House Show Results from Philadelphia Spectrum, Saturday, July 26th
Dennis Duffy from Philadelphia, PA attended a WCW house show at the Spectrum on Saturday, July 26th. He was kind enough to take the time and send in this report.
- The show started at 7:45 with basically no sound.
- Match #1: Public Enemy over High Voltage by pinfall.
- It was supposed to be the Amazing French Canadians.
- Match #2: Chris Jericho over Alex Wright by submission.
- Match #3: Chris Benoit over Steven Regal by submission.
- Benoit cut his lip during the match.
- Match #4: Eddie Guerrero over Dean Malenko by pinfall.
- Guerrero was busted open on his forehead early in the match.
- Intermission
- As they were about to restart, Stevie Richards comes running out, and bad mouths Raven for tearing up his contract on Nitro. Stevie says he signed with WCW. People (note this is Philadelphia, a mainstay of ECW) begin to chant "You sold out". He says, "Maybe, but I'm rich now too".
Raven then comes down the aisle, goes into the ring, kicks Richards and DDTs him.
- Match #5: Steiner Brothers over Buff Bagwell & Scott "Flash" Norton by pinfall.
- Match #6: Jeff Jarrett over Steve "Mongo" McMichael by pinfall.
- Debra distracted McMichael and then a roll-up pin.
- Match #7: Ric Flair over Syxx by submission.
- Flair came out first, then nWo theme music played completely twice.
- Finally Syxx comes out in jean shorts and says his flight just got in.
- Flair punches him and the match begins.
- Match #8: Randy "Macho Man" Savage over "Diamond" Dallas Page in a Death Match when DDP couldn't answer the 10-count.
- The match lasted about five minutes.
- As Macho tried to slam DDP, DDP's leg hits Nick Patrick and knocks him out for a few minutes. Right after that, DDP diamond cutters Savage but there is no referee to count.
- Curt Hennig comes out and hits DDP with something, knocking him out, causing DDP to lose because he couldn't get up in the 10 seconds.
- Match #9: Kevin Nash & Scott Hall over "The Total Package" Lex Luger & Giant by pinfall.
- Nash and Hall were awesome. They worked the crowd really well.
- Match ended with Savage, Norton, and Bagwell coming out, and Savage hitting the Giant with the tag belt. Nash pinned the Giant.
- Then DDP and Steiners come out to save Luger and the Giant.
- Overall, a pretty good show. The second half of the show was much better then the first.
- Hogan was there, but never came out. I saw him in the entrance way before the show started.
- No Sting, so that sucked.
