WCW Monday Nitro - September 18, 2000

After 3 years, 3 company presidents, being at the top of the ratings and then at the bottom, after countless memories and so many great experiences; I am finally saying good-bye to WCW. The company has been undergoing major financial cutbacks and consolidation, and once the Saturday morning show that I was slated to co-host was cancelled, WCW was left with the decision of how they wanted to utilize my talents. With no other show for me to host and no immediate story-line to place me in, it was time to make the tough decision.

So I'm moving full force into other avenues of entertainment. I currently have several opportunities and programs in the works. Keep checking back for all of the latest, because believe me everyone, I'm just getting started.

Thanks to all of my great fans for all of your love and support, I promise that there is much more to come!

Since Ms. Bellin is no longer with the company, from now on, all ratings pictures will be depicted with Stevie Ray puckering up (aka "The DDT Digest Pose" — © CRZ).

Okay, hold those hate mails, because I was just kidding. With all due respect to our Patron Saint, I will continue to honor Spice's contributions to WCW by continuing to use Spice pictures to judge how good a match is.

• This will be a continuation of the elimination match from last night, with Rey and Tygress taking on the five remaining Thriller members.
• Rey hits his Bronco Buster on Mark Jindrak.
• Jindrak comes back with a fireman's carry neckbreaker.
• O'Haire comes in, and Rey evades the two for a while until getting powerbombed.
• O'Haire goes up top and misses the Sean-Ton Bomb.
• Tygress comes in and she and Rey roll up Jindrak and O'Haire, eliminating them both.
• Now, Chuck Palumbo comes in for the heels.
• Rey assists Tygress with a legdrop.
• Rey goes up top but Shawn Stasiak trips him.
• Palumbo grabs Tygress and catapults her onto Rey's crotch.
• On the ropes, Stasiak and Palumbo combine for a leapfrog as Rey tries to floatover.
• Palumbo whips Rey, who tries to floatover but gets caught.
• Rey wiggles out and runs to the ropes but gets caught by Stasiak.
• Palumbo charges but hits his own man.
• Palumbo gets an overhead suplex.
• We see Kwee-Wee at ringside, and Stasiak in laid out.
• Palumbo does a sit-down powerbomb on Rey and pins him.
• At the same time, Tygress covers Stasiak.
• Palumbo goes after Tygress but gets pinned by a roll-up.
• This leaves Mike Sanders and Tygress.
• Sanders controls for a while but Rey sneaks in from behind with a top-rope dropkick.
• Tygress hits a facebuster and gets the final pin.
• YOUR WINNER: Tygress via facebuster in 5:01.
• So Tygress got put over FOUR FRICKIN' GUYS?
• The Natural Born Thrillers are DEAD.
  

• Doug Dillenger knocks on a door for the security escort.
• Out comes... Vince Russo. * sigh *
• Dillenger has to tell Russo where to go.
• The fireworks go up and Russo comes out to the stage.
• The crowd cheers at first but boos are evident after ten seconds.
• Russo points to the picture of him doing the Chris Jericho Pin on Goldberg and brags.
• Russo says he received a registered letter from Goldberg that he would like to read.
• We can't hear some of the letter because the crack production crew mutes the "Asshole" chants.
• From what we hear though, Goldberg isn't cut out to work in WCW for Russo, says the letter.
• The letter notes that Goldberg is not worthy and a loser.
• According to the note, Goldberg has no choice but to resign.
• The letter also says that Goldberg doesn't believe that he's a hero, and the kids should look up to Russo.
• Goldberg calls Russo his god at the end of the letter.
• Russo calls out Scott Steiner.
• We see the return of Midajah, who looks rather nice this evening.
• Blah blah, genetic freak, largest arms, etc.
• Steiner apologizes to the Goldberg fans because he wanted to beat him up, not make him resign.
• Loud "Goldberg sucks" chant from the Canadian crowd. Wrong place for this promo, WCW.
• Steiner gets a face pop when he announces his quest for the belt.
• Russo tells Steiner who invited him to get a title shot next week at the Nassau Coliseum.
• Jeff Jarrett comes out.
• Jarrett calls Russo and Steiner "slapasses."
• Jarrett says he deserves the title shot because Sting didn't beat him.
• Steiner says some unfriendly words and gets into Jarrett's face.
• Russo says only he decides who gets a title shot.
• Kevin Nash (w/ baseball cap) makes his way to the ring.
• Nash says he's getting the title shot.
• Nash tells Russo that the ex-champ gets the first title shot and says he was cheated last night.
• Russo talks about a tag team match in which whoever gets the pinfall gets the title shot next week.
• Russo puts Jarrett and Steiner on one side.
• Jarrett asks who Nash's partner is.
• Crowd is chanting "Hall" at this point.
• Russo talks about his dream to be WCW champion.
• Russo puts himself on Nash's team.
• Steiner yells as Russo walks away from the ring.
• Everyone in the ring looks very confused as we go to commercial.

