I'd been thinking about something like this for a while now, but it wasn't 'til Monday did I realise it might be true...I can't help but feel that Kevin Nash is attempting to take WCW down from the inside after I realized that this rumor was true: Kevin Nash, booker, is purposely keeping Norman Smiley off of television.
Sure, Smiley's not really one of WCW's big names, but he's got a near cult-following, along with the best dance ever.
But why would Nash want to keep him off TV? My theory: conspiracy. Nash, along with the WCW writers and planners are plotting to take the company down from the inside. Little things, like no more Smiley, way too much Steiner and Gonnad, predictable Mysterio matches, etc., and the total elimination of wrestling matches from Nitro begin to add up, and will eventually lead to WCW's collapse. What do Nash and the writers have to gain from this... well, I haven't figured that out yet, but I'm sure it's insidious and evil.
Probably because the powers that be don't want to show anyone that has better technical ability than Hogan or Nash. :)
Seriously though, this is what I have been thinking, and I could be wrong. Many of you might have heard from various sites about WCW's vision of a G-Rated federation. After what was shown Monday night, I doubt it's actually going to be a reality. However, if it was true then one of the things WCW would probably axe is Smiley's "Smack My Bitch Up" dance and his other gyrations.
Being the Smiley mark that I am, I will admit that without his dancing he cannot get heat if he lit a match and threw it into a full 55-gallon gasoline drum. Kind of a shame really, as Smiley's actual wrestling is almost as good as Dean Malenko's circa-1996.
Regardless of what goes on with Smiley's push or WCW in general though, I still have hope....
