WCW Worldwide - Saturday, 9/9/00

Odd. The last half of ECW Hardcore (right before Worldwide in Chicago) didn't appear.
- It was just a blank, black screen for 30 minutes.
- Hope that's not a sign of ECW's future.
- They did manage to show the last couple minutes or so.
- Guess someone was just asleep at the switch.

If I was paying attention, I would have mentioned the changes in the opening title sequence a while ago
- Sid out, Booker T in.
- Someone else got taken out for Kevin Nash.
- So, it's Nash, Booker T and Jeff Jarrett and Goldberg. for the intros
  - May mean something.
  - May not.

Is Bret Hart back in the Band?
- Heenan and Hudson discuss.
- Is that the official name of the group? The Band?
- Heenan: "I'm out for myself. You're out for yourself. You don't like Mike or Tony."
- Hudson claims that he's really good friends with both Mike and Tony, as we send it to the ring.

To ringside...with Konnan?
- Eh. Could be worse.
- Like "Later tonight, Tygress vs Paisley vs Major Gunns with Madusa as special refree"
  - I haven't done anything to deserve this.
  - Konnan talks about young blood.

Mean Gene talks to Leia Meow (w/The Jung Dragons)
- Leia's yelling as the segment begins.
- Gene asks Kaz for comments.
- Kaz responses with gibberish.
  - It sure didn't sound like Japanese.
- Anyway, Leia's going teach these guys respect.

Last year, the nWo reformed. It didn't work out then. So let's do it again!
- Heenan: "Vince Russo isn't just a guy from New York with a big mouth..."
- Heenan: "Russo, whether you like him or not, is a genius...when it comes to conniving"
- Back to Nitro.
  - Nash speaks
    - The audio's horribly out of sync with Nash's mouth.
  - Russo makes the title match.
    - The audio's a second or two ahead of the picture.
    - It's very annoying to watch.
  - The Cat talks, while Booker T's mysteriously appeared.
  - The Cat and Booker T fight.
  - To the match. Clipped, of course.
- Heenan's busy playing with the Sting Inflatable Hammer as we return to the studio.
  - Why did they make a Sting Inflatable Hammer?
  - Who was asking for this product?

- Heenan, in between destroying the laptop, "That's a great question. What, that must have taken you 14 seconds to figure out that one?"
  - Heenan rules.
- Jeff gives an interesting response
  Listen Andrew, in the year 2000, there's no such thing as a professional wrestler. The correct term is sports entertainer, so get it right next time, slappy.
  - I'm not sure if that's supposed to be a deep, meaningful statement on how wrestling as Jeff (and his dad) knew it is dead...
  - Or if someone just hit stop on the video machine too soon.
- Heenan completes his ~~repair~~ destruction of the laptop, and we go to the ring.

Mike Rapada vs Sean O'Haire (w/Mark Jindrak)
- Konnan talks about the Thrillers beating up Orndoff in the Power Plant.
  - Thing is, that hasn't happened yet, in Worldwide's time line.
- Lockup, O'Haire powers out. O'Haire with a right, hair pull, Rapada with a punch, but O'Haire kicks him down.
- Jindrak joins the announcers, and says nothing of note.
- O'Haire with a knee lift, punches in the corner.
- Corner whip, reverse, Rapada charges into a shoulder, O'Haire quickly to the top, forward flip over Rapada and a side kick.
- O'Haire with a martial arts pose/pin, but only gets 2.
- O'Haire with a whip, Rapada ducks under the clothesline and hits a swinging neckbreaker.
- Rapada with a flying forearm, cover, 2 count.
  - Konnan claims he saw Rapada working at the KFC yesterday.
- Whip, dropkick by Rapada. Whip again, cross body, 2 count.
- Rapada off the ropes, right into an O'Haire clothesline.
- O'Haire with a whip into an arm drag.
- O'Haire goes to the top, Seanton Bomb. That's 3.
- Your Winner: Sean O'Haire.

