WCW Thunder - Wednesday, March 7th, 2001
- Short recap this time, I'm short on time this week. Let's get to it..
- Recap of what happened on Nitro.
- Opening footage and we are taped from Greenville, SC!
- We get some extra footage from Monday of Scott Steiner beating up DDP
backstage.
- Cat makes the save and helps DDP get away.
- Match 1: Scotty O and Jason B vs. 3 Count
- Evan and Jason start.
- Back and forth, Jason hits a headstand back elbow.
- Evan tags Shannon in.
- Jason goes for a powerbomb, Moore with an arm drag to counter.
- Scotty tags in.
- Scotty misses a moonsault.
- Moore tags Evan, who hits a powerslam.
- Evan tags Moore.
- We get the customary "everybody dive outside" cruiserweight spot.
- Back inside, Scotty puts Evan up in a Fireman's carry position and drops
his face into the mat for 2.
- Moore with a Bottom's Up for 2.
- Jason with a reverse tombstone for 2.
- Shannon and Evan connect with a double team Bottom's Up to pick up the
win and advance in the tournament.
- Your Winner: 3 Count via pinfall
- Backstage, Scott Steiner throws stuff and threatens a random production
guy.
- Scott Steiner makes his way out to the ring.
- He'll beat DDP at Greed.
- Cat comes out and says he'll beat Steiner tonight.
- DDP shows up in the crowd and taunts Steiner.
- Rick Steiner tries to sneak up on DDP, but Hugh Morrus cuts him off and
helps DDP.
- Match 2: Shawn Stasiak vs. Norman Smiley
- Stasiak offers Smiley an autographed picture, but Smiley kicks it away
and goes for a sunset flip for 2.
- Pretty much an extended squash from here, so here goes...
- Stasiak hits a variation of a chokeslam for the win.
- Not much else to this one.
- Your Winner: Shawn Stasiak via pinfall
- Postmatch, Stasiak grabs the mic and insults the crowd.
- Outside, Kanyon confronts Smooth, saying he knows he is the one who tipped
off the Cat on Monday.
- Smooth reverses Kanyon's hold and tells him to go leave him alone.
- Smooth gets in the limo to call Cat, but Kanyon flips the limo over with a fork lift.
- When we come back from commercials, paramedics are tending to Smooth.
- Match 3: Elix Skipper vs. Shane Helms
- They trade take downs to start.
- Shane with a tilt-a-whirl face buster and a floating neck breaker.
- They go outside and into the crowd.
- Back inside, Helms with a backbreaker and a flying fist drop for 2.
- Skipper with a reverse suplex into the ropes.
- Helms catches Skipper in the ropes and hits a second rope leg drop for 2.
- Skipper with an overhead belly to belly suplex for 2.
- Skipper with a short clothesline.
- Skipper with a belly to belly suplex and a missile dropkick for 2.
- Helms counters a double underhook suplex with a northern lights suplex for 2.
- Skipper with a German suplex for 2.
- Helms hits the Sugar Smack and a frog splash for 2.
- Helms finishes Skipper off with the Nightmare on Helms Street and a VerteBreaker.
- Your Winner: Shane Helms via pinfall
- Post match, Kid Romeo runs down and takes out Helms.
- Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman run down for the save.
- Match 4: WCW United States Champion Rick Steiner vs. Hugh Morrus
- Long story very, very short: Rick picks up the win after Lance Storm and Mike Awesome interfere, allowing Rick to hit the Steinerdriver.
- Your Winner: Rick Steiner via pinfall
- Match 5: Lex Luger vs. WCW Tag Team Champion Chuck Palumbo
- And my tape ran out as Chuck made his entrance...

- Luger went for the Torture Rack, but Chuck slipped out and pinned Luger
- Your Winner: Chuck Palumbo via pinfall
- Match 6: Konnan vs. Lance Storm
- Konnan went for a back kick, but Storm countered with the Maple Leaf for the submission win.
- Your Winner: Lance Storm via submission
- After the match, a brawl ensued between Team Canada and Konnan/Hugh Morrus.
- Match 7: WCW World Champion Scott Steiner vs. The Cat
- Rick Steiner interfered to try to help Scott win, but Booker T came down to even things up.
- Scott locked on the Steiner Recliner for the submission win.
- Your Winner: Scott Steiner via submission
- After the match, a brawl ensued between the Magnificent 7 and the faces.
- I missed the last 45 minutes or so of the show, but it sounds like there
were as many run-ins as there was during the first part of the show. Not a
good thing in my opinion.
