By Jeremy S. from Ann Arbor, MI
- Vampiro d. Lash Leroux
- You know it's a bad sign when two of your faves are the first match.
- Jerry Flynn d. Dave Taylor
- This was originally billed for Fit Finlay, but I would have preferred Steven Regal. Stupid USA chant.
- Disco Inferno d. Vincent
- They gave Vincent more mic time than half a year of Nitro's.
- Disco had on this lime green Travolta/"Staying Alive" thing.
- Hacksaw was originally s'posed to wrestle Disco.
- Disco is funny. He offered to lead the nWo b&w, as Stevie Ray left the nWo the previous night on Thunder.
- Barbarian d. Vampiro
- Somebody no-showed, so Vampiro wrestled again. Works for me.
- ...but he lost. The boy looked waaaaaay too tired to bodyslam Barbarian any more.
- Saturn d. Kanyon
- Match of the night. F***ing superb.
- Curt Hennig d. Hacksaw Jim Duggan
- This was the second most hyped match, under the headliner.
- Supposed to be Curt Hennig vs. Konnan.
- Konnan no-showed, of course. Quite a shame, since I wanted to sing along with Konnan.
- Konnan is on one of the new WCW MasterCards.
- Lots of stalling, and had a weird & abrupt ending when Curt apparently got sick of wrestling Hacksaw, who no-sold the PerfectPlex. Bleah.
- Hacksaw has nothing left but a USA chant and a "Ho!"
- They used a USA chant against the American Curt. Stupid crowd marks.
- Sting & Booker T vs DDP & Bam Bam (non-title match)
- Second best match of the night. Ref'd by Little Naitch.
- I had lotsa fun with this one.
- Booker T had on his Harlem Heat tights.
- Amazing crowd pops for Booker T, but deafening response for Sting.
- DDP & Bam Bam still suck, with Bam Bam doing few things other than modified head-butts.
- Sting won with Scorpion Death Drop (after being Diamond-Cutter'd), and he & Booker T stole the tag team belts and walked to the back with them.
- DDP & Bam Bam got mad at Little Naitch, and Diamond-Cutter'd him.
About as good as an okay Thunder, in terms of matches.
Unfortunately, no Eddy, no luchadores, no Norman Smiley, no Steven Regal, no ICP. Eddy vs Juventud or La Parka would have made the night for me.
But, no stupid hardcore matches, either. Enh.
