a whip, back elbow.
-
Mona pushes Sherri into the corner and lays in some kicks
-
Mona with a corner whip, handspring backpress connects.
-
Mona with another corner whip, reversed, Sherri charges in to follow but
Mona moves out of the way, behind Sherri, and gets a roll up for 3.
-
Your Winner: Mona
-
That's good.
-
Sherri and Madusa have words.
-
Or at least Madusa does, 'cause we don't hear Sherri
-
Madusa challenges her to a match, winner faces Mona (for the title?)
-
After replays, it gets to a standoff, till Martel walks off.
-
Madusa : "You want a match with me? I'm going kick your (bleep)"
-
El Dandy and Silver King vs Mamaluking Paisians
-
It only took them, what, 4 years, to settle on pairings for the luchas guys?
-
Madusa's gone. I'm so sad.
-
Tenay hypes Dandy's Right Hand of Stone.
-
Oops, it was just a way to talk about Tank Abbott.
-
This a title match.
-
They could swap belts, and you'd just now know about it.
-
Where's Disco?
-
Tenay uses Johnny and Vito to talk about all the young tag teams in WCW
-
Bobby brings up that new rookie duo: Luger and Flair.
-
Since the champs are stalling outside, Dandy comes at them with a pescado
on Vito, Silver King with a springboard cross body on Johnny
-
The announcers ignore this, of course.
-
Dandy rolls in, and Silver King throws in Johnny.
-
Dandy with the right hand, whip, lots of duck unders and leapfrogs, King
comes in, a double hiptoss and an assisted senton ensue.
-
King covers, gets 2 before Vito breaks it up.
-
Silver King with a right hand, whip, reverse, Johnny catches him in spinebuster
position, Vito comes in, runs off both ropes, and hits a clothesline.
-
Vito smacks Dandy, then a double stomp down on Silver King.
-
Double whip, double sledges, double stomps.
-
The ref, who's made no effort to get Vito out of the ring for all 20 seconds
he's been in, won't let Dandy come in to break it up.
-
Maybe they should add that to the racial discrimination lawsuit.
-
The ref decides that Vito is legal, and Johnny leaves the ring.
-
I guess this is one of those 'no-tags' luchadore-style tag matches.
-
Right hand by Vito, followed by a whip and clothesline.
-
Vito celebrates and tags Johnny.
-
Double whip, double elbow to the gut, Johnny with a boot, Vito with a swinging
neckbreaker.
-
The ref, distracted by Dandy, is slow to count the pin, so they only get
2.
-
Tenay finally notices Disco is not here.
-
Johnny tags in Vito.
-
Vito and Silver King exchange shots, Vito with a whip, Silver King with
a Sunset flip for 2.
-
Vito up quick, King under the clothesline but the thrust kick is right
on target.
-
Vito with a whip, King holds the ropes, Vito charges, and King backdrops
him out of the ring.
-
Johnny comes in, gets dropped by a toe hold, then hit with simultaneous
kicks to the head.
-
Dandy covers, but only gets 2 before Vito breaks it up.
-
All four in, with the luchas each trying for the Ten Punch Count Along,
but Johnny and Vito both reversing it into powerbombs.
-
Silver King is thrown to the floor, Dandy gets a knee to the midsection
from Johnny and an Implant DDT by Vito.
-
That's enough for the win
-
Your Winners: The Paisians (3:36)
-
Here's the Harris Brothers to attack...
-
H-Bomb's to Dandy and Silver King.
-
H-Bomb's to Johnny and Vito.
-
The fans...don't care.
-
Wow, I want to see this PPV match now.
-
Tony talks about how much he doesn't want to be on Worldwide next week.
-
Really, he does.
-
Then they talk about Sid vs JJ.
-
I tune out.
-
That's it.
