WCW Fall Brawl - Sunday, September 17, 2000
WCW Fall Brawl - Sunday, September 17, 2000
- Bill has decided to give me the privilege of covering Fall Brawl for DDT Digest.
- Wait a minute...this really isn't a privilege is it?
- Damn you Bill for tricking me.
- My color commentator for this evening will be Swandive.
- Not only is she better looking, but she is also much funnier than Mark Madden.
- Since I still don't have a webpage to plug I will plug hers Swanbomb.com coming soon to an Internet near you.
- Swandive says...
- I've been to three "Fall Brawl" show live in my life. In '94, I had to watch
the Nasty Boys and Bunkhouse Buck battle it out in the main event. In '97, I
watched as Mongo's weak will killed the Four Horsemen. In 98, I watched the
ring fill up with smoke to reveal the fake Warrior and then to reveal the
REAL Warrior. He jumped out of the cage and hurt himself.
- I'm not a big fan of Fall Brawl. But I love misery!
- Lets take a quick look at WCW over the past few months and see what's good, and what's bad.
- Good: No Hulk Hogan cluttering up my TV with his talentless orange carcass.
- Bad: Now Nash is cluttering up my TV with his big talentless carcass.
- Good: No more of Mr. Charisma Lex Luger.
- Bad: No more Liz *sniff*
- Good: Eric Bischoff who?
- Bad: This means more time for Vince Russo to hog the spotlight.
- Good: Benoit, Jericho, Guerrero.
- Even Better: Finally getting the pushes and time in the limelight they deserve.
- Bad (for WCW fans anyways): They work for a different company.
- A lot of people wrote me last time about Old School wrestling.
- I just wanted everyone to know I appreciated the deluge of e-mail I got over the topic.
- It just goes to show many people on the 'net aren't fly-by-night fans who only watch because of The Rock and Goldberg.
- One last note, I will be drinking heavily during this recap.
- I am paying for a WCW PPV willingly, ya' know.
- I won't be playing the WCW drinking game however....too many rules to remember.
- Since I am writing this intro about 3 hours ahead of time I will make a prediction.
- I call at least 1 turn and 2 swerves before the night is out.
- Whoohoo! The Bronco's won...not even a WCW PPV can ruin this day.
- I also watched the first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan to prepare myself for the potential disaster.
- Official match times tonight will be sponsored by my Timex Ironman watch.
- Enough of my mindless babbling on to the show!
- We are live from Buffalo, New York.
- The opening montage involves live action shots interspersed with shots of WCW action figures.
- Nice product placement, WCW toys sales must be in the crapper.
- Tony Schiavone, Scott Hudson and Mark Madden are your announcers.
- Match #1 "Primetime" Elix Skipper vs. The Kwee-wee w/Paisley for the Cruiserweight Title
- The Kwee-Wee and Paisley are doing the tango on the way down to the ring.
- Skipper comes out with an unhappy looking Major Gunns.
- Skipper tries to perform some kind of mating dance with Gunns but she ain't falling for it.
- Skipper shows off by doing a handspring into the ring using the top rope.
- Swandive has a prediction for the finish of this match.
- Russo's great at booking Cruiserweight Matches. I say Skipper is about to
win, but then the lights go out and MEAN MIKE AND TOUGH TOM of the Disorderly
Conduct come out and crucify Kwee Wee. Then Lance Storm will drive into the
arena in a Stealth Bomber, leading to a double DQ, leading to a Over the Top
off With the Top match at the next PPV.
- Shoving and punches to start off the match
- Kwee-Wee picks up Skipper in a press position and drops him on his face.
- A dropkick sends Skipper out of the ring and Kwee-Wee (referred to as Wee from this point on) takes his bandana and wipes his butt with it.
- They trade some armdrags and Wee gets a quick 2 count.
- Some mat wrestling follow and Skipper takes refuge in the ropes when Wee comes out on top.
- Don't cruiserweights fly around the ring or something? Whats with all this mat wrestling?
- Irish whip into the ropes and Wee failed to get high enough for the leapfrog so Skipper runs into him and falls down.
- Resthold while they try to figure out how to get back into the match.
- Skipper throws Wee in the the corner face first then clubs him in the back of the head.
- Skipper stomps on Wee and gets a 2 count.
- Skipper from the ring apron jumps on the top rope, jumps to flip around, then jumps again into a backflip over Wee and punches him in the kidney.
- That was pretty cool looking
- Skipper with a full nelson suplex into a bridge gets a 2 count.
- Skipper with a twisting legdrop that he gets his elevation from by holding onto the corner ropes and another 2 count.
- Skipper with a death defying cruiserweight chinlock.
- Wee with a crossbody and Skipper catches him and Wee goes over the top rope while Skipper bridges.
- Mysteriously, with no one else in the ring, Skipper falls to the floor a couple of seconds later.
- Maybe the ref shoved him the rest of the way over because the camera missed whatever happened.
- Wee tries to get back into the ring but Skipper pulls him off the apron.
- Face meet Apron...Apron meet Face.
- Skipper with a nice top rope springboard moonsault to the outside that wipes out Wee and the nearby camerman.
- Back in the ring Skipper tries for the Overdrive but Wee counters with a powerbomb.
- The Magic Eightball of Booking has decided now would be a good time for The Natural Born Thrillers to come out and watch the match from the top of the ramp.
- My screwjob radar is going crazy.
- Wee snaps in the ring and starts beating the hell of of Skipper.
- Nice high body backdrop on Skipper.
- Wee throws Skipper over the top rope...with his back now facing the top of the ramp.
- Wrestlers should study tape or something to avoid situations like this.
- Mike Sanders and his stickball bat pop Wee one in the back of the knee while the ref is taking a smoke break or something.
- On the outside, Paisley slaps Skipper and then gives the ref the "talk to the hand" motion.
- Skipper goes up top with a crossbody that Wee rolls through but he only gets a two count.
- Skipper proceeds to work on the injured knee of Wee Despite the fact he never saw the attack by Sanders.
- Skipper hits his finisher, The Overdrive.
- Your winner and still the Cruiserweight Champion "Primetime" Elix Skipper in 11:04 via Overdrive.
- Match #2 Three Count vs. MIA (Lt. Loco, Sgt. A-wall and Corporal Cajun)