• Douglas tells the "Canadian jackasses" never to doubt him.
• Douglas challenges any couple in the back to take the Pittsburgh Plunge.
• Out come Kwee-Wee and Paisley.
• Kwee ducks Douglas and mounts some offense in the corner.
• Kwee whips Douglas to the corner and hits a clothesline on the rebound for two.
• Kwee with a facedrop on the knee.
• Kwee goes to the ropes but Torrie "distracts" him.
• Kwee holds Torrie and mule kicks Douglas as he approaches.
• Kwee kisses Torrie on the lips.
• Paisley distracts Torrie as Kwee continues the offense.
• Douglas hits The Franchiser out of nowhere but lets up at two.
• Paisley verbally announces that she wants Torrie.
• Douglas drags Kwee-Wee to his corner and Paisley tags in.
• Douglas goes to tag Torrie... but fakes it and gives Paisley the Franchiser.
• Douglas gets the easy three-count but goes all King Kong Bundy and demands a five-count.
• Unfortunately, he didn't shove his hand in the ref's face and yell "FIIIIIVVVEEE!"
• In any case, Douglas gets the pin.
• YOUR WINNERS: The Franchise and Torrie Wilson via Franchiser in 2:10.
  

• After The Cat walks out, we see the Animals justifiably pissed at Disco in the back.
• Cat tells the Animals that if any of them interfere, they are suspended without pay for three months.
• Disqo (that's what it said on the chyron during his entrance) beans Cat with his duck.
• Disqo whips Cat to the corner.
• Cat rolls up Disqo and gets the pin.
• YOUR WINNER: The Cat via pinfall in 0:12.
• The Filthy Animals are stripped of the tag team titles as a result of the pinfall.
• Post-match, the Animals charge the ring and chase Disqo into the stands.
• Man, and I thought Disqo had it bad when he jobbed to Jacqueline all those years ago.
  

• This is pretty much the same segment that was shown at Fall Brawl.
• Funny segment nevertheless.

• Smooth addresses David Flair and says that he can find out who the father of Stacy's unborn kid is for the right price.
• David charges the ring with a crowbar but Smooth calms him down.
• Smooth brings out a videotape.
• Apparently, Kidman took pictures of the culprit.
• David pulls out a wad of cash and they trade.
• As Smooth counts the cash, David crowbars Smooth in the back and takes off.

• I guess Russo believes in some tradition, as the challenger comes out first for this title match.
• Schiavone addresses the boos from the crowd as Booker makes his entrance.
• They get into each other's face before the bell.
• Lock-up, Sting breaks clean in the corner.
• Booker with a headlock.
• They trade reversals and Booker goes back to the headlock.
• Sting turns it around and hits the ropes.
• Sting with a shoulderblock.
• Booker reverses a whip into a kneelift.
• Sting counters the axe kick with a clothesline.
• Sting slams Booker, goes to the ropes, tries the splash and hits nothing but knee.
• Booker whips Sting and misses a clothesline but connects with the Sidekick for two.
• Booker hits the axe kick for two.
• Sting blocks a suplex and tries the Deathdrop.
• Booker blocks but Sting turns it into an armbreaker.
• Booker walks into the corner and gets met with two Stinger Splashes.
• Scorpion Deathlock is applied.
• But, that would result in a clean ending for a televised world title match, and that's a no-no.
• So we get the Vince Russo Finish, as Jeff Jarrett runs in to ensure this ends as a clusterf**k.
• YOUR WINNER: Sting via DQ in 2:37.
• Booker helps Sting out, and Scott Steiner comes in.
• Jarrett and Steiner put submission moves (figure-four and Steiner Recliner) on the faces.
• Waaaay too compressed, screwjob or not.
  

