WCW Monday Nitro - Wednesday, August 9, 2000
-
This report is going to be very small compared to my usual stuff.
-
TRIVIA I NEED ANSWERED THIS WEEK: On July 29th, 1989 on Saturday
Night's Main Event, what IC Title Match was omitted from the card? According
to the WWF story line, why was Rick Rude indefinitely suspended in the
fall of 1990? What wrestler crashed the wedding reception of Paul Vachon
in 1985? Who was Mean Gene Okerlund interviewing at Summerslam '89, when
the sign behind him fell, causing him to swear on live PPV?
Who wrestled Ted DiBiase in a 10-minute match in early 1991? If you
know any of these e-mail me.

-
Hey, look, the NWA is in Wildwood, NJ tonight. Should I go? Hell no. I
went to the ISPW shows last year and they were great. These shows, though,
follow the "old, washed up wrestlers draw fans" philosophy.

disrupt the show and claim innocent victims for the remainder of the evening."
-
Jarrett then whacks Penzer with the guitar.
-
Hah!
-
Jarrett says that everything he does is on Booker's head.
-
Jarrett says he's going to get the belt and that's not a threat, that's
a guarantee.
-
Interview with Booker T conducted by Tony<./li>
-
I already viewed this interview and I didn't see anything really special
in it so I'll summarize it real quickly.
-
Being Champion means a lot, he'll defend the title every week, he retained
his sanity through all the egos because he wrestled a lot of established
guys in his independent days, getting the title to early in a career can
hurt the career (ever heard of Tommy Rich?), he feels no pressure, his
knee is inflamed bad but won't need surgery, he's probably pushing it too
much, and they'll have to kill him to get the belt.
-
George Foreman and that little kid is getting on my nerves.
-

Madden

-

-

-
The announcers laugh (I do, too) that the hot tags are going to be made to
Gene and Madden.
-
Okerlund ducks a clothesline and knocks Madden down a nice shot.
-
Madden then kicks Gene in the balls (Madden can hardly get his foot up
that high).
-
Tony: "Wait, he didn't sell that at all."
-
Okerlund then takes out his cup and presses it against Madden's face.
-
Yuck.
-
Bagwell comes off with a Buff Blockbuster on Madden. Gene covers for the
three count at around five and a half minutes.
-
I liked this match. Probably because I've always liked matches that
had a feud and then two goofs wrestling on the other side of it. Also,
I like Madden's announcing and persona.
-
Kanyon runs in and Kanyon Cuts Buff Bagwell.
-
Kanyon goes into the corner and chokes Gene Okerlund.
-

in in the process.

and Muta working over Sting.
-

-
The Demon drools strawberries all over him and executes the Scorpion Deathlock
to Sting.
-
We then fade to black.
-
The Good: Hey look, Three Company Two or whatever it's called is
on. The show was pretty solid tonight with some good angles following up
to the PPV.
-
The Bad: The Booker T interview kind of wasn't needed as we already
knew everything he said except the details of his knee injury.
-
The Ugly: Major Gunns' face. The rest of her, well, that's another
story.
