From Jason A. from Jena, LA
- Match #1: Ernest Miller vs. Brad Armstrong
- Lot of stalling in this one. I was hoping to see a little more work from Armstrong in this one but he mostly just sold kicks that didn't connect from the Cat. Nobody in this neck of the woods cares one way or another about either of these and the boring chants came out pretty quickly. After a pretty slow match, Miller connected on his Feliner and scored the pin.
- Match #2: Lizmark Jr. & Silver King vs. Damien & Ciclope
- Lucha Libre time. Pretty entertaining match with some high spots but way too many blown spots also. And once again the crowd was practically asleep through most of it. Damien even grabbed the mic a couple of times in the middle of the match and yelled something in Spanish that sounded like Viva la Gordita or something like that but it didn't get much response. Finally the crowd got into things a little bit when there was the mandatory pile up from on the outside at the end of the match.
- The end came when Silver King had Damien by himself on the inside and hit a really cool move where he picked him up in a move that looked like it was going to be an Outsider's Edge and then he started spinning around threw Damien up into the up so he spun around and crashed to the mat. After that Silver King hit a front flip legdrop and covered for the win.
- Match #3: Chris Adams vs. Fit Finlay
- Finlay got a decent heel pop as he came out first and then Adams arrived to complete silence. I'm not sure many people knew who he was. Decent match. Rather non-descript. Finlay actually ended up the one being
cheered in the end because nobody knew who Adams was. That after he came out playing the heel, flipping off the crowd. Strange.
- Anyway, Finlay ended it with the Tombstone and the pinfall win.
- Match #4: Barry Darsow vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan
- Darsow came out first in his normal style. (I'll break your stinkin' arm off you bum!) Then the place absolutely exploded as the Hacksaw came in with his 2X4 and American flag. He is way over in these parts because of his Mid-South work years back.
- The match was actually entertaining with Hacksaw playing the crowd like a baby grand. His "USA" chant was easily the loudest chant of the night. After about 76 Ho's! and nearly 15 USA chants, Hacksaw finally dropped Old Glory for the pin.
- After the fourth match Scott Hall made an unscheduled appearance. He gave the survey but only asked about WCW and nWo. He didn't mention the Wolfpac. He said that Curt Hennig wasn't able to make it and that he would gladly step in the ring with Big Sexy in Curt's place if that was alright with the crowd. Naturally it was and the match was set for later in the night. People really, really hate the black and white.
- Match #5: Raven vs. Saturn
- Pretty good match. Both guys were pretty over.
- At the beginning of the match, Raven took the mic and announced that the two were back together again and the match was canceled. The hugged and raised each others hand then Saturn jumped him and the match started. The match went all over the arena.
- It had a pretty strange ending, though. Raven hit the Evenflow and Saturn kicked out of it! That surprised me. Then Saturn hit the Death Valley Driver for the win.
- Match #6: Chris Jericho vs. Dean Malenko
Jericho came out first and of course took the mic. He asked Dave Penzer where he was and when Penzer told him Alexandria, Jericho told everyone that Alexander was his favorite town and we were his favorite people here in Alexander. Pretty funny. He told everyone that since he had told Malenko he would never get another shot at the title that this match was not for the belt.
- Malenko came out and told Jericho that nobody cared if they fought for the belt, that all the fans wanted to
see was him kick Jericho's ass. Big pop for that. It was of course a great match. What we have come to expect from these two athletes.
- Malenko flipped out of a Liontamer attempt and eventually locked on the Texas Cloverleaf for the submission win. Jericho then got on the mic and reminded everyone he was still the champ. He is so much better as a heel. I hated him as a face. Now he is starting to win me over.
- Match #7: Lex Luger vs. Bret Hart
- Hart came out wearing the belt but it was announced as non-title. Hart was booed beyond belief. You could barely tell what he was saying on the mic through all the boos.
- Luger came out to a huge ovation. I would say the crowd was about 95% pro Wolfpac. Hart told Luger that he wouldn't put the belt on the line for two reasons. Luger wasn't a contender, and plus, he sucked. That was interesting.
- I enjoyed the match. Hart dominated pretty much throughout until the required Luger second wind when he hit two atomic drops, the bionic forearm, and was calling for the rack when Scott Hall ran out caused the DQ.
- Hall and Hart doubleteamed Luger for a while until Nash ran out with a chair and cleared the ring. Nash took the mic and said Hall and Hart were tough when it was two on one but how about a little tag team action. Which
led us straight into:
- Match #8 Luger & Nash vs. Hall & Hart
- After a little coaxing Hall and Hart returned to the ring and the match began. The heels kept the advantage for the most part by doubleteaming and other dasdardly tactics until Nash double clotheslined both men. He made a hot tag to Luger who cleaned house. Luger then tagged Nash back in and racked Hart while Nash put a pretty vicious jacknife on Hall.
- He covered for the pinfall while Luger had Hart in the rack. The crowd was completely hyped during the entire match. After the pin, Nash straddled Hall and gave some DX style crotch chops. Everybody then left the ring except for Hall who layed there motionless for near five minutes. Then, finally with the help of the ref he got to his feet and complained to the ref that he had gotten a shoulder up before the three count. Classic.
- Overall, it was a very entertaining show and I think everyone got their money's worth. I hope they come back around to this area soon.
- Loudest Face Pops:
- Nash
- Luger
- Hacksaw
- Loudest Heel Pops:
- Hall
- Hart
- Jericho
- Thankfully the Goldberg chants were kept to a minimum. Granted, I would have loved for him to have been there, but I saw no point in chanting the name of a guy who wasn't even wrestling. Well, that's about it. If you've never been to a house show check one out. They are usually pretty fun.
