WCW Monday Nitro - October 23, 2000
WCW Monday Nitro - October 23, 2000
Little Rock, Arkansas
- Can you believe it? We're wheeling the old man old to do a report. Aldo got some last-minute tickets to a basketball game tonight, so I agreed to fill in. I'll save my lame-ass mid-week report for, well, mid week, so let's go right into the show...
- It should be noted that I just got back from the gym and showered about five minutes ago. So, I'm eating cold chili out of a can in order to do this report and not be eating dinner at 10:00 pm.
- WCW Logo.
- Highlights from Australia. "Suckas gots to know."
- Opening montage. Including the Demon!!!
- Stevie Ray, Tony Schiavone and Mark Madden are your announcers.
- We are LIVE from Little Rock, Arkansas.
- Opening montage.
- Match #1: The Perfect Event w/Kevin Nash vs. The Harris Brothers.
- After their entrance, Stasiak and Palumbo already aren't getting along in the ring before the match. Nash settles them down.
- Nash joins the announcers as the bell rings.
- Stasiak and Don Harris to start. Punches and neckbreaker by Stasiak to start.
- Don comes back with clotheslines. Palumbo in. Nash talks trash about Stasiak.
- Palumbo goes to work, gets some offense in, tries to tag in Stasiak who refuses. The Harrises go to work on Palumbo.
- Palumbo comes back with some offense, starts to argue with Stasiak, and Stasiak jumps off the apron onto the floor.
- Palumbo gets a little offense in on the Harrises, but they hit the H-Bomb and pin Palumbo while Stasiak is on the floor.
- YOUR WINNER: The Harris Brothers via pinfall in 2:46.
- Stasiak and Nash go in and Stasiak starts giving Nash lip. Nash, in an obvious pop culture reference, "does a Bobby Knight" and starts choking Stasiak. In case anyone doesn't notice the reference, Madden screams it over and over to force it down our throat.
- Nash stares down Stasiak, and Stasiak leaves.
- Nash puts on the headset, and says that Stasiak will be the recipient of some "tough love".
- Since when is Pat Patterson working for WCW?
- The match sucked, but it did advance the storyline.
- Pamela interviews WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Mike Sanders about his PPV match with the Cat. Sanders guarantees he will be the sole commissioner after the PPV. He's organized a three-round kickboxing match tonight against WCW's toughest talent.
- Gene Mean is in the ring, and he brings out WCW World Heavyweight Champion Booker T. Booker T says that he does it all for the fans....the traveling, the time away from his family...it's all for the fans. The interview is pretty dull, but at least it gives me a chance to eat my chili.
Interestingly enough, Booker T says that he respects Scott Steiner, but "as a man, he sucks". Booker T says that Scott Steiner will have to kill him to take the belt from him.
This, of course, brings out Big Poppa Pump and Midajah. Scott Steiner says that Booker T's mama is on welfare and is a street whore. Steiner also says he needs an ebonics handbook to understand Booker T. Steiner says that he's going to knock Booker T out at the PPV.
Booker T says they should go to it right now. With that, Booker T and Steiner brawl in the aisle, and Jarrett comes out and jumps Booker T. The threesome move to the ring, and Sting jumps in to even up the odds. The locker room empties to break it up. Mike Awesome, who has a title shot on Nitro following the PPV, gets some shots in on Steiner, setting up a sub-plot. Awesome and Steiner jaw at each other as we go to commercial.
- Hmmm, I'm drinking Red Hook Blonde Ale, so I won't be getting Bitter Beer Face.
- Moments ago, we saw what I typed above.
- Pamela interviews Steiner, who says that Awesome is "a lamb going to slaughter".
- Chili's done. Still have a quarter of my beer.
- Match #2: WCW World Cruiserweight Champion "Above Average" Mike Sanders vs. The Jung Dragons w/Leia Meow w/riding crop.
- Sanders comes out wearing his kickboxing gear.
- Sanders takes the mic and says he's from "Badstreet" and he says he's from the last house on the right.
- Sanders brings out some of the "toughest talent in WCW".
- Sanders puts some "water" on his gloves, which is either alcohol or ether.
- Jamie San starts off with some offense, but Sanders hits him with the wet glove.
- Jamie San is out. The ref does the three arm drops instead of counting to ten.
- The first round is over in 39 seconds.
- Yang comes in next. Same deal, except in 29 seconds.
- Kaz Hayashi is next.
- Kaz gets more offense, actually knocking Sanders' helmet off his head.
- Kaz with a flurry of kicks.
- Kaz slams Sanders' head into the turnbuckle, but Sanders gets Kaz with the glove.
- That round was approximately 30 seconds.
- YOUR WINNER: Mike Sanders via knockout in 0:39, 0:29, and ~0:30.
