WCW Thunder - December 13th, 2000
WCW Thunder - December 13th, 2000
-
I'm back!
Bill will have an announcement tomorrow about the Thunder line-up, but a sneak preview of it is that hopefully you'll be seeing me a little more often.
Anyhow, on with the show.
- Recaps of what went down on
Monday Tuesday.
- Commissioner Mike Sanders is in his office.
- He says he did promise Sarge a shot at Lex Luger tonight on Thunder.
- Also, he says he forgot to take care of the Cruiserweight Champion, Chavo Guerrero Jr.
- He says tonight, Chavo will take on Perfect Event. If Chavo can't find a partner, it will be a handicap match.
- Meanwhile, CEO Ric Flair watches Sanders announcement on a monitor.
- He says he likes what Sanders has planned, he just wants to add some things.
- First, Lance Storm must sing the National Anthem tonight.
- Second, things didn't work out for him keeping Sid and Steiner apart on Nitro, so tonight, if they want to go at it, that's fine.
- Third, Sanders must wrestle tonight. He's going to face DDP.
- And we are TAPED from Bossier City, LA!
- Match 1: Evan Karagias and Jamie Noble vs. 3 Count vs. the Jung Dragons
- We begin with Evan Karagias and Jamie Noble already in the ring.
- Ugh... Konnan is doing color commentary tonight..
- Out comes 3 Count, I guess we get a match to start.
- No complaints here.
- 3 Count takes the advantage on Noble and Karagias with a combination Samoan drop/neckbreaker.
- The Jung Dragons finally come down to the ring.
- The Jung Dragons run to the ring and slide under 3 Count.
- Stereo inverted atomic drops by the Dragons.
- Spinning thigh kicks by the Dragons.
- Karagias re-enters the ring with a spring board clothesline.
- Evan with a neckbreaker on Yang.
- Helms enters the ring and gets double-teamed by Noble and Karagias.
- Helms ducks a clothesline attempt by Noble and Karagias, who run into each other.
- Helms with a superkick on Noble, tag to Moore.
- Moore goes for his sleeper-hold/neckbreaker, but Noble counters with a belly to back suplex.
- Both men down.
- Tag to Helms, Noble tags Kaz.
- Konnan brings up Shannon Moore beginning his wrestling career wrestling on trampolines and video taping it, then selling the tapes at a local video store.
- Which, if I'm not mistaken, is how Moore first met Matt and Jeff Hardy.
- With this being a WCW show, obviously they don't mention that it was the Hardy Boyz trampoline fed.
- But I'm rambling, so back to the show.
- Kaz with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker on Helms.
- Noble with a sun-set flip on Kaz, who rolls through and kicks him in the side of the head.
- Evan in, Kaz takes him down with a spin kick.
- Outside, Yang gets a ladder from beneath the ring.
- Inside, Helms hits something I can't describe, so I'll give you a couple pictures and let your imagination do the rest.
- Helms knocks Yang off the apron and flies outside with a senton flip.
- Inside, Moore hits Noble with the ladder, trapping him in the corner.
- Moore runs up the ladder and hits Noble with whatever this is called.
- I feel like Schiavone today.
- Moore knees Karagias in the gut and hits a Rocker Dropper.
- Which Tenay says Moore calls the "Bottom's Up".
- Moore sets up the ladder in the corner.
- Noble crotches him on the turnbuckle and Karagias joins Noble on top of the ladder for a superplex.
- Noble goes for a cover, but Karagias pulls him off and steals the pinfall.
- Your Winner: Evan Karagias and Jamie Noble via pinfall
- Post match, a shoving match ensues between Noble and Karagias.
- Great match, it set-up the Starrcade ladder match nicely.
- Backstage, Kwee-Wee and Paisley are planning on how to decorate a 4-wheeler.
- Kwee-Wee says it needs more pink.
- Paisley says only a real tough guy can like pink so much.
- Which brings in Midajah to laugh at them.
- Kwee-Wee shoves Midajah away from Paisley, which brings in Steiner to beat the hell out of Kwee-Wee.
- Which brings us to Schiavone, who shills some contest where you can win an ATV.
- Hopefully the one you win won't be decorated by Kwee-Wee.
- Anyhow, log-on somewhere or another to enter to win it.
- Backstage, Ric Flair tells Lance Storm he wants him to sing the American National Anthem tonight.
- Storm says he would, but he doesn't know the words and doesn't have time to learn them.
- Duggan immediately offers to teach Lance the words and begins to sing..
- Bless the man who invented the mute button.
- Lance and Skipper aren't too happy with Duggan.
- Match 2: WCW Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero Jr. and ???? vs. WCW Tag Team Champions The (Not So) Perfect Event
- Nevermind, Chavo doesn't have a partner.
- Crowd with a nice "Chavo" chant.
- Stasiak and Chavo to start, Chavo out-wrestles Stasiak until Palumbo pulls down the rope, causing Chavo to fall outside.
- Backstage, the M.I.A. watch the match on a monitor.
- Outside, Palumbo beats on Chavo and sends him back inside, where Stasiak tags Palumbo.
- Palumbo stomps on Chavo, while backstage, Lash LeRoux gets up to go help Chavo, but Hugh Morrus tells him not to.
- Palumbo with a vertical suplex, but Chavo flips out of it and runs at the ropes, throwing himself, twisting in mid-air, at Palumbo.
- Konnan calls it a variation of a neck-breaker.
- Usually when the announcers call something a variation of something, it translates into "botched spot".
- Perfect Event double-teams Chavo, who lands a couple drop-kicks until Palumbo connects with a Jungle Kick.
- Crowd chants "Chavo" again.
- Stasiak powerbombs Chavo, but only gets a 2 count.
- Chavo's getting in a lot more offense then I expected.
- Chavo with a cross body block on Stasiak, then a school boy on Palumbo for 2.
- Stasiak grabs Chavo in a bear hug, Palumbo drop-kicks Chavo in the back.
- Stasiak goes for a cover, but pulls Chavo up at 2.
- Backstage, LeRoux again begs Morrus to let him go help Chavo, but Hugh refuses.
- Perfect Event hits Chavo with a double-pancake to finish things off.
- Your Winner: The Perfect Event via pinfall
- Decent enough, it built Chavo up, but Perfect Event had to go over to remain a threat to Nash and DDP at Starrcade.
- The announcers talk to Sid on the phone.
- Sid says he's 10 minutes away from the building and he tells the announcers not to let Steiner leave.

