WCW Worldwide - Saturday, 5/6/00
-
Bobby Heenan and Scott Hudson are your announcers.
-
David Arquette is whatever, but first, let's go to the arena.
-
Mike Awesome in an (AWESOME?) Handicap match.
-
Let's hear from the man.
-
He doesn't care about the two guys he's going to face
-
He talks about himself a lot.
-
Apparently, he was in Japan for a long time, and then he came to WCW.
-
Nothing in between.
-
I did not know that.
-
He doesn't care about Chris Kanyon either.
-
Also, the Misfits are in action, in an 8-man tag match
-
Tenay and Hudson seem to want to call them "the Crew"
-
Back to the studio, and DDP's life
-
Okay, this is kinda funny.
-
Hudson talks about the divorce, referring to DDP and Kim
-
Heenan, of course, goes of on a different tangent, saying that it was just
traffic that caused him to come home late last night.
-
Hudson: "If we can might stick to pro-wrestling for a change...."
-
How right you are.
-
Anyway, they talk, we see clips from Nitro
4/24
-
The interview...
-
Bischoff/Arquette, including the worm.
-
In fact, the match is clipped so that, besides the finish, it is the only
action shown.
-
Interesting choice.
-
JJ/DDP and DDP winning the title
-
Bobby hypes all the press picking up on the next title change...
-
Now, someone else is champ.
-
The New Blood and the Millionaire's Club don't get along.
-
Heenan's happy that Kidman's beating up Hogan.
-
Back to Nitro, for more clips.
-
It's time for Ask WCW
-
This week's question if from Mark Witham, from Wells, Maine
-
He wants to know who inspired Vampiro to wrestle, and how he learned to wrestle.
-
Bobby expresses his displeasure that we aren't playing "Stump the Brian"
-
Vampiro (courtesy of taped interview) says:
-
He started wrestling 16 years ago, in Montreal, for International Wrestling,
which was run by Dino Bravo and Rick Martel.
-
He sold programs and set up the ring, and learned how to take bumps in
between shows. He traveled with them around the country.
-
Then, he went to Mexico, with no formal training,
-
He was a fan of rock and Vampires, so they came up with the Vampiro gimmick.
-
He spent sometime in Japan learning submission wrestling, then back to
Mexico, then to WCW.
-
His main influences were Tiger Mask, Dynamite Kid and the Road Warriors
-
Shane Eden and P.W. Douglas vs Mike Awesome.
-
Douglas is fat.
-
Eden is not.
-
Neither is that important
-
Awesome attacks both, but they take control.
-
Double whip, duck under clothesline, flying clothesline on both.
-
Eden thrown to the outside.
-
Punches for Douglas, clothesline, and then he throws Douglas out.
-
Springboard lariat to the outside on both.
-
Douglas gets whipped into the guardrail.
-
Douglas gets a padded chair, then Eden is thrown into the steps.
-
Awesome throws Eden back in, corner whip, running corner clothesline.
-
Awesome with a running splash, cover, Douglas breaks it up.
-
Douglas with a corner whip, and then whips Eden, who eats boot.
-
Clothesline for Douglas, then a slam, up top, Frog Splash.
-
Cover, 2 count as Eden breaks it up.
-
Awesome with a whip, split legged powerbomb on Eden.
-
Awesome goes to the outside and throws in two tables.
-
Powerbomb through a table for Douglas.
-
Powerbomb through a table for Eden.
-
Nice overhead shot for this.
-
One handed cover on each, and that's three.
-
Your Winner: Mike Awesome
-
Cory Williams/Cassidy Reilly/Rick Michaels/James Storm vs Chavo Guerrero/Van
Hammer/Hugh Morrus/Lash LeRoux
-
The first team gets no graphic, so I'm guessing on spellings
-
Wow. Hammer's wearing a Toryumon T-Shirt.
-
Toryumon is ex-WCW wrestler Ultimo Dragon's promotion.
-
Although I've never got my hands on a tape, I've heard that it features
a lot of quick, face paced action.
-
Which goes to show, that even though Van Hammer can't wrestle good himself,
he does appreciate those who do.
-
Or, he just grabbed this T-Shirt out of a box someplace.
-
The announcers really want to call them the Motley Crew.
-
That must have been turned down by the WCW legal department
-
Hammer and Reilly start.
-
Hammer with the pushdown from a lockup.
-
Reilly ducks under a clothesline, punches to the back, dropkick to the
back, but the handspring elbow is avoided.
-
Hammer with punches, put Reilly on the second turnbuckle, delayed superplex.
-
2 count, Cory Williams in to break it up, and Chavo ejects him from the
ring.
-
Lash is in, punches, whip, backdrop on Rick Michaels.
-
Lash with a punch, punch, and Bourbon Street Blues.
-
Tag to Chavo, chop, European Uppercut, whip, and Michaels tags to Cory
Williams.
-
Williams gets a hiptoss, missed a clothesline and eventually gets hit by
one from Chavo
-
Chavo with a drop-kick, Williams tag in James Storm, who gets put in armbar
and into the Misfits' corner.
-
Tag to Hugh, who kicks Storm in the corner.
-
Whip, press slam by Hugh.
-
Hugh gets tripped up into the non-Misfits corner, and what Dusty would
call "Clubbering" commences.
-
The rest of the Misfits make the save, knocking everyone who's not James
Storm to the floor.
-
Storm with a corner whip, but it's reversed and Hugh hits an avalanche
splash.
-
Hugh asks the fans if they want one more. They do, and he gives them another
splash.
-
He asks again, they agree, so he sets up for another splash, but Lash comes
into to talk to him.
-
Ahh, Lash wants to do it. So, Hugh whips him into Storm, with a flying
hipblock.
-
Hammer in with a big boot.
-
Storm's up, and staggers right into the Chavo Tornado DDT.
-
The misfits clear out the rest, and that's good enough for the win.
-
Your Winners: The Misfits.
-
Scott and Bobby talk about Arquette, and we're done.
