WCW Monday Nitro - December 4, 2000
WCW Monday Nitro - December 4, 2000
- No mailbag this week, sorry. If it's any consolation, Chris S. sent me a link to an interview with former Nitro Girl Fyre. Just click on the obvious picture after hitting the link. If the picture is gone by the time you read this, click on Archives, then Issue #91 and you should be able to get to the interview from there.
- Nitro comes to you LIVE from Lincoln, Nebraska. Some Cornhusker fan is cheering until he gets bashed in the noggin by Jeff Jarrett.
- We see clips from Mayhem followed by happenings from last week's shows.
- The Natural Born Thrillers talk strategy. Mike Sanders talks to... oh God... Oklahoma. * sigh * Apparently, Sanders wants Oklahoma to give a speech.
- Was there ANYONE out there in TV land that wanted to see the return of Fat Eddie?
- After some commercials, we get the opening Nitro montage.
- Shitty Fight Music brings out Fat Eddie.
- The crowd is rightly booing this fool.
- Fat Eddie: "My name is Oklahoma." I think Fat F*** sounds more appropriate.
- Tony Schiavone claims Eddie "has only six minutes for this segment."
- Fat Eddie stalls for a minute and gives a howdy from the Oklahoma college football team.
- Fat Eddie holds up a bowl.
- Fat Eddie says the bowl he is holding is the closest anyone in Nebraska will get to a bowl.
- Fat Eddie is drawing lots of boos. I wonder if its "you're a mean person" heat or "get the f*** off my screen" heat.
- Fat Eddie runs down Sid Vicious.
- The WCW production staff blocks out an "Asshole" chant.
- Fat Eddie says if Sid gets out of line, security will be on him like white on rice.
- "Theme From Skyscrapers" brings out Sid Vicious.
- Fat Eddie calls for security as Sid stalks toward the ring.
- Actually, this would be cool if Sid came out with scissors.
- Sid grabs Oklahoma from behind and rightly chokeslams Fat Eddie.
- I think I have a new found respect for Sid. :-)
- Mike Sanders and some police come out, as Sanders tells Sid he is going to jail.
- Cops handcuff Sid and lead him away from the ring.
- Sanders tries to goad the crowd into saying "You Suck."
- That ran slightly longer than six minutes, by the way.
- Scott Steiner tells Mike Sanders to get Sid for him. Sanders claims that "Mr. C. E. O." Ric Flair had Sid arrested not long ago. Steiner goes nuts.
- Pamela interviews The Filthy Animals. Konnan and Kidman cut a nice promo on the Harris Brothers.
- Last Wednesday, Torrie was injured at the hands of Hugh Morrus. Supposedly, she's being written out of storylines. Chavo, Jr. also defected from the M. I. A.
- Match #1: Chavo Guerrero, Jr. vs. Kwee-Wee (w/ Paisley)
- Apparently, Chavo is allowed to use his own name and music again.
- That is a good thing, by the way.
- Chavo will be facing Kwee-Wee.
- Chavo pounds Kwee after the kiss.
- Chavo with European uppercuts and chops in the corner.
- Kwee tries to turn it around but no luck.
- Snapmare and a kick to the back by Chavo.

- Kwee-Wee with a Thesz Press and some punches.
- The referee breaks it up, allowing a low punch by Chavo.
- Chavo with a lariat.
- Kicks in the corner.
- Chavo applies a boot choke. Cheat To Win!
- Chavo whips Kwee, who nails a kneelift and dropkick on the rudo.
- Kwee with a tilt-a-whirl flapjack for two.
- Chavo with a floatover DDT but he rolls out to yell at Paisley.
- Chavo grabs a chair and threatens Paisley.
- Chavo goes inside but Paisley grabs the chair, allowing Kwee to hit a springboard sunset flip for two.
- Chavo dumps Kwee-Wee and follows outside.
- Chavo with a LOUD chop.
- They go back inside, and Kwee floats out of a slam, then picks up Chavo and slams him chest-first.
- Kwee-Wee tries a corner charge, but Chavo lifts him into the turnbuckle head-first.
- This allows Chavo to apply a brainbuster for the clean win!
- YOUR WINNER: Chavo Guerrero, Jr. via brainbuster in 3:56.
¼
- Ric Flair and Mike Sanders go over Scott Steiner's threats. Ric yells at Sanders for putting Sid in jail. Ric plans to beef up security tonight.
- Bryan Clarke speaks to an unnamed customer on a cell phone.
- Mean Gene interviews a Chavo-less Misfits In Action. Hugh Morrus reiterates that the Torrie incident was an accident. Morrus blows off the Chavo issue for now and puts over his world title shot against Scott Steiner tonight.
- Match #2: Elix Skipper vs. WCW Hardcore Champion Crowbar (w/ Daffney)
- Team Canada makes their way out, with Lance Storm in street clothes.
- This is for the Hardcore title, and I read somewhere that Skipper faces Crowbar.
- Lance Storm reiterates this in his spiel.
- Storm wants WCW crew members to remove the American hardware.
- The Cat and Ms. Jones make their way out.
- Storm joins the commentary team, as does George and Weezie.