Kory Williams, Bryan McNeal and Chris Harris vs the Jung Dragons (wo/Leia Meow)
- The Jung Dragons get attacked when posing on the ropes.
- All 3 NWA-W guys beat up the Jung Dragons, throwing Jamie and Kaz out of the ring
- McNeal gives Yang a faceslam, and Yang rolls out.
- Now Leia Meow's out, to yell at the Dragons for getting beat up.
- Yang's in with Kory Williams, using his martial arts punches, and then a urinage into a side backbreaker. Cover, 2 count.
- Yang tries for a whip, reversed, Yang goes into his corner.
- Kaz tags himself in, ducks under a clothesline, but gets hit with a forearm shot.
- Kory with a whip into the corner, charges in, but Kaz jumps to the top rope and backflips out.
- McNeal jumps in, and grabs Kaz in a full nelson. Kory charges...
- But Kaz takes him down with a headscissors, and then uses an arm drag to get out of the full nelson.
- Chris jumps in, and hits Kaz in the back.
- He holds Kaz from behind for a double chop for Bryan and Kory, but Kaz escapes and Chris gets chopped.
- Bryan and Kory are stunned, but then Kaz taunts them to charge at him again.
- They do, and both get grounded by a top rope cross body from Yang.
- Chris tries again, attacking Yang from behind and telling his partners to hit him.
- But again, Yang escapes, and they both nail him.
  - They should call it a day right now.
- Yang goes into his martial arts pose. Bryan and Kory answer back with ones of their own...and get eyepoked.
- Kaz and Yang hit jumping side kicks, knocking Bryan and Kory to the outside.
- Kaz and Yang go to the ropes...stereo Asai Moonsaults!
  - I kinda' hope the Jung Dragons never get over, but always stay motivated, so I can see them does this stuff every week
- That leaves Jamie, who hits a slingshot 'rana on Chris on the outside.
- Jamie and Chris in, whip reversed, Jamie reverses a hiptoss, escapes, and hits a Russian Legsweep.
- Jamie with a 2nd rope twisting legdrop. Cover, 2 count.
  - It's nice having Konnan around, 'cause he's calling moves.
- Jamie with kicks in the corner, corner whip is reversed, Harris charges in but eats boot, Jamie rushes out, misses a clothesline, Chris misses one, Jamie goes for a hiptoss, but Chris reverses it into a swinging neckbreaker.
- Harris tags in Kory, whip, and Jamie reverses it into a spinning headscissors.
- Jamie charges at Kory, but gets backdropped to the apron.
- Jamie recovers with a shoulder to the gut, and a turnbuckle smash.
- Jamie to the top, but Kory crotches him.
- Yang in, and Yang gets a pump handle side slam from Kory.
- Kory covers...but referee Jamie Tucker remembers that Yang's not the legal man, so he doesn't count.
- Jamie off the top with a legdrop to bring up the non-pin.
  - Konnan: "Reminiscent of Psychosis"
- Chris Harris in with a belly to belly suplex on Jamie and then taunts Kaz.
- Kaz with a kick from the outside to head, and then a slingshot DDT.
- Kaz covers, McNeal breaks it up.
- McNeal with a press slam on Kaz, but Jamie takes him down with a kick to the leg.
- Yang loads up the behind the back piledriver, and drops McNeal.
- That's good enough for the win...even if it's not a legal man.
- Your Winners: The Jung Dragons
- Post match, Leia Meow says they're getting better, but they're not good enough yet.
- So, they must lick her boots.
- The Dragons have a tough time understanding the concept, and point out that they won.
- Konnan volunteers to help.

- Nash/Booker T - WCW Title
- Goldberg/Scott Steiner
- Jeff Jarret/Mike Awesome - Bunkhouse Brawl
  - Heenan talks about the sentimental losses Jarret must be feeling after Awesome destroyed his guitars.
  - Heenan also talks about Jarrett's prized Maury Feldman autographed guitar.
- Kidman/Douglas - Scaffold Match
- Storm/Rection - North American Title
  - Heenan: "Major Gunns may be the puck girl for the Calgary Flames!"
- Sting/Great Muta/Vampiro
- Kronic vs the Harris Brothers - Chain Match

Paisley (w/o KeeWee, but with his music) vs Tygress (wo/the Animals) vs Major Gunns (wo/MIA or Team Canada, w/her normal gear)
- Madusa's wearing a low cut ref shirt, of course
- Paisley with a kick to Gunns back, Tygress with a punch.
- Tygress with a top rope cross body for 2.
- Tygress with a choke, and holds her for Paisley.
- Paisley accidentally kicks Tygress instead.
- Major Gunns with a stomp, but then lets Tygress to her feet.
- Gunns misses with a slap, Tygress hits one, and Paisley clotheslines Gunns.
- Tygress picks Gunns up by her hair, and tag in Paisley.
- Tygress with a body slam, Paisley stalls on the 2nd rope, and hits a spin kick for the win.
- Your Winner: Paisley
- Remember, about a year and 9 months ago, when we had a great Starla Saxton (Mona)/Malia Hosaka match?
- This was nothing like that.
- Double team stomp down afterwards, but Tygress back off the high five from Paisley.
- Tony, calling the replay: "This was the winning move. It caught her right across the...well, ya know."
  - Tony SO mails it in on this show.