- Leia Meow hits a low kick on Sanders. He no-sells it, pulls out the cup he was wearing, and puts the alcohol/ether on it.
- Sanders threatens Leia with it.
- Miss Jones distracts Sanders.
- The Cat comes in and kicks Sanders from behind and knocks him out. The Cat and Miss Jones then dance.
- Is Miss Jones a complete no-talent, or is it just me that thinks that?
- Match #3: Kronik vs. 3-Count.
- Madden mentions the company being for sale.
- Adams takes the mic. He says the thing with Goldberg was originally business, now it's personal.
- Adams says Kronik has everything to lose at Halloween Havoc and nothing to gain. (Good point.)
- Clark takes the mic, and brings out the people that hired them to take out Goldberg (I think)...3-Count???!!!
- 3-Count talks trash, saying they are going to play all their songs uninterrupted tonight.
- Clark says they don't want to listen, and fisticuffs ensue.
- Squash. Karagias is pinned following the High Times.
- YOUR WINNER: Kronik via pinfall in 0:56.
- Nash is interviewed about Stasiak. Mostly, he makes vague references to Scott Hall being released, and then ends the interview by saying that his best friend Scott Hall got his walking papers two days before his (Hall's) birthday. Nash says that the Outsiders are not a work and they will ride again.
- Before anyone starts creaming in their jeans over this "shoot interview", I should note that none of these interviews are live. Even though you hear fans cheering, that's the fans cheering watching the taped interview just like we are. In fact, wrestlers that are "sweaty" in a post-match interview have wet themselves down in the bathroom in the middle of the afternoon to look sweaty.
- The Misfits In Action come out mocking Team Canada in a segment eerily reminiscent of the nWo Arn Anderson skit. Bottom line, Rection says that he'll be taking Storm's title, and the MIA will be getting Major Gunns back.
- Nash brings the Natural Born Thrillers to the ring and gives another "shoot interview" about Scott Hall. Nash gets on Stasiak, and says that Stasiak doesn't want to be part of the team, Stasiak now stands alone. With that, Goldberg's music hits, and the Natural Born Thrillers step out of the ring.
- Match #4: Goldberg vs. Shawn Stasiak
- Goldberg gets his usual police escort. We watch his entire trek from his dressing room.
- Fireworks.
- Stasiak with punches to start, and Stasiak bounces off Goldberg with a back elbow.
- Stasiak thinks Goldberg is down and turns around only to get speared.
- Jackhammer. Splat. Pin.
- YOUR WINNER: Goldberg via pinfall in 0:40.
- Goldberg is now 12-0.
- Goldberg gets a mike and says he'll drive both of Kronik's asses into the mat.
- Beer's done.
- Match #5: Alex Wright w/Disqo Inferno vs. Mark Jindrak w/Sean O'Haire vs. Kidman w/Rey Misterio Jr. and Tygress in a three-way dance
- A three-way dance for the WCW World Tag Team Title has been set up for Halloween Havoc: Jindrak and O'Haire (champs), Boogie Knights, and Misterio and Kidman.
- Disqo's got a mic. Disqo says everyone wants to know "Who let the dogs out, and who knows where they at?"
- Kidman and Alex Wright go to work on Jindrak.
- Jindrak and Wright go to work on Kidman.
- Kidman is down and Wright attacks Jindrak. Kidman attacks Wright, Jindrak attacks Kidman, ahhh...to hell with it, I can't track this move for move.
- They spill outside, and from the floor, Wright and Jindrak super biel Kidman into the ring.
- Kidman hits the Kid Krusher on Wright, and Kidman gets the pin.
- YOUR WINNER: Kidman via pinfall in 2:40.
- Six-way brawl in the ring after the match, and when all is said and done, Kidman and Misterio rule the ring.
- Pamela interviews Crowbar. Crowbar acts like a stud, and Jimmy Hart comes running out to tell Crowbar that he's booked in a match.
- Match #6: Crowbar vs. Vampiro
- Crowbar gets the first entrance, and during Vampiro's entrance, Crowbar does pratfalls in the ring.
- Crowbar goes to attack Vampiro in the aisle, and Vampiro starts wailing on Crowbar with nunchucks.
- After a little bit of that, Vampiro tosses the nunchucks to David Penzer, and Crowbar goes on the attack, still outside the ring.
- Punches traded.
- Low blow from Vampiro, and Crowbar is tossed into the safety rail.
- Vampiro mugs for the fans.
- More punches traded, and Vampiro gets tossed into the railing and both men go into the ring.
- Vampiro unloads with punches to the back of the head inside the ring.
- The announcers keep hyping that Vampiro is acting like a man with a vendetta.
- Punch, punch, punch.
