WCW Best of Thunder - December 27, 2000
-
In the words of some movie I forget the name of: "I'm baaaack."
-
Tonight is a Best Of 2000 show, so this report is going to suck.
-
GREATWRESTLING.COM. I haven't
updated it for months. Right now, I WANT TO GIVE IT AWAY. I will still
pay the bills I just want someone to run a unique and updated at least once
a month kind of site. No newsboard or women of wrestling site. COME ON
PEOPLE. I'm giving away a frikkin' domain name here.
-
Stevie Ray and Phat (wait, I meant Fat) Tony are the hosts for the show.
-
They talk about the brand new nWo that formed at the end of 1999. They
show clips from the group's first big interview from the 12/23/99
Thunder. Yeah, that's certainly "Best Of 2000."
-
From the same Thunder, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash (in a homoerotic shower
moment) getting their asses beat. Clips are also shown from the main event
where Goldberg chases Bret Hart to the back. In black & white, dumbass
Bill Goldberg cuts his arm open. What a slapnut.
-
Back to the studio where Stevie and Tony take us to some clips of wrestlers
debuting on Thunder.
-
12/23/99 Thunder once
again shows the FRIKKIN' awesome debut of Crowbar, as David Flair (who wants
a salisbury steak) and Daffney scream a lot and find gas station attendant
Crowbar.
-
Once again from that Thunder (you know I wish WCW would put the dates of
the shows they're using these clips from. It's making my job a b***h) Brian
Knobbs and Fit Finlay beat the living hell out of Norman Smiley 'til Meng
makes the save. Who debuted there?
-
1/06/00 Thunder
shows Tony Mamaluke (who is insane now in ECW) making Disco Inferno get
money from a shopkeeper. He trades a Rolex for the small bit of money.
-
To the studio again, Stevie and Tony talk about Terry Funk (who's contract
expires in June, I believe. Anyone remember where that reference is from?)
becoming the commish.
-
1/06/00 Thunder
Terry Funk debuts as the commishioner. They don't show Terry beating up
"Insert a joke about any kind of narcotics here" Juventud Guerrera and
Psicosis. Main event clips are also shown where Terry Funk took on Bret
Hart.
-
Ohh f***. The Thunder shortly after hell froze (you know, when Kevin Sullivan
started booking) 1/26/00
Thunder has Sid babble about nothing with the undeserved Heavyweight
Belt around his waist. Then Caged Heat is shown. I didn't care then, and
big surprise, I still don't.
-
From the same Thunder, Norman Smiley dances with a bunch of showgirls. Now
that was funny!

-
Thank God. After a commercial break they'll start the Russo-Bischoff era.
-
Nice to see that WCW even regrets the three month Sullivan crap.
-
When we come back a quick clip of the GREAT ONE La Parka is shown. "Skull
Captain's in a hiz-house. You see the chair, you know the deal. You know
the 411. 1 for me, and one for my homies." THAT RULED.
-
Tony asks who it was. Stevie does a voice that sounds just like it, but
denies it being him. Talking about Russo-Bischoff, Stevie asks why Russo
would want to push the established stars out. I have about 300 answers
for that one, Stevie.
-
4/12/00 Thunder-
This Thunder was two days after Russo and Bischoff returned to WCW and
raised it, thank God. The anonymous masked Villano (which Aldo went all
out on when the idiot production crew messed up) smashed Sting with his
guitar. Russo and Bagwell are also shown beating up Ric Flair. DDP giving
a Diamond Cutter to Bigelow is also shown, with Bischoff screwing DDP out
of the win. DDP gets a guitar shot also. Former World Heavyweight Champion
Arquette gets thrown over the top rope for trying to save his buddy.
-
4/26/00 Thunder-
Even though I wasn't very offended by this moment in wrestling, this is
the show where 'that actor' won the Heavyweight Title. The clips leading
up to David winning the title are shown. Why it is shown, but some of the
Sting vs. The Wall Table Match (which earned a crying Indian from Aldo)
is played. Mike Awesome defeating Booker T with the Running Awesome Bomb
is shown also.
-
Stevie and Mike babble, and I don't listen.
-
5/03/00 Thunder-
The New Blood and Millionare's Club brawl outside the arena. Russo yelling
at everybody, and Steiner freaking out on Russo (which ruled) was shown.
The members of the NB fail at their missions. Bischoff talking (what else
is new?) is shown. I just realized I say "shown" a lot. Deal with it. Parts
of the Heavyweight Title Shot Battle Royal is played. They actually show
the part with the Mystery Man, that turned out to be Randy Savage. Savage
was ripped at that point.
-
Some commercial says life isn't all about money. Hah, hah, hah, hah, hah!
Wait, let me do that again. Hah, hah, hah, hah, hah!
-
They skip the 5/10/00 show, which wasn't good.
-
The first Thunder I did JPG's was the 5/17/00
Thunder and the 5/24/00
Thunder. While the NB are shown arriving, Aldo forgot to mention that
Konnan told Douglas to go play with himself. Shame on you Aldo. Also from
the show, Ric Flair literally has a heart attack (it's edited out, but
what it was that's before it was shown), and the New Blood bus is tipped
over. Part of the great interview with Reid Flair's "teacher," interrupted
by Nash is played. Kimberly blabs to Elizabeth in the back, till she throws
her out of her chair and bumrushes Elizabeth to the ring. DDP spanks his wife. And Kevin Nash wins
the World Title when the World Title got passed around more than a three
dollar hooker.