- After the song ends they ask for it to play again but we get MIA's music instead.
- A-Wall sets up a table at ringside.
- Swandive says....
- "I think Matt Three Count is better on the mat, but Jeff Three Count is cuter and has the multicolored hair...but I think Lita's my favorite in the stable. Wait, hold on..."
- Loco and Shannon Moore start out with a lock up.
- This match will outrun me very quickly.
- Loco with some chops on Moore and of course the crowd is going "WHOO!"
- Let's all say a prayer for the career of Ric Flair and hope Vince gives him one more chance to show why he is the man.
- Cajun is tagged in and they give Moore a double elbow.
- Moore with a top rope springboard moonsault and he tags in Evan K.
- An Irish whip leads to Cajun hosting Evan in the air and dropping him down.
- Tag by Evan to Shane Helms.
- Shane missed a legdrop and Cajun tags in A-Wall.
- Wall with a gorilla press into a spinebuster.
- I think little Shane is broken in half after that one.
- All 3 members of 3 count come in to beat on the Wall but he ends up punking them out of the ring.
- Tag to Cajun who slams Shane the gets tripped from behind by Evan while coming off the ropes.
- Shannon slides in so Shane can get out behind the ref's back.

- Moore with a showstopper but Loco makes the save on the pin.

- Evan K. with a hip swivel and an top rope elbow drop.
- I am gonna need therapy after seeing that.
- Shane with a diving sunset flip on Cajun and it only gets a 2.
- These guys are acting like they are auditioning for the WWF or something. This is actually a pretty good match so far.
- Cajun tries to come back with some punches but Shane nails him with a Russian leg sweep.
- Shane with a twisting splash on Cajun and it only gets a 2.
- Shane argues with the ref and gets shoved down for his troubles.
- I think the ref is bigger than this flyweight.
- Sean tries a Stinger splash and eats turnbuckle, Cajun follows it up with a springboard facebuster.
- Cajun makes the tag to Wall who cleans house until he gets low-blowed by someone...hell I lost track of who is who.
- The mutlicolored little bastard with a diving flip onto Cajun on the outside.
- Loco nails him with a half assed looking top rope...uhh...jump on my opponent would be the name I guess.
- Evan K. with a top rope crossbody onto the floor into Cajun and Loco.
- I should mention they are diving over the table Wall set up earlier.
- Shane goes for some move to join the mess on the floor but gets caught by Wall who is on the apron.
- The other two 3 counters save him from a chokeslam through the table.
- Wall is standing on the apron and starts lifting Shannon off the floor by his hair.
- Shane makes the save and Wall goes through his own table.
- They roll Loco into the ring to beat on him but Evan K. gets superkicked in the face by his own partner when Loco moves out of the way.

- Your Winners Lt. Loco, Sgt A-Wall and Corporal Cajun in 10:23 via The Whiplash.

- A kid is asking for autographs from Nash, Steiner and Jarret.
- Jarret tells him to go away.
- Steiner asks if that is his mother and goes to talk to her.
- Nash asks him how much money he has.
- $1.50 isn't enough to buy Nash's autograph.
- Nash looked like he was going to take the kid's money.
- The kid just stands there with this dopey look on his face.
- Match #3 Harris Brothers vs. Kronik in a first blood chain match.
- The Harris brothers come down first and the suck factor hits 3.0
- Kronik gets a decent pop coming down to the ring.
- According to Tony the return of the Harris Brothers was "astounding".
- A little pre-match mic work turns this into a first blood match.
- Swandive says....
- Don't ever say that Vince Russo doesn't have an original idea... here we've
got Crush, Skull, and 8-Ball fighting with "chains." WCW should just bring
the angle full circle and bring in Brian Clark as some Hispanic dude in white
slacks.
- Ummm...the match starts and we get some generic brawling with chains.
- Adams goes for a chain wrapped fistdrop and misses.
- They fight by the announcers table and the announcers bail like rats from a sinking ship.
- How wimpy do these guys look compared to J.R.?

- Stasiak will be doing color for this match.
- I don't care...I am trying to tune them all out...Hudson is the only one who has said anything remotely funny tonight.
- Swandive says....
- THE SHAWN-TON BOMB! Great, maybe Russo will book him in a political angle
and call him "ElecShawn." Then he impregnate somebody and make her have a
"C-SecShawn." And then maybe I'll whip out the shotgun and play "Self
Inflicted GunShawn Wound" and enjoy the peaceful serenity of my brains
against my bedroom wall. Anything's better than sitting through a Shawn
O'Haire match.
- She just needs her medication, but so do I for this match.
- Konnan has the mic and I agree with Stasiak about the crap we are about to here.
- Thankfully my audio cuts halfway through Konnan's schtick.