- ((Punch by Vampiro + Chop by Crowbar) * 3) + (Chop by Crowbar * 2)
- Crowbar grabs the leg, but Vampiro hits an awesome spinning back kick.
- Wow...headlock by Vampiro, but Crowbar crotch drops Vampiro on the top rope.
- Chop by Crowbar and baseball slide.
- Crowbar gets some shots in outside the ring, throws Vampiro into the safety , then he hits a splash onto the floor.
- Crowbar then goes for the sustained fingers in the eyes. Man, I love that move. You just don't see enough of it.
- Crowbar facejams Vampiro onto a chair.
- Crowbar slams Vampiro into the rail.
- Crowbar with a gourdbuster onto the steel ring steps! Ouch.
- Crowbar goes back to the eyes and he chucks Vampiro into the rail. Vampiro's knee may be hurt from the gourdbuster.

- Chair to the head by Crowbar.
- Crowbar lays the chair across Vampiro's face and hits a guillotine over the top rope.
- They go out to the entranceway, and they trade punches.
- They brawl over to the cages on the stage where the Nitro Girls dance.
- Crowbar is whipped into one of them.
- Two druids bring out two stacked tables and put them in front of the stage while the two men continue fighting.
- Crowbar slams Vampiro with the cage door and then chokes him with it.
- Crowbar attempts to suplex Vampiro onto the two tables but the Druids stop him by grabbing his feet. By the way, this is all going on right in front of DJ Ran. They are definitely up in his area.
- Crowbar punches one of the Druids and, while he is distracted, Vampiro grabs Crowbar by the throat "as only a vampire can". (Per Schiavone)
- Vampiro chokeslams Crowbar through the two tables. Schiavone screams "My God, My God!!!" like he's watching an orphanage burn down.
- Charles Robinson checks on Crowbar and rules him unable to continue.
- YOUR WINNER: Vampiro via his opponent being ruled unable to continue in 9:50.
- Awesome! Definitely a spotfest, but still a great match.
- And, speaking of awesome, Vampiro gets on the mike after the match. Vampiro says that Crowbar's blood is on Mike Awesome's hands. Vampiro plays the tape of Awesome giving Vampiro the powerbomb onto two tables from the ring onto the floor. Vampiro says he'll see Awesome in Vegas.
- Crowbar is loaded onto a stretcher.
- Damn, I wish this match had a better build-up to it.
- Oddly enough, at 9:20 we get like seven straight minutes of commercials. Did it occur to anyone else to switch to RAW?
- Match #7: Konnan w/Tygress vs. Shane Douglas w/Torrie Wilson
- Konnan does his catchphrases and calls out Shane Douglas to "do it right now".
- Douglas comes out with his right arm in a cast and a sling.
- Douglas says he can't wrestle, as he has an injury that would put most men out of this sport.
- Douglas says that Torrie is on medication because she's so nervous about the injury.
- Konnan says that Torrie's problem is that she needs a "facial". Yowzah!!!!
- Douglas talks trash to "Carlos" (Konnan's real name).
- Konnan shoves Douglas into the corner and says that Douglas gets away with it tonight because "Coach" (trainer Danny Young) says the injury is legitimate.
- When Konnan turns his back, Douglas attempts to clothesline him from behind, but Konnan ducks.
- Konnan proceeds to methodically take apart the one-armed Shane Douglas.
- Konnan gets Douglas in a submission hold, and it looks like Douglas taps out with his foot, but the match goes on.
- Konnan continues to take Douglas apart, including a stint outside the ring, and Konnan specifically targets the bad arm.
- When Douglas is just about done, Torrie slips him the chain.
- Douglas wraps it around his left hand, and nails Konnan a couple times with it.
- Shane Douglas hits the Franchiser and pins Konnan.
- YOUR WINNER: Shane Douglas via pinfall in 2:08.

- Steiner reverses a whip, Midajah grabs Awesome's leg, and Steiner clubs him in the back.
- Reverse atomic drop by Steiner, and Midajah comes into the ring and kicks Awesome in full view of the referee. * sigh *

- Outside the ring, Steiner slams Awesome with a chair and tosses Awesome back into the ring.
- Steiner with a clothesline and elbowdrop. Two-count only, and muted obscenities by Steiner.

- Madden claims the Samoan Drop was for Yokozuna. Somehow, I imagine that Steiner doesn't give a crap about Yokozuna.
- Steiner threatens the referee and locks in the Steiner Recliner to make Awesome submit.
- YOUR WINNER: Scott Steiner via submission in 5:41.
- We cut to Booker T's face watching the carnage, and we fade out.
- The Good: The Crowbar/Vampiro match.
- The Bad: "Fallaway slam". He's got to be doing that just to bug us.
- The Ugly: Watching five minutes of Bull after Nitro. If I heard "IPO" or "millionaire" one more time, I would have puked.