• I don't know who Storm is facing tonight, but he needs to go over CLEAN in front of his home country.
• Storm says that Fall Brawl was good to Team Canada.
• Storm brings out Canadian Turncoat and former Toronto Argonaut "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.
• Duggan comes out clad in Canadian garb with a haircut and a shave.
• Duggan uses the "Americans treated me like a joke" excuse for his Canadian turn.
• Duggan talks about Goldberg's name being chanted after being injured by him.
• Duggan says he's in it for himself now.
• I think the last time Duggan was heel was during his stint in Bill Watts' Mid-South territory. Mark Madden clarifies this later in the match with the comment that Mid-South was based in Alberta.
• The Misfits In Action (called by Schiavone) charge the ring.
• Loud "U. S. Sucks" chant.
• Morrus clotheslines Skipper in the corner and makes the tag,
• Skipper gets whipped to the corner.
• Morrus splashes Skipper and uses himself as a springboard for Chavo and Lash crossbodies.
• Morrus covers and gets two when Storm saves.
• Storm gets in it with Chavo, allowing Skipper to get the upper hand.
• Tag to Duggan.
• Duggan rams Chavo into the turnbuckles.
• Duggan slams Chavo and hits the kneedrop.
• Tag to Skipper.
• Skipper with a belly-to-belly on Chavo.
• Skipper with a baseball slide dropkick on Wall outside.
• Skipper dives onto Wall but gets caught and slammed into a table.
• Back inside, Chavo and Skipper tag out to Morrus and Storm.
• Morrus with a German suplex and some words to Duggan.
• Duggan gets in, but Storm nails a side kick.
• The M. I. A. get into it with Team Canada but Duggan makes the save with the 2x4.
• Duggan covers Morrus and gets the win for his team.
• YOUR WINNERS: Team Canada via pinfall in 3:27.
• Post-match, Storm wraps a chair around Morrus' leg and Duggan nails it with the 2x4.
• Worked for me. Duggan is actually interesting now.
• But, that false retirement speech is gonna bite Duggan in the ass when it comes time to call it a day for real.
  

• Oh joy. I get to watch Kronic "wrestle."
• Wolfpac music brings out Kevin Nash and "Gang Green," as mentioned by Scott Hudson.
• Nash tells Kronic they're not in the same league as Steiner and Jarrett. Shoot comments are good sometimes.
• Nash asks the Thrillers for two volunteers to take on Kronic.
• Mike Sanders and Johnny Hugger get chosen.
• Sanders and Hugger charge the ring and get beat down.
• Reno hits the ring, as well as Chuck Palumbo.
• Palumbo gets some token offense, but Kronic refuses to sell.
• Palumbo gets High Times as a result.
• As the remaining NBT walk to the ring, Kronic's real opponents charge the ring with a pipe.
• Jarrett hits The Stroke and Steiner covers for the win.
• YOUR WINNERS: Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner via Stroke.
• I repeat — End the Naturally Heatless Thrillers project NOW. The entire group couldn't beat Tygress OR Kronic. It's over for them.
  

