Trivia Question: What professional sport did Dusty Rhodes play before he got into professional wrestling? (answer at the end of the report)
The mailbag:
- As a result of my comments on Luchadores last week, Devin, hailing from Clover, SC writes:
  You have got to watch Luchadores. I have a 7-year-old and saw it the other day. It is a trip. Absolutely hilarious and terrible at the same time. I think it will become a cult hit. The dog is amazing, the wrestling is god-awful.
  I hope Silver King makes a cameo one day. I miss him dearly.
- On the subject of Hulk Hogan playing bass for Metallica, Mike S. writes:
  Just a follow up to the report about Hogan (allegedly) playing bass for Metallica. Metallica released a statement recently stating that bassist Jason Newsted has left the band. No mention of the Hulkster as a replacement but the door is open.

- Charlie, of the legendary Chan & Charlie, had a brush with greatness:
  I've got a Dusty sighting for you. The American Dream will be in Maryville, TN tonight for a stop on his "Last Stampede Tour." He made a stop at work today, Channel 6, for an interview to be aired later this evening. I went into the lobby to tell our Assignments Editor, Joey, that I was back and give him the tape... and lo and behold, there was the Dream himself. I got to meet him which was cool and all, but the best was about to come.
  As he was walking out the front door, he tried to pull the door open. He called for his driver, "Could thomebody help meee wiyath this doooooor?" Joey said, "Push Dusty." Dusty tried and Joey told him to push again. Dusty responded with, "I don't wanna break the doooooor!" About the time he said that, the door opened and when the wind caught it Dusty left with a "Whoa! The wind ith gonna' rip off the dooooor!"
  Cool, huh!?!
I got a couple of responses on my Lisa Sliwa inquiry. A number of readers noted that the Sliwa name might have come up in the angle where Ray Traylor became a Guardian Angel, although was definitely sure she was involved. However, even if she was, it would have been a good seven to ten years after her debut.
Someone else has a photo of her with Sgt. Slaughter in an old wrestling magazine.
Another e-mail said that Lisa Sliwa was under the mask as The Spider Lady until the night that Fabulous Moolah was under the mask as The Spider Lady. However, I am just about 100% sure that's not the case.
Another e-mail said that she wrestled at least one other time for the WWF. It was again in Poughkeepsie NY at Mid-Hudson Civic Center, this time on May 12, 1986. It was a Championship Wrestling taping and she wrestled Velvet McIntyre.
It seems that the "Steiner Driver" that Rick Steiner is now using is a renamed Death Valley Driver, a.k.a. Spicolli Driver. I've read a few people asking if the Steiner Driver used to be something else.
I don't think so. However, there was such a thing as a "Steiner Screwdriver" a couple of years ago. Right before the Steiner Brothers broke up the first time, when they worked as a team, Scott Steiner had a vicious finisher called the Steiner Screwdriver. It was basically a tombstone piledriver, except instead of starting the move with your opponent's head at your crotch like most people do, you start with their head at the level of your sternum and send them sailing down to the mat. Ouch!
There has been a lot of commentary about the fact that there was a blurb on Chris Jericho's website that was a message to Goldberg saying something to the effect of "Looking forward to working with you in the WWF, buddy..." People are theorizing that it might be evidence of WWF negotiating with Goldberg, or an invitation to Goldberg to call Vince McMahon.
Actually, I think it's a jab by Jericho at Goldberg. Supposedly, one of the things that really pissed Jericho off before he left WCW was Goldberg's refusal to work a program with him, as Goldberg felt that Jericho "wasn't worthy".
