By Chris W. from Jackson, Mississippi
- Match #1: Glacier v Chris Adams
- Chants of "Whip His Ass" rang through the Jackson, MS Coliseum, as the crowd rallied around Adams,
who showed his talents, but in the end got pinned due to Glacier's "Cryonic Kick."
- Match #2: Ernest Miller v Van Hammer
- Van Hammer replaced a no-show Saturn. Ernest Miller drew TONS of heel heat! He came out,
using lots of vulgarities, and insulted virtually everyone in the building. At one point he said, "Somebody
call my mama. I gotta deal with the KKK." Hammer came out and Miller went through the 5 count routine until Hammer grabbed the mic and told The Cat that HE had until the crowd counted 5 to "not only get out of the ring but get your sorry ass out of the state of Mississippi!"
- The match was surprisingly entertaining! Hammer worked harder than I have ever seen and secured the victory with the "Flashback". At one point Miller kicked the ref, Mickey Jay, and Jay abruptly kicked him right
back...dead center of the posterior!
- Match #3: David Taylor v Chris Benoit
- Taylor draws heel heat by waving the Union Jack high in the air during his entrance. The roof of the coliseum almost lifted off when The Horsemen's music began to play and I could have sworn that some bolts came loose when Benoit entered the arena floor.
- The two went straight to work in the ring and after about three or four minutes, Benoit picked up the ring mic and informed Taylor that Jackson, MS is HORSEMEN COUNTRY (HUGE POP). Taylor fended off the
Crippler's attacks for another five minutes but eventually fell victim to the Crippler Crossface!
- After a short intermission we were treated to a match that will be aired on CBS THIS MORNING
during the week of February 1. CBS Adventure Reporter, Jose Diaz Bernard, came out in Macho Man regalia and claimed that he had been training with "Mach". He announced that he would be fighting Kanyon.
- Kanyon v "Macho Junior" (His words, not mine!) Kanyon came out and the crowd booed.... He asked,"Who's better than Kanyon?" the crowd response was better than they have ever portrayed it on NITRO.... EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kanyon made quick work of the reporter and then challenged anyone from the back to a fight! Bobby Duncum answered!
- Match #4: Bobby Duncum, Jr. v Kanyon
- Can you say ASS WHOOP?! Kanyon went for the chair but Billy Silverman dragged it away and Kanyon gave chase to the ref. Duncum was waiting on Kanyon after the complete lap was made and met him with a clothesline. Duncum made quick work of Kanyon! Don't ask me what the finishing move was, but it looked cool!
- Match #5: SCOTTY Riggs v Raven
- Notice the name...not just Riggs but Scotty Riggs. He was back in action minus the eye patch. Raven offered to let Riggs lie down and take the loss so they could go get some beer. Raven made reference to the Hogan - Nash debacle... the finger push... by saying... "You know how it goes... the big shots can do it so they don't have to wrestle so why can't we?" Riggs seemingly agreed and fell with the finger push but when Raven went for the cover by leaping off the ropes, he landed on Riggs' knees! A great match where both wrestlers were busted open. Raven wins via Evenflow on a chair!
- Match #6: "Diamond" Dallas Page v Bam Bam Bigelow
- Page got the second biggest pop of the night. Bam Bam and Page worked hard but Bam Bam felt the Bang after three failed attempts.
- Match #7: Bret Hart v Sting
- MATCH OF THE NIGHT!!!! Sting got the absolute biggest pop of the night...actually the pop Sting got in
Jackson was bigger than any I have ever heard in a LIVE wrestling show. And guess what folks...
they only got louder.... Stinger started the "Whoooooooooo" and got everybody shouting! Bret Hart
drew a mild bit of heel heat..... looks like the crowd here didn't buy the bad guy schtick anymore since
the A&E special!!! Bret and Stinger wrestled a good clean match for about twelve minutes and then
the ref got bumped... Bret nailed Sting with the "foreign object" which up close looked like nothing
more than a wadded up mass of sports tape. The ref was awakened by Hart who went for the pin only
to get a two-count. The match went to the outside... Sting got the upper hand and eventually got Hart
back into the ring where he (Sting) got the 1-2-3 by executing the excellence of execution with the
Scorpion Death Drop. Sting then exited the ring but turned around and picked up the mic...and you were probably wondering...what colors did Sting wear ????? Well...I'll let the words of the man himself explain! The only words out of Sting's mouth were: "Black and White Stinger...In DA HOOOOOOUUUUUUSE!"