- Crowbar goes outside, where Duggan and Major Gunns beat him up.
- Daffney tackles Gunns and they "catfight."
- Storm and The Cat get into it for some reason.
- Meanwhile, Duggan (accidentally?) wipes out Storm, and Cat wipes him out.
- In the ring, Crowbar hits the Mindbender for the win.
- YOUR WINNER: Crowbar via Mindbender in 2:16.
- Much like Madden's face after Thanksgiving dinner, this was one big mess.
- Jimmy Hart gets another segment. I wish THIS GUY would get lost in the Island of Forgotten Angles.
- David Flair and Stacy Keibler talk backstage. Daddy Ric comes into the scene to warn his son. Ric orders security to remove David and Stacy.
- Reno and Marie talk in another section of backstage in a heart wrenching segment. Okay, I lied about the last two words.
- Epic music brings out Lex Luger.
- Luger brings out a copy of Goldberg's new book.
- Much like in 1987, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1996 and 1999, Luger thanks the crowd as they chant for Goldberg.
- Luger says there is only thirteen days left in Goldberg's career unless he can win 150 matches in that time.
- Luger namedrops Dwayne Bruce, aka Sarge (Buddy Lee Parker) from the Power Plant and has him stand up for a light ovation.
- Madden: "I thought I saw him on a Lucky Charms box once." For those that don't get the reference, Sarge portrayed a wrestler known as The Leprechaun.
- Luger offers to read a passage from Goldberg's book that talks about Sarge.
- Sarge looks pissed off at his seat. This would be more effective if his kid next to him wasn't laughing.
- Luger runs down Sarge, and he stands up in notice.
- Luger is REALLY rambling here.
- Security surrounds The Sarge as Luger keeps talking and talking. Meanwhile, Sarge's kid's face is just red from laughter at this point.
- If this was supposed to get Luger over as a villain, it failed.
- Goldberg has arrived.
- Norman Smiley (!!!) speaks to a Nitro Girl about his match with Goldberg. Scott Steiner pops in and delivers some pipe shots to Smiley after hearing about his match.

- Match #3: Two Count vs. WCW World Tag Team Champions Diamond Dallas Page and Kevin Nash
- 2 Count make their way out for this tag team title match.
- 2 Count do some mic work, and "Self Hi Five" interrupts.
- Why do the tag champs get separate entrances?
- In any case, don't expect the challengers to win here.
- Nash and Shannon Moore start off.
- They go for a test-of-strength, but Moore can't reach.
- This leads to a knee to the gut and an elbow to the back of Moore's head.
- Into the corner for The Big Lazy Usual Offense.
- Nash and DDP are so over that the crowd chants "We Want Hall."
- Big-ass biel by Nash. That was nice, I'll give him that.

- DDP gives the Diamond Cutter to Helms and drags him onto a prone Moore.
- Nash covers both men for the win.
- YOUR WINNERS: DDP and Kevin Nash via pinfall in 4:33.
- I so did not need to see that outcome. Nash sold NOTHING, by the way.
- Post-match, Sanders, Palumbo and Stasiak make their way out.
- Sanders runs down Nash and DDP then calls out Ric Flair.
- Ric yells at Sanders.
- Sanders brings up something at Mayhem that we did not see.
- We go to the TurnerTron and a clip from Mayhem appears.
- We see a ref argue with Kevin Nash.
- Apparently, Chuck Palumbo was the legal man, but Shawn Stasiak was the man that Nash pinned.
- Ric says he already knew about the situation.
- Ric asks the tag champs to give the belts back to Sanders in promise for something big in the future.
- The crowd boos as the champs drop the belts in the ring.
- Ric tells Sanders to enter the ring to get the belts.
- Ric says that Sanders can have the belts but have to face The Insiders in YET ANOTHER REMATCH FROM MAYHEM.
- Whatever happened to, y'know, booking fresh matches for pay-per-view events? For the biggest PPV of the year, that's what, the third rematch on the card?
- The Insiders kick the belts to Sanders.
- DDP rants at the heels to finish.
- Bam Bam Bigelow walks out of an ambulance and punks out Mike Awesome.
- Match #4: Reno vs. ?????
- Reno comes out for a singles match against...
- Kronik?
- Looks like it's a handicap match.
- And it ends quick with a full-nelson slam and a High Times.
- But, referee Jamie Tucker throws the match out 27 seconds in.
- Marie looks worried as she views the carnage on the monitor and runs off.
- Another High Times, in case Reno didn't feel the first one.
- Big Vito charges the ring and Kronik bails.
- Marie enters the ring and tends to Reno. Must be cold in that arena.
- Vito ignores Marie and Reno by walking off.
- If this keeps up, Charles Nelson Reilly is going to sue me for using his image so much.
- Our world is about to change... again! Scott Hudson actually puts Glacier over this time.
- Crowbar and Daffney chitchat until he walks off with a couple women. Say, this was better a few months ago, when the two were in reversed roles.
- Ric Flair gives instructions to backstage personnel about Scott Steiner.
- The Goldberg/Lex Luger match at Starrcade is now no-DQ.
- We go to The Maury Show, where Goldberg gives a replica WCW belt to a little kid.
- Match #5: M. I. Smooth vs. Goldberg
- M. I. Smooth comes out in dress clothes.
- And he's next.
- At least it isn't Smiley getting squashed.
- Big staredown leads to some punches by Smooth, which Goldberg no-sells.
- Goldberg tries a corner charge but runs into a shoulderblock.
- Smooth charges into a big boot.
- Spear. Jackhammer. Splat. Pin.
- YOUR WINNER: Goldberg via Jackhammer in 0:49.
- Goldberg embraces the Sarge after the match.
- That is four DUD's in a row. You're watching BULL!
- Scott Steiner works out and makes threats to Ric Flair. That's one man I don't want to piss off.
- Match #6: Jeff Jarrett vs. Konnan (w/ The Filthy Animals)
- Jeff Jarrett comes out, giving me hope that we'll actually have a good match tonight.
- Jeff runs down the crowd.
- Jeff mentions Konnan calling the Harris Brothers hillbillies. Well, they WERE brawling mountain men about five years ago.

