Arn's Match Against Ric Flair
Arn's Match Against Ric Flair

Arn and Ric Flair faced each other only once in their careers, September 17th, 1995, in Asheville, North Carolina, at Fall Brawl. That match was one of the highlights of Arn's career. If you weren't following WCW at that time, there was a lot leading up to that match. It was actually some three months in the making.

Here you will find pictures (and sounds) of the events leading up to that match, and pictures from the match itself. (This will take a while to go through, so feel free to bookmark it part way through and come back later.)

The seeds were initially sown in a match against Vader, Arn was blamed for the loss, and there was an argument between Arn and Ric. The argument was bad enough, but it had also happened in front of the cameras. Instead of blowing over, it got worse when Ric Flair had a match against Alex Wright on TV on July 26th, 1995.

Even before the match started, Arn was not happy...

The problems began when Ric threw Alex Wright out of the ring, and Ric took issue with the fact that Arn did not take the opportunity to put the boots to Das Wunderkid.

Things got worse when Arn wouldn't help Ric to the ropes after Alex Wright reversed his figure-four leglock.

Arn told Ric that he didn't like what he was seeing. Ric couldn't believe what he was hearing.

He challenged Arn's wrestling skills. As you might expect, Arn took exception to it.