- Duggan: "Oh say can you see..."
- Storm: "Who's José? I thought this was the American National Anthem?"
- Storm insists he can't do it.
- Also, also, also backstage, Luger sits and reads a magazine.
- He turns a page and yawns.
- And so do I.
- Recap of the Steiner/Sid feud.
- Plug for Goldberg's appearance on The Man Show on December 17th.
- Backstage, Meng asks Ric Flair for a match with Steiner tonight.
- Flair agrees and we have a World Title match tonight.
- Lance Storm and Team Canada make their way to the ring.
- Storm says he is a man of his word, but asks if Cat would do the same.
- He tells them to play the American National Anthem.
- The Cat and Ms. Jones come out with chairs to sit and listen to them sing.
- Why is Storm feuding with an utter no-talent like The Cat?
- Storm begins to sing, getting lost after the first line.
- Storm: "Oh say can you see? By the dawn's early light. Blah, blah, blah."
- Heh, that's pretty good.
- Cat interrupts and says he wants it sung correctly.
- Storm starts over and completely gets the words wrong.
- Cat says he knows Duggan knows the words and wants Duggan to sing it.
- Duggan is glad to and proceeds to butcher it with horrible singing.
- Cat gets on the apron and throws something at Storm.
- Storm says that's enough and if Cat wants a fight, he can fight Duggan.
- We get that match when we come back from commercial.
- Match 3: The Cat (W/Ms. Jones) vs. Jim Duggan (W/Team Canada)
- Who did I piss off to deserve a Duggan/Cat match?
- Time to dust off the old Long Story Short coverage.
- Some form of a match, the only thing of note is every time Team Canada interferes, Duggan pushes them away and doesn't want their help.

- Luger cracks Sarge in the head and goes inside for the Torture Rack.
- Sarge is out, so Luger wins.
- Your Winner: Lex Luger via knock-out
- Luger grabs a mic after the match and taunts Sarge and Goldberg.
- Luger kicks Sarge around and throws him out of the ring.
- Luger seems entirely too winded for a 2-minute match with little effort on his part.
- Backstage, Luger leaves the arena.
- Also backstage, DDP is getting warmed up for his match.
- He says lately, Sanders has had a lot to say about his age.

- Vito says if Kronik wants, they can settle things tonight.
- Also, also, also backstage, medics tend to Sarge, who hurt his ribs.

- She says he needs to get rid of the 70s gear, get some ripped jeans, maybe some grease on him.

- This is tough to follow, we keep looking at the announce table where officials are helping Konnan to the back.

The Good: The opening match was really good. Only one match ended in a DQ. Sid's fight with Steiner was kept until after Steiner cleanly defeated Meng. All in all, a pretty good show.
The Bad: The interview with Douglas was pretty pointless. I'd rather not have Jim Duggan or The Cat on my wrestling program, thank you very much.
The Ugly: Jim Duggan's singing. *Shudders*