- Konnan floats over a charge, kicks Jarrett and gives him a DDT.
- Seated dropkick.
- Double-clothesline off the ropes.
- Jarrett rolls out claiming he blew out his knee, which is just a ruse for the Harris Brothers to give Konnan the H-Bomb.
- As the Animals run out to combat the Harrises, Jarrett gives Konnan The Stroke for the win.
- YOUR WINNER: Jeff Jarrett via Stroke in 2:43.
- Lovely to see the former WCW World Champion needing help to defeat midcarders. And WCW wonders why no one is drawing.
- On the bright side, this match isn't a DUD.
- Your main event is next! (At 9:35 P. M. EST)
- Match #7: WCW World Heavyweight Champion Scott Steiner (w/ Midajah) vs. WCW United States Champion Hugh Morrus
- Champion enters first for some reason.
- Madden gives Steiner his usual version of J. R.'s BJotW.
- Steiner tells Ric Flair that he's running out of wrestlers.
- Steiner says Ric has until the end of this match to produce Sid Vicious in the ring.
- Otherwise, Steiner is going after Ric.
- Ric watches on a monitor then leaves his seat.
- Morrus comes out solo. Morrus' belt is not on the line.
- Steiner attacks Morrus upon entry.
- Steiner whips Morrus, and the two trade shoulderblocks.
- Morrus runs over Steiner thrice.
- Another clothesline by Morrus.
- Steiner whips Morrus to the corner.
- Morrus leaps to the apron and nails a right, then goes up top and hits a flying clothesline. Not bad for a guy over 300 pounds.
- Steiner rolls outside to regroup.
- Lockup, Steiner with a kneelift.
- Morrus wiggles out of a slam and gets one of his own.
- Midajah goes up top and goes piggyback on Morrus.

- YOUR WINNER: Scott Steiner via Steiner Recliner in 8:40.
- Boring match, but bonus points for the clean finish. Morrus looked great but Steiner mailed it in.

- Post-match, Douglas assaults Morrus with a chain.
3/4
- Backstage, Steiner beats up Arn Anderson and brings him to the entryway.

- Recliner on Arn, who sells it like a pro.
- Ric Flair tries to hit ringside but Fit Finlay stops him.
- Goldberg manages to run on by and towards the ring.
- But Luger stops Goldberg with some chairshots.
- Security makes their way out as Luger gets his last shots on Goldberg.
- During all of this, Sid Vicious hit the ring and security separates him and Steiner.
- Whoever thought SID would make the save on ARN ANDERSON?
- The show fades seven minutes early as Steiner pounds on Sid.
- Now THAT was a hot segment.
- One last Starrcade promo.
- The Good: Nice extracurricular activities (which started AFTER THE MATCH!) which built the issues greatly to Starrcade and gave the fans a reason to care about Steiner/Sid and Goldberg/Luger. Cheat-To-Win Chavo can only lead to good things. Chavo needs the shirt, though.
- The Bad: Too bad the rest of the show was sleep-inducing. WCW did better with the clean finishes, but I have to point out the Parade O' Duds that plagued sixty minutes of this show.
- The Ugly: The burying of Two Count by the (former) tag champions. And WCW wonders why no one takes their undercarders seriously.
