House Show Results from Athens, OH, 5/31/97
Heath Weber attended a house show in Athens, OH (home of Ohio University) on May 31. He was kind enough to take the time and type up the results and send them to DDT Digest. Many thanks to Heath for helping out.

• Glacier def. Mortis with, what else, that cryonic kick thingie.
  • Pretty boring match and, as usual, the "Glacier sucks!" chant was heard loud and clear.
  • Neither Vandenberg nor Wrath made an appearance.
  • Glacier's hair was dyed blonde, I mean really blonde.
• Dean Malenko def. Syxx when Syxx was DQ'd because of outside interference by Buff Bagwell
  • Everytime I see Syxx do that sick thing when he jumps on his opponent's face it makes me so sick.
  • Many signs that said "Syxx Suxxs Dixxs". Kinda' amusing.
  • Dean Malenko got a pretty good pop.
• Ultimo Dragon def. Steven Regal by some type of submission hold.
  • This was weird. Regal did a pretty cool maneuver off the top ropes but came down kinda weird on his leg. Couldn't tell if he was injured for real or not.
  • Dragon then put on the submission hold.
  • Regal was in the ring for a while after he lost, and eventually the ring announcer siad that it was a non-title match. Weird that they said that after the match. Could Regal have been hurt legit?
  • Dragon looks a lot smaller in person, and Regal looks a lot bigger.
  • Regal works the crowd like no other!
• Steiners def. Public Enemy by pinfall after one of the Enemy missed one of the Steiners on the table.
  • The table was half-way broke on the way to the ring.
  • Steiners got a huge pop.
  • PE did a good job of drawing heat from the crowd by insulting us college students saying that Ohio University wasn't a real school. Pretty funny.
  • A fan jumped over the rail and attacked one of PE. Couldn't tell if it was legit or not, though.
• "Diamond" Dallas Page def. Buff Bagwell with what else....Bang!
  • DDP got a huge, and I mean HUGE pop!
  • Buff drew some decent heat by insulting Ohio U.'s mascot...the Bobcat, by calling it the most faggiest mascot he has ever seen.
  • DDP said that since Savage was out kissing Hogan's butt, he would take it out on this faggot, Buff.
• Flair and Jarrett def. Harlem Heat when Flair small packaged one of Harlem Heat. I get Booker T. and Stevie Ray confused!
  • Flair got biggest pop of night, of course.
  • Harlem Heat insulted Ohio University.
  • Harlem Heat is freakin' huge!
  • Mark Curtis mimicked the match as he was ref.
  • Flair said that after the match he and JJ were going to take some of the girls back to the hotel and have some drinks!
• Overall, I thought it was a good show. We had good seats and the wrestlers seemed to enjoy themselves. Nick Patrick also reffed some matches. Ohh, Mark Curtis was reffing the Bagwell match and he got in Buff's face for about 5 minutes and Buff got scared of him! It was hilarious!