-
I remember this. The quick clip is of Ernest Miller trying to teach some
old ladies to dance, then threatening them.
-
6/07/00 Thunder
and
6/14/00 Thunder-
Ric Flair's "retirement" where Vince Russo gets his face shoved into a
cake. Bischoff tells the police to arrest Goldberg. The New Blood puts
a straightjacketed Scott Steiner into a bodybag. Goldberg (who somehow
got backstage) makes the save. Russo talks about Flair's shaved head. Nash
says his ass is his. Well, considering the homoerotic shower scene, maybe
it's true. This whole thing would lead to a night of silly chase scenes
and stuff till the payoff where Goldberg destroys Nash.

-
6/21/00 Thunder
and
6/28/00 Thunder-
Goldberg calls Hall a cancer (and this time the word "Hall" isn't bleeped).
David Flair plays Daffney and gets slapped. Flair shaves Woody's head,
which ruled. Daffney throws a white powder substance on Hancock. Crowbar
beats on David Flair.
-
They show the two pranksters (Palumbo and Stasiak) setting off pyro which
freaks out David Penzer.
-
Also shown in everyone trying to get Disqo out of WCW.
-
Why was the 7/05/00 Thunder not highlighted when that was the Thunder where
Jarrett and Booker T wrestled the match that set the PPV one up?
-
7/12/00 Thunder,
7/19/00 Thunder,
and 7/26/00 Thunder-
Kidman shows disrespect to the National Anthem. The breakup between these
two seemed too rushed. Booker T says he's going to be a good champion. Booker
brawls with Jarrett. Jarrett cuts a nice promo. Harlem Heat vs. Rick Steiner
and Jeff Jarrett in a Harlem Heat reunion. Lance Storm makes the Canadian
Title. Booker T talks some more, then gets held back from beating on Jarrett
Clips of the Lights Out match between Booker and Jarrett, along with the
awesome figure four Jarrett puts on Booker to end the match.
-
8/16/00 Thunder-
Miss Hancock tells David that he can't do anything right. The Natural Born
Thrillers, the true New Blood, beat on The Filthy Animals. Nash turns on
Booker T. Pamela saves her sugar daddy from getting a Madden Bomb. Natural
Born Thrillers cut a promo.
-
8/23/00 Thunder-
The Natural Born Thrillers interupt a game of stickball. Sanders executes
the 3.0 onto Disqo. Natural Born Thrillers beat on Big Vito.
-
8/30/00 Thunder-
Major Gunns isn't happy with being a part of Team Canada. Lance Storm frikkin'
rules but can't beat Kronic because of that dirty ho' Major Gunns. Rection
makes the save and cuts a promo. Nash and Booker's feud is furthered. Notice
how I'm starting not to care that much?
-
9/06/00 Thunder-
Nothing's going to ruin Miss Hancock and David Flair's wedding. Well, maybe
except a child that we haven't heard about for like a month! Goldberg destroys
Elix Skipper. Lance Storm smartly retreats. Rection comes out though and
brawls with him. Huge pumphandle and spear by Goldberg, followed by a Jackhammer.
-
HAHAHAHAHAHA! A promo for that bike WCW's giving away or whatever. Norman
Smiley drives up on it wearing a helmet and says that you should always
practice safety procedures. Meng and Kwee-Wee come up to Norman. Meng hits
Norman with a pink trash can shot. Meng gets on the bike and starts headbanging.
The happy twosome then drove away. Ha!
-
Can I just quit right now? I seriously don't care about recapping WCW's
last three months. Not that they've been bad, just I'm not interested in
reviewing them.
-
I'm finishing this up quick. I started this review at 4:30 as I was out
partying. The next segment just shows Kronic being bad, Mike Sanders being
bad, a big brawl erupting, and other stuff.
-
Next segment shows Stasiak's heel-face-heel turns, Nash getting turned
on, Goldberg continuing his streak, and Luger pissed his pants nearly.
-
A bunch of stuff that was just on WCW TV in the past month (and shame on
you if you missed it) is shown like Sting getting straightjacketed and
stuff. Tony tells us to have a great holiday. Yeah, I'll do that, by saying
"Goodbye suckas" to the rest of you.
-
Goodbye Suckas