• Mark Madden talks about Vince Russo outsmarting Sting. Been there, done that, Madden.
• Apparently, there's going to be some swimsuit competition next week. * sigh *
• Awesome bitches about "The Awesome Lovemobile" being vandalized.
• Awesome challenges Vampiro to a hardcore match.
• Vampiro stalks out with a kendo stick.
• Awesome pounds on Vamp as he enters.
• Vamp pulls Awesome's jacket and shirt off and beats on him with a kendo stick.
• Awesome barely sells until he gets jabbed in the chest.
• Awesome with a shoulderblock off the ropes.
• Awesome catches Vamp on a Thesz Press and suplexes him.
• Awesome sends Vamp outside and nails an over-the-top-rope dive.
• Awesome with a trash can lid.
• And a kendo stick shot to the back.
• They go into the crowd.
• Vamp goes up on the lower balcony and hits an axehandle.
• WCW production edits out a "Holy Shit" chant. That's just lame.
• Vamp sends Awesome back into ringside area.
• Vamp whips Awesome into the rail.
• Awesome breaks a crutch over Vamp's back.
• And now THE COOKIE SHEET OF DEATH! gets Vamp in the face.
• Awesome brings a table into play.
• They go back inside, with Vamp cutting Awesome off up top.
• Awesome blocks a superplex by shoving Vamp off.
• Awesome hits a flying shoulderblock.
• Awesome goes for the Awesomebomb but Vamp breaks free.
• Vamp with a trash can shot on Awesome.
• Awesome comes off the ropes with a kneelift.
• Awesome with a kick to the netherregions.
• Awesome with an Awesomebomb on the table outside!
• The "Holy Shit" chant gets cut out as Awesome pins Vamp for the win!
• YOUR WINNER: Mike Awesome via Running Awesomebomb in 5:20.
• Other than the lame weapon spots, this was a pretty good brawl.
• This worked because unlike most Russo booking, it was simple — Heel pisses on Face, Face extracts revenge and gets the decisive victory. No need to get cute here.
• Why can't most angles be like this?
    

• I wonder if Russo will turn on Sting.
• I mean, Sting has such an excellent track record of picking reliable partners, so would Russo REALLY betray him?
• The heels enter separately.
• Sting comes out next.
• "Iron Man" brings out... Booker T.
• Too bad. Sting and Russo could have won the tag belts one day.
• Sting and Steiner go outside.
• Booker and Jarrett run the ropes, leading to a Booker dropkick.
• Sting slams Steiner on the table.
• In the ring, Sting gets a two-count on Steiner.
• Booker makes the save as the heels beat on Sting.
• Booker with a kick to Steiner.
• Sting puts the Deathlock on Jarrett.
• Booker goes for the Book-End but Midajah nails him with a pipe.
• Sting turns around and gets nailed from behind.
• Midajah goes for a pipe shot on Sting but Ms. Jones pulls Midajah out.
• It's a big catfight as the ladies retreat to the back.
• Booker floats over a corner charge and gets two on Jarrett.
• Jarrett tags Steiner.
• Steiner drops an elbow and gets two.
• Steiner with a boot to Booker's back.
• Steiner hits a belly-to-belly suplex.
• Steiner dumps Booker outside.
• Jarrett sends Booker to the rail.
• Sting goes outside to guard his partner.
• Back in, Steiner hits a backbreaker on Booker for two.
• Steiner lures Sting in so he can tag in Jarrett.
• Jarrett with a sleeperhold off the ropes.
• Jarrett brings Booker to the mat.
• Referee Mark Johnson checks the arm, with usual results.
• Booker breaks out and suplexes Jarrett.
• Steiner goes for a cheap shot.
• Jarrett tags Steiner in.
• Steiner with an exploder suplex for two.
• Steiner whips Booker to the ropes.
• Steiner ducks a roundhouse kick, and the two clothesline each other.
• Steiner holds Booker's leg to avoid the tag but it's futile.
• Sting comes in, with clotheslines and dropkicks for everyone.
• Booker hits the axe kick on Steiner.
• Sting and Jarrett head outside.
• Booker punches away in the corner.
• Kronic hits the aisle to beat on Jarrett.
• Steiner (w/ his face mask off) blatantly kicks Booker in the groin.
• Steiner puts on the Recliner.
• A "battered" Russo runs to the ring with a bat.
• Mark Johnson holds Russo back in the ring.
• Steiner pushes Johnson aside and beats Russo up.
• Booker nails Steiner in the face with Russo's bat.
• Booker puts Vince Russo on top of Steiner for the pin.
• YOUR WINNERS: Sting, Booker T and Vince Russo via pinfall in 9:09.
• Booker says he'll see Russo next week for the title match. I do not like where this is heading.
• Solid match otherwise.
